Happy for him. Always liked him as a pundit. Made a bad mistake but it is not liked he raped anyone.

What do you think is reasonable then? Carragher suspended for lifetime from punditry?
It doesn't really matter what I think to be honest but I will say spitting has never been a legitimate answer even to provocation worse than this (it really wasn't that bad)
You just can't say Jamie spitting at someone was an accident because he meant to spit at someone else.
Its the same charge! I just found it funny

Huh? The one who rile up was his dad so what his daughter has to do with anything? Ok happy guy.

She’s the spawn of the douche driver so she’s fair game in my book.

What kind of prick behaves like that with their daughter in the car then goes crying to reporters after being spit on...I hate Liverpool with a passion but seriously feck that guy.

Of course. I agree with you wholeheartedly, but I think the point here is everybody needs second chances.

Holy crap, are you a secret member of the Israel special forces?

Good for him. He served a suspension and was judged in the public eye. He served his sentence and should be able to go back to his life. My take on this has always been the guy followed him in his car to harass him and got what he deserved. Just because you’re on tv doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be afforded the same rights and freedoms as anyone else.

So spitting on someone is a right or freedom? I mean it's morally pretty obtuse, to spit in the face of a young girl over some light hearted banter, and spitting at someone can actually be considered an offence of battery in the UK.

Poor oppressed Jamie not being allowed to spit at who he pleases.

I hope nev keeps referring to it in their hilarious rival banter
Haha no way will that be allowed, clearly in the off limits section. Imagine G Nev: 'Oooh Jamie your team lost, what are you going to do, spit on me? I'd better get tested..'

They'll probably make one joke at the start and then brush it under the carpet.

You're being deliverately obtuse. You know exactly what he means.

Is it acceptable? No, it isn't, but there are mitigating circumstances here.

I agree with this. Most people would lose their job over this, I can't see how returning after a suspension is in line with the rest of us.

Not fully convinced everyone would lose their job over spitting on a stranger. Given Carragher wasn't even arrested, I doubt most companies would even find out.

Not everyone but if you're a public face of a company, a salesman etc, then there's a high chance you're losing that job

Possibly well known figures and government workers might if the press found out. But most people would be fine which is why I think a suspension and losing a marquee position with the Sky Sports team is enough punishment.

Obviously what he did was terrible, but not something he should've lost his job over given the way the driver was acting too. Probably the right result.

Would love if Neville took the piss out of him about it on MNF but I doubt he will, somehow.

Absolute joke that he’s returning to sky as a pundit. How can you spit at a 14 year old girl while driving and keep your job?!

Vinnie Jones was dead on when he was asked about it. Pathetic.

I mean, most people probably would keep their job if they did do such a thing.

Don’t know what line of work you’re in but if footage of me spitting at a child while in control of vehicle was given to my employers; I would be sacked.

What do you do?

This was all carefully planned since the day of gobgate.

Yeah no I personally think he should have been sacked. Decent pundit but what kind of absolute weirdo decides to spit at somebody because they're annoying you? It's such a weird, disgusting reaction to provokation. Call him a tosser, wind your window down and get on with your life. Don't spit at somebody because they had a few cheap jabs about the result. I guess that is kind of what I can't get over, why spit? It's not an ordinary reaction for any half decent human being, I can honestly say I've never thought about spitting on somebody who has annoyed me. I was brought up to believe that it's just a vile, cowardly act which only scumbags would ever resort to.

I forgot he did this. I don't really care anymore.

He'll be back on Sky Sports with Neville next week. I wonder how Neville will get him with a spit joke?

It is a weird reaction, and one you struggle to believe was a first offence which is what Carragher claimed in his soft soap mea culpa for Sky in the immediate aftermath of the incident.

However I've got to be honest and say because I find him a decent pundit and I like his chemistry with Neville on MNF on balance I'm happy to see him back. I know I'm an apologist for nasty behaviour that could well see many ordinary people booted from much less lucrative work but there it is.
