Okay thanks for the clarity, so what makes a strong squad player a better option than a weak first team player? Also how do we differentiate between stong squad players and weak first 11 players?
A strong squad player offers more to a team than a weaker first team player, as he is not restricted to certain positions and can impact a game from the bench irrespective of Formation, tactics etc.
A strong squad player's effectiveness isn't necessarily based on playing in his preferred position but his ability to still be effective in any of his roles for the team(Park,Milner,Mascherano - during his stint on the bench,Modric etc), a weak first team player is usually second/third best at the position in his team and usually ends up on the bench (unless he becomes a utility player -Young), he usually doesn't provide any impact from the bench.
