Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

Or we just don't have the cash they want upfront /not part of clauses so spend on one player. I feel this would be moving a lot faster if we really had the liquidity to give Dortmund the terms they want. It's not in our interest either to drag this one.
The club is still paying massively for the incompetence of the past transfers and giving out contracts like confetti to mediocrity. So you could be right about the liquidity issue.

The interest rates are at a historical low at this moment in time and I would expect them to remain so over the next decade. It won't be a massive hit even if they did pay upfront. That's obviously assuming the banks will provide the required facility and the club is up for the risk.

This guy has the easiest job in the world. When Bild were running their stories it was all "don't believe negative updates", "talks going on 24/24", "advanced negotiations". Then a day later it was " Man Utd are also frustrated at the pace of the discussions. "

This one speaks for itself I guess. It was one of the few times he really committed to a statement.

This "new" message United have received is something that he himself said 9 days ago.

He's just going to feed you non-committal "clubs talking, maybe United pay up maybe they don't" until he can latch on to some credible media report.

Where does he say anything about a 'new message?'

Twitter bigwigs and media survive on clicks. We're the seagulls (muppets) following the trawler (media).

Courtesy of Cantona

"When the seagulls follow the trawler, it's because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea."

He didn't, ofcourse people want to just talk nonsense about every journalist now.

They would think Romano lied about David Silva to Lazio too as Silva signed for Real Sociedad.

It's going to go the way its looked like it has for awhile, we're eventually give them exactly what they want. Ole won't be let down.
If you were the club and Dortmund refuse to move from 120m up front asking price, what would you do?
Move on or pay?

For Oles top target for 2 years in a position we haven't had a player since Nani and for a player that is 20 years old and puts up some of the best numbers in the world I'd pay it in a heartbeat.

Will only regret it when he goes somewhere else and we are still looking.

Also we paid 80 up front for Maguire and there is no competition , 120 for Sancho is a better deal than that so.....

If paying the amount to secure Sancho won't disrupt the clubs finances, pay.

Check his earlier updates, he has been saying this for a while now. You are basically blaming a reporter for not manufacturing news, its not his job to negotiate and move the discussion forward.

The world hadn't gone mad we hadn't lost over £100m when we sanctioned that Maguire deal.

Sancho would be willing to tell Dortmund that he wants to leave this summer but only once United have made a realistic offer.

I think that is major click bait TBH. In what reality has he or will he say to Utd, " Hey, I'll ask for a move as long as you come up with an offer"

Has he become a negotiator in his own transfer?

While it probably is BS, it's not unrealistic that Sancho isn't going to push for a move until Manchester United actually makes an offer. There's no point in risking too much when there's no offer on the table.

This is the problem though. Paying the Sancho money might mean no Bruno cover.. and no CB, if they are the positions that Ole feels need strengthening.

I personally think our defense is better than most give us credit for. But a top CB might propel us to the next level. And cover for Bruno was evident very quickly last season.

Sancho is worth £108m all day long, but we might prefer to strengthen more positions for the money. What is right? We dont know, as we dont know the clubs finances.

Sancho can play number 10. So he can backup Bruno and Greenwood can slot in RW.

I’d choose one Sancho over 2 others to be honest, he can cover multiple positions himself, and we would just have to rely on some of our backup for another season before we fix that next summer. Not ideal but you don’t miss the chance to sign Sancho.

I thought the detail about them wanting the 120 upfront rather than 40m structured was a new nugget of information.

Had previously thought the sticking point was more in relation to the total amount and us being 20m off.

Check his earlier updates, he has been saying this for a while now. You are basically blaming a reporter for not manufacturing news, its not his job to negotiate and move the discussion forward.

He could have easily said "No, nothing new, sorry", instead he went for "BVB has sent a message"...

Why are they sending messages, they can continue their losses. We will get Sancho next year for 100 million

The danger for us in that approach is:

1) By next summer, the financial climate might have improved to the extent that other big clubs are able to afford him.

