James Maddison | Spurs

Leicester had a midfield three of Maddison, Tielemans and Ndidi and that worked. Some were calling it the best midfield trio in the EPL at one stage.

How would Maddison, Bruno and Casemiro differ?
Well for one, Ndidi and Tielemans aren’t AM. Bruno and Maddison play the same position… unless we’re gonna go to a 4-3-3 and have 2 AM playing in CM similar to how city play and then 1 deeper which will be Casemiro.

Playing devils advocate here, but we played Casemiro-Eriksen-Bruno until Eriksen got injured and everyone thought of Eriksen as an AM before we started playing him.

And in fact he had more games as an AMC in his career, than all the other positions put together (until he moved to us).

If Casemiro-Eriksen-Bruno works, so might Casemiro-Bruno-Maddison. At least in many games it should work, but maybe not for every game.

Eriksens got the long range passing/vision to play deeper though and I’m sure he played deeper at Brentford so it wasn’t us that turned him into a cm it was Brentford. Maddison I don’t think as ever play Cm has he?

If they can balance a midfield of B.Guimaraes, Joelinton and Maddison, they will do extremely well. Especially with an attack that consists of St. Maximum, Isak and Almiron. That is a deadly team, well capable winning things.
He will have lots of option/offers in the summer, and Newcastle probably will be the most attractive option for his career in both sporting and financial term. Other option except City won't guarantee him either trophy or a starting spot anyway.

It was actually Inter that turned him into a CM a couple of seasons before but anyway.

Maddison has played games a CM and so has Bruno.

The point of that set-up, the way Pep played it, is that neither is CM or AM specifically. You have 1 holding player and two players who pivot between these two roles.

If you refer to my first post, I clearly stated that Bruno has recently been playing deeper, and in my opinion, he's looks really good there.

Lets say ten Hag was going to use him there more often next season, it would free up that number 10/more advanced 8 role, and I personally believe Maddison would be perfect to fill that slot.

City won't guarantee him starts either. Intense competition there and KDB is still the main man. Gundogan might be going, but there's still B.Silva and Foden to compete with.

I think Newcastle is probably his best option in terms of anything but title winning ability, yet.

Eriksen started playing CM even before that, actually. His last couple seasons at Spurs he played CM a fair bit.

Fair enough. Was unsure wether Maddison as played Cm as I’ve only ever seen him as an AM and I didn’t really watch much of inter when eriksen was there but ye my point was we didn’t turn in him to a cm he was one before us. I think his AM days was with spurs. As you get holder you drop positions as we seen with Rooney. Also how do you expect us to control games with Bruno and Maddison in midfield?

Ye I agree. Don’t trust Bruno as a Cm against top teams though. We’ll get away with it against lower sides where we’re expecting most possession.

Good backup to Bruno - who has the chance to maybe take his position if he's not performing.

Probably going to join Newcastle for half the price that they offered last year. Good player but not great.

I think hes a good player but not one we need. Like many have said, Newcastle seems the obvious landing spot.

Good player but wouldn't be for us or ETH, I don't think. I don't think we've ever seen the running ability and off the ball stuff from Maddison. Maybe a top manager can improve that but starting during a relegation battle would have been good, if it was there. I think that would be the difference of why ETH is looking at Mount rather than Maddison who would probably be easier to secure.

He's one of the better English players with the ball at his feet, though. You can't really argue with some of the numbers he puts up.

unlike Tielemans he'll succeed when he leaves us but he won't get the staring role he had here

He's shite. Up his own arse and thinks he's a worldie. Big fish little pond. More about the lifestyle than the actual game. English Memphis Depay.

Lee lang-in looks a better player to me and is cheaper.
Kang-in Lee is a good shout and looks a baller, He appears to have a £14.7m release clause as well. I haven't seen much of him but his name keeps popping up, and at that price, a no brainer. Could be our new Park Ji-Sung.
