Hmmm. No. Transfer requests only exist in british football. Sancho handing in a transfer request = his agent tells dortmund he wants to leave. That's it. It does not waive anything unless Sancho/his agents also tell BvB they waive whatever % of the fee they're owed(this submitted in writing)
Those situations were different. These rumors were never as dead as Sancho to United currently is. In the BVB forum on transfermarkt.de, the Sancho thread quietly resides on the third page, the last post on August 26 about a video clip of him nutmegging a team mate in training - that's how much it bothers BVB fans currently. The thread about the rumor has been closed since August 10. This saga is only still on in England. I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you - to me it seems as if this is kept alive artificially to grind some attention from United/EPL fans. Zorc leaned himself out of the window far too much to eat his words at this stage unless Sancho goes into strike or something. And currently he doesn't seem to bother too much.
If there still are talks then I guess it's about a transfer in the next window and journos are leaving that detail out deliberately.

But yeah, as soon as reports came out that Edward offered paycut for Sancho and 60 mil for Dortmund i knew this was going tits up. I think our whole budget for this season was 120 mil (108 mil) so we will buy 2 players more, both for 30-40 mil.
Thats to you though cause we never do this. Whenever interest is dead for a player we never waste time briefing it and transfer forums being closed mean very little as they just follow media hype with zero information about what is actually going on behind the scenes. Sancho himself wont need to strike if we pay the money as thats the only thing that will determine this transfer not principles or sending a message. If we pay up he leaves if not he stays.

It's also not about sending a message. Dortmund probably had a gentlemen's agreement with Sancho that he could leave if a club is willing to pay 120m for him until August 10. Given he extended his contract last season, they never really wanted to sell him in the first place. Why would they? They can profit from him for another season and still get the same money next year since he's under contract until 2023.
And yes, rumor threads can be shut down quite easily but don't you think that Dortmund fans would be up in arms and discussing this topic when there was any indication that Zorc could eat his words and sell him this window? People don't even talk about that anymore, the rumor is dead in Germany. Nobody even considers the transfer over here anymore, Zorc's statement is perceived as set in stone. It's really extreme how different the perception of all that in both countries is. Not even slightly comparable with Dembele and Aubameyang.

I have been of the opinion the whole Summer and have stated on numerous occasions that this deal doesn't make any sense from a Dortmund and to an extent Sancho perspective this Summer. If I am wrong, great.

The bigger question here is why Falk does not push for this story to be put in any of the publications of the BILD-Group given that he is one of their head reporters and would absolutely get a high amount of reactions given the public comments of Dortmunds head officials. Ongoing negotiations would directly contradict that the matter is closed from Dortmunds side.
It is also not only BILD, either. Literally nobody in Germany is reporting about these talks. I personally would have expected at least one paper to jump on the rumours in England if only for the hope to get a big exclusive out of it but not even that has happened. If this deal is indeed still ongoing it would be one of the most onesided reported transfer sagas I have ever seen. Usually if a Transfer concerns two different leagues and countries, you get informations from both sides or at least one side fully reporting the others informations. If you would exclusively follow German sports media you would have no idea that the deal is not buried.
It goes even further than that, though. Not only is there no talk about these negotiations, there are also no rumours about Dortmund trying to sign an offensive midfielder. The ones that existed like Memphis Depay have dried out and are now far more frequently linked with other Clubs. I said it before in this thread, but links to other offensive players would probably be one of the best ways to gauge how far along These supposed talks have advanced. Given their current financial situation the sale of a player would be a requirement for them to spend any significant money on another and the only one who is even rumoured to leave is Sancho.
No matter how much some posters believe to understand how Borussia Dortmund is run and what goals they pursue, but anyone who has gained any kind of insight to the Club will very likely agree with one thing: Borussia Dortmund won´t sell Jadon Sancho unless they have either enough time to sign a replacement (that ship has probably sailed by now) or have already someone suitable secured. Sancho won´t leave Dortmund unless there is a successor in place. This is simply not how Dortmund operates and would invite a massive backlash not only by the press but the majority of the fanbase. They won´t sell their best player of the last season just to sit on a mountain of cash without a target to spend the money on. Sancho is too important for them for that.
We need to just pay the money, we had no issue paying £80mill for Maguire. BVB aren’t going to budge on their price.
Messi potentially leaving Barca does change the landscape for Sancho but in a far worse way IMO. Sancho wants to return to England, so I doubt he considers a move to Spain. What may happen is that Barca would use the Messi transfer funds to target one of Mane or Salah. If the dippers do sell, which they may do to cash out one either one in their prime, is then use those funds to get Sancho. Considering they’ll likely pocket £80 million or more for each player means they can offer a larger sum up front to Dortmund. Ed cannot overplay his hand here.
You're basing this scenario on the fact that Barca would plunk the entire amount of money for Mane or Salah which buy all accounts, they don't have yet. Furthermore, Barca need to buy a lot of players. I don't see them spending that much on one player in this window or the next. Therefore, Liverpool would not be able to afford Sancho. They haven't bought Thiago yet for some reason and he's cheap. If Barca go for Wijnaldum then Thiago to Liverpool could move forward.
I still think we'll get Sancho this summer. It's a big deal and will take time. United will pay up in the end as always.
I just can't see Barcelona trying to get Sancho. They would need a bigger name to please the fans. Forking out €120 million on a player most Barca-fans hardly have seen play, simply wouldn't do it.

I've read that the reason he wants to leave Germany is because he's homesick and wants to come back to the UK, so why would he move from Germany to Spain, or France etc if he's so homesick? If there's no source I don't see it personally, signing a CM instead of a RW? makes no sense.
Plus reading about someone reading a T1 report is more of a tertiary source unless proved otherwise.
