Why are people critiqing the dads driving in a thread about Carragher spitting at someone? :wenger:

I'm pretty sure Carragher didn't spit in outrage at the guys driving

I think folk are pointing out their dislike of people using phones while driving. Which is a criminal offense and has caused countless accidents, deaths and injury.

Massive campaign about it in the UK the last few years so it's a sore spot with a ton of people, as it should be really.

You probably shouldn't throw around terms like child abuse for incidents like this, it's pretty insensitive.
It’s a fact. You can’t attack a child no matter what the provocation.
If you don’t understand the law fair enough but I’m not saying this glibly.

How is it always the ones talking sense doing stupid shxt like this? Jamie kinda lucky that other guy wasn't the PAOK owner.

Compared the Toon Army to a Tsunami. Not long after the 2004 disaster. The bell.

I think I remember Tony Cascarino refering to Armand Traore performance against us as 'a holocaust'. Ridiculous really.

and Alan Pardew once said about a Michael Essien tackle on MOTD "he absolutely raped him"

@TheReligion

What crime is worse? Carragher spitting or the father driving with the phone out and filming/chasing him?

I'd have thought driving recklessly would be the bigger crime given that a car can kill people while spit is... spit.

Taken quite a big leap to assume that every person who films driving ends up killing people. Well done.

I think we can all agree that the guy driving the car, using his phone and shouting at Carragher was an idiot - does not in any way excuse Carragher spitting like that.

They didn't say that though did they? THey said "can kill people" i.e. it's possible to do so and being distracted by a phone increases that chance massively. I've never seen anyone say 100% of people who use phones and drive kill people.

I'd hope the driver Is found, and banned from driving for a very very long time.

Carragher has said he did now know there was a child in the car, he was reacting to the constant abuse being hurled at him. Is that wrong? Yes. Is it a sackable offence? No (but it may be as the media circus will deem it so)

What a day in age we live in for Carra is being hounded out for reacting to a person who uses his mobile phone to film while driving with his child in the car. The persons aim was to hurl as much abuse as carra until he reacted. The idiocy from this person is beyond comprehension for me.

It's still such a bizarre incident. To be so wound up that you spit at someone, it's madness!

People questioned the credibility of Neville as a pundit after his failure at Valencia which I think was a bit unfair but I could see their point. How is Carragher going to be able to criticise someone for losing their rag or doing something silly now?

For example he criticised Lovren for losing his temper and fouing Fellaini in the 2nd half, helping us get a free kick and kill time. If he did that now I'd just think yeah but you lost your temper and spat into the face of a child.

I think the best he can hope for is a suspension, it's international break soon so that may be to his advantage. By the next monday night football he'll be hoping it's been forgotten.

You are not wrong, but the bolded claim is incorrect. You can't call "2-1, Carra 2-1" for constant abuse being hurled at him..

The problem being that Carra also isn't really looking at the road in the process.

They are both imbeciles imo.

Perhaps read my post again.

It's a stupid post. You're going at the worst possible assumption without knowing what speed they were driving or what was the status of the road.

Also Carragher also isn't wearing a seat belt and not looking at road.

Yeah the dad clearly wasn't thinking straight at the time. He was likely caught up in the moment following an epic United win over our biggest rivals, noticed Carra driving beside him took the opportunity to give him some banter - rather tame banter at that - probably not the wisest move considering his daughter was sitting in the passenger seat next to him, but there is no way he could have expected such a vile reaction from Carra. Having never been a position like that myself, I'd like to think I would pass on the opportunity to give Carra some banter after considering my daughter was with me (then again my little girl is only 7 so she'd be in the backseat anyway) but who knows.

Why is it so hard for you to accept that filming someone with your phone whilst driving, while you are unnecessarily goading them, with your daughter in the car, is a twattish thing to do?

You're trying to brush it off as something "most of us have done" or would do in the same situation, but it just isn't. It's something you just don't do if you aren't a bit of a thick twat.

It's not like it absolves Carragher of being responsible for spitting at someone, but if you're going to criticise him for the incident it's only fair that people might also criticise the dad.

Constant abuse! The absolute state of this.
She's sitting right there, he has to look past her to even see the driver.

What a day in age we live in for Carra is being hounded
And 'what a day we live in' when seemingly every offender - from Pistorius to Johnson - has someone to defend them online; and all because of angst about 'keyboard warriors and their virtue-signalling', 'pc gone mad', 'compensation culture', 'you know how women wind men up' & other boneheaded complaints.