2) He may not look kindly on us if we fail to get our act together and make Dortmund a reasonable offer (we have presumably promised his camp that we'll do exactly that).

3) Who knows where we will be in 12 months' time - given that we have only managed a top 4 finish three times in the last seven years, the club's stability cannot really be relied upon. If we find ourselves outside the CL places again next season, that would surely rule out any chance of a deal. In short, we must strike while the iron is hot - get a deal done this summer!

So where's the bit about it being new?

The part where he left out that this happened two weeks ago or that nothing has changed?

200 replies, 800 retweets and 2400 likes - he knows why he phrases it like that

120m upfront is a mad bit of money, even more so in the current climate. If thats true, it's as if as much as they clearly want the money, they're setting the deal up to fail. I still think they reek of desperation.

Romano saying "ManUtd got message that Dortmund want 120 million" doesn't mean it's a new message ffs

Some fan asked him the question and he posted what he knows, nothing about new message or old message.

He was asked if we were still in for him, and he's responded. He's not insinuated in any way it's brand new information. You've invented that part in the heat of your weird campaign to our him as a fraud.

Think they are ready to sell but it is us not pulling the trigger. Signing him will improve the starting 11 immensely but not the overall squad. We will be kind of stuck with the same rotation headches we had this season. Unless we sell manage to gather 40-50 mil from outgoings, this transfer will probably be a large chunk of the budget, which will leave us unable to pursue other targets.

We might very well be in a situation of signing Sancho + 1 other player but with Ole asking for 4-5 transfers.

This.

There are multiple plates being spun the same time before trying to go both feet in on the Sancho deal. Woodward has to minimise the financial risk whilst at the same time get what Ole needs.

So in parallel, he has to see how much money he can raise through the sale of the various deadwoods -- before taking the Sancho plunge and the other players Ole needs. He is in the process of ascertaining how much financial resources he has to play with since Dortmund is relatively inflexible on the price.

He did that pretty well on his own, don't you think?

He didn't say what year though, so maybe that's on me again.

How is that outing him as a fraud?!

His story hasn't changed throughout all of this.

Claim: club will offer contract extension "for sure", the player has been told
Reality: club already extended the contract a year before

People think executives will go to greath lengths, trash their own and their clubs reputation to maybe get a little edge in negotiations. But a journalists who lives by retweets passing on educated guesses as facts - how dare someone suggest something like that.

He could have easily said "No, nothing new, sorry", instead he went for "BVB has sent a message"...
Pretty sure he's said that a few times too. He is a reporter looking to get clicks, can't blame him if reports the same news in a different way after being asked the same question for the 1000th time.

Erm... No? In fact, it's another case of you imagining something in order to out the big bad fraud!

Everyone knows you can only offer one new extension every 5 years.

This. You can read between the lines, what he's referring to is the previous deadline and the value that was confirmed previously, but he's making it sound like 'new news' by saying BVB have 'sent a message.'

I saw through this fecker months ago now.

It's mad because, as far as I can see, he's probably the only Journo anybody here gives credit to? He's like the backbone of the thread.

Dortmund never wanted 120m up front, they just want a shorter timeframe for installments (2 years maximum probably)

I didn't gather that they want the sum upfront from that. What I took from it was that they didn't want the payments spread over such a long period

I don't think that's beyond the realms of possibility. If you put yourself in his shoes, it's a big step to make (and controversial) to hand in a transfer request. If it were me I'd like to think at least the buying club are putting in a fair offer for my current club before I try to force their hand.

Otherwise it makes him look complicit in us 'robbing them' for a much lower fee than they want. For me it would have to be close to the asking price before I considered doing it for those reasons.

He really isn't. You don't have to read between the lines, because it's literally in the lines . But you're reading between the lines in order to try and prove in same way he's trying to trick his audience.
