Jamie Vardy will stay at Leicester, says club's vice-chairman

Leicester's vice-chairman believes the club will keep Jamie Vardy, despite the striker being linked with a £20m move to Arsenal. Speaking to the Daily Mail, Srivaddhanaprabha said: "You will see the news very soon, but I think he will stay."

"I think so, let's see. We need to build the team. We keep continuing to believe that we can do something special in the Premier League and the Champions League."

"The Champions League is going to be amazing for Leicester. Leicester is the underdog and we can still be the underdog."

The vice-chairman also revealed he enjoys a close relationship with the club's manager, Claudio Ranieri.

"We talk a lot. We are like family," Srivaddhanaprabha said of the charismatic Italian.

"I cannot compare myself to another owner but the best thing is we love sport. The first day we talked to the team and we showed that we are doing something we love and that we can succeed.

"I think everyone in Leicester is still pinching themselves. Even the players and staff. Now the season is finished and we have to move on."
Kind of a click bait article. He says he thinks Vardy will stay. So naturally the headline is Vardy will stay.

story in the paper today where Vardy says he takes loads of red bull and nicotine pouches as stimulants! The latter he apparently has in his gums in games!

One expert reckons this can improve performance by 7percent!

Knew something was a little untoward with him, but for now this is apparently legal. Watch this space though!

Vardy explains Red Bull patch-up

England striker Jamie Vardy has offered assurances that his goalscoring exploits are not simply fuelled by energy drinks and nicotine.

Vardy came off the bench to net an equaliser as England got their Euro 2016 campaign up and running with a 2-1 win over Wales in Lens on Thursday.

Photos of the Leicester City star clutching a can of Red Bull and oral nicotine pouches have subsequently garnered much attention, along with Vardy's claims that he shuns gym work so as not to bulk up and hinder his explosive pace.

Speaking ahead of Monday's concluding group match against Slovakia in Saint-Etienne, the 29-year-old sought to provide a little context when he addressed the media at England's Chantilly training base.

"I just had one bad night's sleep so I needed Red Bull to wake me up," Vardy explained. "The nicotine patch, it's not something I do regularly - it was just something I needed at the time.

"The medical staff are more than happy that I'm on them.

"I'm happy to be doing what I'm doing at club football. It's worked for me this season and in previous seasons, so why should I change it now?

"It's definitely not just the Red Bulls, put it that way. I eat like anyone else, normal foods.

"That's just how I am, everyone's different. My metabolism keeps me slim."

Vardy's second-half impact last time out could win him a starting berth versus Slovakia, particularly in light of Roy Hodgson switching to a formation using two central strikers.

Nevertheless, the man who plundered 24 Premier League goals last season concedes he would understand the England boss keeping him in reserve.

"You can see the logic, definitely," Vardy continued. "If players are getting tired, it's probably easier [for me to] exploit. But I'm happy either way.

"It's down to me, with what I do in training, hopefully to get in the gaffer's mind to maybe get a start. We'll see what happens."

Vardy added: "The performance overall against Wales was very good. We created a lot of chances and we didn't deserve to be losing at half-time. We need to keep on doing exactly what we're doing and the goals will come."

Better reaction time sure helps, but everybody can drink an espresso, or ten, before the game. It's worse when the nature calls on the pitch...

I honestly think he'll do well for Arsenal if he goes over. They need someone who actually wants to score goals instead of trying to pass it in.

Wenger thinks that he is staying at Leicester.

Never thought I'd see Leicester players turning down Arsenal. Fabulous.

Vardy is crazy if he turns this opportunity down. It's what you play football for he won't get this chance again.. He should go to Arsenal and challenge himself, as it's unlikely Leicester City will even make the Europa League next season with the teams improving and challenging.

If it doesn't work out at Arsenal Leicester would probably take him back again. There is no better time to move when you've that hot. Leaving on a high is what legends are made of ala Cantona.. Let people wonder how Leicester City would've done with Jamie Vardy next season, sometimes it's better to leave the memories and mystique for people to debate.

Plus Vardy's WAG would love it and you never pish of a woman !

I'm this is a once in a career opportunity. He's 29. He or Leicester are unlikely to repeat the same season.

Wage differences aren't big with £120k offer from Arsenal to £100k he will get at Leicester. Wenger tightfistedness sure helps staying loyal to Leicester.

But he's in a unique situation, he's just played a part in a massive underdog story that will see him earn legend status in Leicester, he's probably only got 2-3 seasons at the top level anyway why not just stay with Leicester? I mean even if he goes to Arsenal and scores 15-20 goals, they'll probably win feck all it it would be for nothing anyway.

Meh I just think he should stay, if he was 23 then yeah Arsenal would probably be a good move but he's coming towards the back end of his career at a club who love him (and will probably offer him a much better contract) I don't see the point of gambling that away.

Vardy is wise to stay put. He is a one trick pony and deep down he knows it. Would be totally found out in Arses game which doesn't play to his strengths.

Cantona didn't leave when he was hot.

Leeds basically got rid of him.

Any other player can do what he's doing to be fair. There are plenty of things that improve your performance which are perfectly legal so I do not see how just because one expert says the Red Bull and Nicotine patches can improve performance by 7% makes it automatically something that should be prohibited.

I still think this is done:

"Can you comment on the rumours you're interested in signing Santi Cazorla"
"I don't know a Santi Cazorla"

I've a cynical mind with these things, having seen tonnes of it in athletics.

It's only just come out now that he's doing these little tricks. These are what he's now been found doing and admitted to.

What else is there that he hasn't?

Sort of agree with you. But since when was signing for Arsenal "What you play football for", when they've won 1 trophy more than Leicester over about 10years, and haven't won the league in yonks, which Leicester just did!

2 Fa cups vs 1 league one title, 1 Championship title and 1 Premier league title.

Unless you are counting the glorified pre season friendly that is the Charity Shield.

Are folks taking that RedBull/Nicotine story seriously in terms of questioning if it should be legal/illegal? I'd be more shocked if the vast majority of sportmens and women weren't taking caffeine prior to any performance.

Then again, as some folks have always said if Coffee/Tea/Caffeine was only discovered today in 2016, it would probably be fecking banned.

You think Vardy is the only player using legal stimulants? Plus, I severely doubt out of all the options available Red Bull and Nicotine patches are the best methods. Additionally, if he was guilty of other things, why bring the spotlight on himself?

He didn't. He was photoed with a handful of each, and the questions were asked of him.

Hes proving it at international level now too.

you mean by scoring every time he is actually played as a central striker for England? and Against Wales being his 1 and only chance? isn't that what makes an international striker?

Chris Waddle put it best, back in the early 90's if Vardy had been released by Shef Weds at 16 another Prem/Football league club would have snapped him up but when Vardy got released the fashion had moved on, its already starting to come round again just with the success of Vardy

So he was clearly going to great lengths to conceal his use of the substances.
actually he said he's had a bad night's sleep so had a red bull to wake him up and doesn't normally use them.

why all the fuss over him using a legal stimulant anyway? I would have been more surprised if a professional footballer didn't use them

Precisely. Like I said, I really doubt Red Bull is the best option anyway, the thought of trying to exercise after having a carbonated drink makes me shudder. If anything the surprise is more about the choice of stimulant Vardy uses.

well like I just said that was a one off just to a lack of sleep from the previous night, it was also on their day off was it not?

Being rejected by Vardy is embarrassing for Arsenal. Lets not try and deny it. fecking hell