Both should be punished.
Driving without a seat belt for Carragher & using the phone while driving for the dad of the year contestant.

Father will hopefully get in trouble with the mother of the young girl.

Fault on both sides here. Carragher will no doubt regret his actions now, but the person goading him and filming the incident on his phone whilst driving with a child in the car needs to have a long, hard look at himself also.

I haven't watched the video given it's on the Mirrors website, that's a big no, no for me. Were they moving when he did it? You've got Carragher who (I assume) is using both hands to control the car and the other fella is using a phone to film. He should get in pretty big shit for doing that given the drive lately by the Police to cut down on phone use while driving. If this was happening on a motorway as well they'll get in more shit given it's putting everyone else at risk.

A story like this does put it into perspective how shit it must be being a pundit though being chased by pricks like this guy.

You're being biased against Carragher because he's a Scouser and said yourself that spitting is a worse crime than driving recklessly in a car. I'm sorry, but that's a stupid post KM. Like utterly, utterly stupid.

Spot on Steve. We had posters on here defending the homeless scum who robbed and took pics of dead kids a few months ago.
There's a thread on here asking why posters feel the need to be the perfect fan but it's more than that, they need to be the most balanced person on earth.

Yes they were moving. Hard to tell the speed.

You may wanna read my post again and in full instead of picking at little sections.

Carragher reacted in the wrong way. He reacted to a scenario where he was being goaded and filmed over a length of time by a driver of a car, which is illegal by the way. Not to mention the risk the driver put to his passenger, his daughter by the way by using his phone in this manner.

The state on drivers putting passengers at risk while filming trying to gain a reaction for social media likes.

Yes, the state on this

fecking PC gone mad, bunch of virtue signalling snowflakes, you can't even spit at someone these days without people saying it's wrong.

Yeah, both moving. Doesn't seem like it's some great speed, but nevertheless.

Safe to say, that only person who has any sense there is a 14-year child.

He has history of reacting badly to being shouted at. A formal caution in 2008 for it no less. If this has been pointed out already I apologise - I do not have time to read every page at the moment.

What has amazed me is the amount of 'It's a horrible act, but.........' type calls to Jim White this morning. Danny Mills trying his best to sound outraged at the actual act whilst stressing what a gent and charitable philanthropist Carragher is. I seem to remember Mills saying that spitting was one of the worst things that a fellow professional could do, just a few months back - obviously it is OK in real life when provoked, but not on the pitch.

To be fair there have been a lot of pro-Carragher comments on here praising his punditry and saying they hope he keeps his job - and that the driver is an idiot too.

Put the boot on the RAWK foot if this had been Neville, do you really think one single person on there would have stuck up for him?

Not Neville no lol. But maybe if it had been Scholes some might!

I think we can all agree that the guy driving the car, using his phone and shouting at Carragher was an idiot - does not in any way excuse Carragher spitting like that.
This. It's really simple. Why the hell has this gone on for 17 pages?

Yeah, both moving. Doesn't seem like it's some great speed, but nevertheless.

Safe to say, that only person who has any sense there is a 14-year child.

If both are moving, then Carragher is not only not in control of his temper, he is not in charge of the car if not looking at the road.

3 penalty points for the driver for using his phone at the wheel and 3 month suspension from Sky until the end of the season for Carragher.

Done and done.

It's 6 points + 200 quid fine now for using your phone with a switched on engine.

Not sure if already mentioned but MNF appears to have been cancelled tonight... well shortened, appears the program starts at 7:30pm instead of the usual 7pm so I can only imagine they'll be at the Bet365 or if they'll still based at the Sky studio's they'll be no analysis of the weekend games and concentrate solely on Stoke v City

Either way dont expect Carragher to feature

Yeah, I just checked:

You must stay in full control of your vehicle at all times. The police can stop you if they think you’re not in control because you’re distracted and you can be prosecuted.

Penalties
You can get 6 penalty points and a £200 fine if you use a hand-held phone when driving. You’ll also lose your licence if you passed your driving test in the last 2 years.

You can get 3 penalty points if you don’t have a full view of the road and traffic ahead or proper control of the vehicle.

You can also be taken to court where you can:
It's a 6 point offense reading the above. I hadn't realised they can take away your license if you're a driver newbie.

The dad is a massive twat as well (doesn't make Carragher the victim, mind) but I have to be honest, his "Jamie Carragher just spat on my daughter. NICE." at the end is fecking hilarious. Dying here:lol::lol:

That part was absolutely bizarre. To be more correct the whole scene is.
