Jamie Vardy | One journalist's silly example of someone United could sign on a free this summer but probably won't because he has the wrong profile

He's still scoring at his age so credit to him. Just turned 38 so you wonder how long he can carry on. Perhaps a backup for a season, I could see it happening where he moves to a big club before retiring.

Good thing is, he arrived in the PL at 27.

You're all looking at this wrong, it's about appeasement, someone doesn't wanna face Rebekah in court!

7 goals in the league this season. Wouldn't be a bad option to have off the bench!

Would’ve been a good loan signing now til the end of the season. In the summer though? Very confusing.

club might really be cooked. and I'm one of those that likes Vardy

According to Whitwell and The Athletic, he’s being considered as a free agent this coming summer.

Just how fecked are United?

Thats's not what the article says.

It's a piece in which he looks at possible striker options who could be on the market for United in the summer, and near the end he says:

Given United’s financial position, there might be a temptation to look at the free agency market, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, 27, and Jamie Vardy, 38, both out of contract in the summer. That, though, would go against the plan for youth.

This after already having discussed all of Gyokeres, Sesko, Delap, Mbeumo, Kane, Guirassy, Ferguson, etc.

At no point does he suggest United themselves have expressed any interest in Vardy.

Good work. There's enough drama around the place without people adding more unnecessarily.

not sure a senior pro coming in, downing port, redbull and ribena in a pint glass is the kind of cultural reset we are looking for, but it would be a hell of a ride to watch.

Day 1: He arrives in, parks in Fergie’s parking spot, then knocks out Kai Rooney in his first training session.
Day 2. There was no Day 2.

Don’t have a problem with this as a back up option to another proven striker, can help train Rasmus too.

You've bumped a two year old thread, not posted a source and, as @sullydnl has pointed out, are completely making stuff up out of your arse. Reported.

I have an Athletic subscription, this is the article:

There is just one mention of Vardy in a long page full of many names:

United are NOT considering signing him on a free at all, it's an afterthought even in Whitwell's own speculation.

Please fix the title @Reapersoul20 .

Seems a lot of our fans are still in denial about the fact that the club is broke.

We're not spending big this summer - our cash position and debt obligations won't allow it. This is, unfortunately, the caliber of transfers we should be expecting.
