I'd be over the moon with James signing, I wouldn't get rid of any of our attacking options. Rooney is clearly leaving so he can fill his squad role.
When was the last time James played on the wing and when was the last time Mata played as a #10? Also James is no doubt a tidy player but it would mean Pogba playing in a 2 man central midfield.
Mata or Micky don't really play as RW, even if they start there in the lineup.
They drift in, while Valencia covers the wing aswell as the rb, I don't see why James can't play in that role.
It's got to the stage now (early June lol) that I'd now go for this. The idea of him and Morata might be good for us

Darmain is hard to watch surely we are not going to be subjected to another season of watching him boot the ball anywhere.

I just changed my vote to yes, at the time I voted no because I thought we were signing Griezmann but now going for James makes more sense.

He's a good player, and very good to watch. The trouble is he frequently disappears, an issue if you're playing him as a forward, a bigger issue if he's part of a 3 man midfield. He's also looked on the podgy side of fit for periods at Madrid. Maybe that's partly because he isn't a first choice at Madrid, certainly he usually looks good when he's playing for Colombia.

Don't think this is happening now. You'd imagine that if we intended to sign him, we'd be negotiating the deals for him and Morata simulatenously. So far, the majority of the reports have been regarding Morata and there's been virtually nothing concrete on James (as far as I know).
Hmmm, 17 goals and 18 assists in 2014/2015. If Mourinho can get him to produce even clos to these numbers, he will be a great signing for us. He also represents great value over Griezman, perhaps a better player for us as well.

If Griezmann is not coming he makes a lot of sense. Him Fabinho and Pogba will be a great core centrally.

Oh, I didn't realize how long this had been up. It does make sense that people would be sceptical about him when it looked certain we would get Griezmann. Now, though, there should be no doubt.

I don't want him at a no.10. I think I would prefer Mkhi as a No.10 and get quality wingers instead. If James can fulfill that role then great, but otherwise we should look elsewhere.

I agree, I could definitely see him at AC Milan as part of their big rebuild this summer.
You can thank Moyes and LVG for their atrocious dealings in the transfer window. Both of them dont have a clue how to build a squad.
We did pretty good business on Depay and Schneiderlin, two players who weren't getting game time and surplus to requirements.
James and Morata are both young with bags of potential. They'd improve most teams but when you have as much talent as Madrid do then this happens. Its not like Madrid brought them in for pennies and sell on for much higher.
Actually getting a mupperection thinking about James and Morata. The two of those for 100m would be money well spent IMO.
I don't think Mata or Mkhitaryan are wingers tbh I think they're both better as a 10. But Mata in particular should not be on the wing it's not good enough. I'd rather be looking at this...
