There you go. When asked about options you come up with "its not my job". So maybe let the ones who are in that job do their thing? Or is it a general tendency for fans to moan for anything the club does?

How about trying to get a player that fits the profile a manager is looking for? And get the best one out there fitting that profile?

I wish PSG thought that it's wasn't worth paying 180m for talent like Mbappe or even City when they signed KdB for big money pre Neymar transfer. Only if it was so easy to find talent, with fitting profile, shopping in bargain bins that offers similar quality as what Jadon does.

But yeah I guess running the club are clueless fecks who should just listen to fans who witness transfers happening under special circumstances like last year of contract, players recovering from ACL, the club being in ruins ala Valencia.

People complained when we just got the players for the sake of it. People complain when there are standards set for recruitment. The complaints and moaning is the only thing constant here.
 
It's been awhile but I'm glad there's still dangerously worrying people on here offering up Wilfred bloody Zaha as an alternative.


Also, my Sancho senses are really tingling today.

Fans seem to want us to magically get the best players for peanuts. We have to remember also that if we’re not spending the money it’ll just be paid out as dividends to the glazers. Why do we get so worked up about the fees? Leave it to the club accountant. I’d rather worry about the squad quality.

Shareholders where glazers have a the say, good if you buying that. Manchester United were a global giant long ago before glazers, they only listed to make some profits. Who are you to say fans are naive and childish, it appears you the one behaving so. Does that all the clubs and fans who payed over 100 million naive? Everything is about perspective, unfortunately it appears you only see the financial side but without success it will take a hit as well
 
Last year we got Dan James for 15m. We know how that turned out. Are we expected to just keep signing cheap players hoping that one of them turn out to be good?
 
Part of the summers' transfer budget was Bruno. Anyway, I reckon whats' hurting the club's finances is the dross the club has been purchasing over the last 7 years and very likely still paying the instalments on those purchases. Then there are the contract extensions given away like confetti on players who are basically not up to standard or on semi-permanent sick leave. There's obviously the dividend payments which need to be honoured when most sensible owners would cancel or defer for a later date during these times. United's success on the pitch should be looked at as long term goal and not just getting into the Champions League if that is the goal of the owners. They want to get winning big trophies before losing the younger generation of future fans who will then spoon-feed the owners.

Well we don't know how that turned out, do we? We're a year in on a punt on a young player. James was never intended to be an immediate starter. A bit ridiculous comparing his signing and this potential one.

Before James the squad had no recognized RW. And whatever people are suggesting i.e save money shop elsewhere quoting Gnabry, Coman etc who weren't starting XI material at the time they were signed, we did the same with James. At least that's how I see it.

Ayush bhai,

It's pretty simple to quote players after they become a success. Hindsight and all that! However, does anyone, ever mention the players purchased with potential and failed? There will be many multiples of these types of players not succeeding and losing clubs many millions.
 
I think he's a very good player and will definitely improve our attacking options without question but I still don't think he's worth 108m either.

Still want us to get him though and at this point it's going to be a huge disappointment for many people of course if we don't. Overpaying for players has become our thing really. But I'd rather overpay for a good player which he is.
 
Fellow Muppets of Muppetland, I believe today will be Sancho day (Sancho weekend). Here me out.
I'm not an ITK or anything but this is my assessment of the situation. If we don't get positive news by today ( absolute latest by Monday) - I personally don't think it would be happening this window. This is why:

1) Have been following various news reports regarding i) the previous Aug 10 deadline, ii) Dortmund already planning for next season with Sancho, and iii) not enough time to get a replacement before the season. I would imagine, if I were in Dortmund's place, either he is out this weekend, or he stays. I don't think they would drag this on till Oct 5th - they wouldn't risk it. This would be the absolute final deadline.

2) There was a "breakthrough" in the deal apparently (agent, personal terms, fee, etc etc) whatever it is - on Wednesday. So things should be happening behind-the-scenes already as we speak. It cannot drag on any longer than it already has as I think both clubs will start to lose patience. There literally is no reason for a further delay, if we are to believe reports of a breakthrough. The saga has already gone on for the entire window. Now, it is going to come down to a very simple yes or no. It's either happening or its not.

3) If it's a NO tonight, then we would have just over 3 weeks to find a replacement from today. Reaching an agreement with another player/club would take at least a couple more weeks. If we let this drag on for another week, and its still negative - we literally won't have time to sign a decent replacement and end up panic buying.

So bottom line is - all fingers point to today for some reason. I have a gut feeling that something should happen tonight (even if not 100% official confirmation). Expecting news one way or the other. Let's just hope that its the news we have all been waiting for. Fingers crossed.

Maybe as a player his worth is questionable. As Maguire, it's more how much he is valued for Manutd.
We are desperate for a RW, like we were for a CB and clubs know this.

If we say he is £10/20m too expensive and we have a poor season and then next season someone else gets him, we will all be saying we should have signed him.

I know we need other players but they will be around, Sancho is a must Imo.

They won't. They want the best signings at the first attempt for the cheapest prices.

I can talk about Nolito, Jesus Navas, Borini, Cuadrado, Mkhitaryan, Nicolas Pepe and other wingers who were signed for cheaper prices.

There is an element of luck required with a signing. The only thing you can do to ensure that the signing doesn't turn out bad is getting the best player available that fits your requirements. The numbers Jadon has put up during the last 2 seasons shows he is operating at a great level.

Overpaying is something we just seem to do. Still a very good player and we'd rather have him than not wouldnt we?

Don't think he's done enough yet to warrant such a fee. Have Dortmund even won anything with him?

Well, the market is not based on trophies, there is alot more to it. He's had 2 consistent seasons, he was creating chances and scoring goals in the league and CL, he is 20, he can play RW and LW, there isnt that many wingers who can play both positions as effectively in the modern game.

Then there is the case of other transfers such as Felix, Griezman last year and Havertz this year. Sancho is more talented than Havertz.

He went to Dortmund to do exactly this, develop into a top talent, now he wants a move for trophies. He could say the opposite, why should I join United? What have you won in the last 3 years?

Why? It's not a big story in Germany. English press have spread so many stupid and obviously false rumours regarding Bundesliga players over the years people don't take them very seriously anymore. Dortmund seem to have given a clear answer to one of their more reliable outlets, so people who were wondering about it got their answer.
 
We won`t hear anything serious from the BVB press till we actually make a bid don`t know why anyone expected anything else. I suspect this saga will drag on a little as Dortmund will make things VERY difficult for us me feels but we`ll still get it done

Yep because we all know Dortmund speak nothing but the truth regarding their players and transfer activity, as they've proven throughout the years.

I'm thinking there's a lot more to this than the clubs are telling the media

Ah, I can't wait to read 10 more tweets about how we've agreed to personal terms, but Dortmund is still demanding €120m.
And that we've found a solution with the agent fees.
And that we're preparing a bid of £X + add ons, but Dortmund want the full €120m guaranteed.

What do people think needs to happen next in this public saga? United saying personal terms agreed. Dortmund saying Sancho seems happy and won't agitate to move.
