Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

Can't the Mods just lock this thread for now until something officially happens about Sancho transfer . It's bad for our health to keep refreshing this page hoping to see anything significant, only to read messages about posters arguing about who is right between Dortmund with their spin Doctors and Ed Woodward and Manchester United. We want to hear concrete news about Sancho not who is winning PR war between some Dortmund spin Doctors and the most professional, greatest football club in the world in Manchester United. Transfer deadline is 5 October, this thread can be opened then. Thank you Mods.

Is anyone really surprised at Woodward and Judges ineffective transfer dealings, Maguire signed a year later for more, Fernandes signed at the expense of the start of the season, Fellani overs massively , and the drama and obvious leaks to keep fans interested .

sure the media do like the intrigue, but the swift decisions made and completed by rivals diminish our club , is it the Glazers model or Ed’s intent on showing hard hard he is a negotiating CEO alongside his merchant Banker mate ?

Im confident we'll get him. What gets me mad its all this fooling around, Dortmund want 120M, I doubt we are offering anything below 100M or the negotiation would had been called off, so we are bargain over 20M for a player thats clearly worth it. In the meantime we could be sealing this and focusing on our next deals. It seems its all frozen until we sort this deal, and it could be like for until the very last days of the window.

What is being negotiated if there has been no talk of money? How do people buy this shit?
This is really absurd, isn't it. The entire point of the negotiation is to talk about money. In fact, that's the only point. Did that guy really think through his bs tweet? :lol

I am pretty convinced that with Ole being old school and back, nobody is now breaking the wage structures at United with new deals. That is most likely what is happening, and therefore, Sancho is not going to make more than Rashford on £200k/week. That's all. If he makes £190k/week right now, than that's his pay here.
Yeah my thoughts too. This is something we should be applauding.

Players coming in on stupid wages just turns into a distraction for the rest of the squad.

Maybe we are negotiating to ensure we have enough funds to go after other players?

Swear there’s a post every hour or two asking for the thread to be locked, just don’t come into it?

this is what I think too . We need to shift players which will be hard to do , We need more than Sancho so of we can do it in Installments we are Rocking . on the other hand Dortmund want the funds too. I think this is the sticking point but we will have to make the decision sooner or later to either Shit or get off the pot .

He said we offered to match it and it's expected we'll come to agreement (presumably on a hike) and the stumbling block is the transfer fee.

He's also called the Sancho saga fairly accurately for the past year. I think if you read between the lines on the DM article it does read like a piece put out by Sancho's camp. Specifies Sancho will not break our wage structure, will not aggressively push for a move and everything is in United's hands to put in an acceptable bid.

It reads like Sancho and co wanting to pressure United to move faster and get it over with.

I don’t mind that tbh, because that would mean he really wants to join us. Journos don’t want to burn their bridges with contacts, but contradictory articles a week apart make them look foolish.

History has showned us that while Dortmund always sells they dont do it cheap. They didnt do it for Barca nor Chelsea, even when Dembele was on strike and Pulisic had only 1 and a half years contract left, on the other side we know we dont have the greatest negotiators so I doubt we will seal this deal for less than 110M. There's no way we will close this with a substancial discount, saying 70-80M. So is it worth it going through all of this to end up spending 10M less if not the same at the end?

Ultimately I think is does more damage to our image as sloppy negotiatiors to go all around wasting time and getting slim to no results, we'll be more respected if agreeing fast or not agreeing at all.

What I don't want us to do is to panic over this. If he is the guy then wait for the guy don't go out and buy something else.

Well he said he is stay at dortmund and move on now to focus on new signing

I agree with few people want this thread is locked now

They'll be no movement this month. Zoruc said Sancho stays at Dortmund this summer. It's still summer until September when it becomes Autumn. They'll sell up then, having kept their word.

What do you expect them to do? Roll over and just pay what Dortmund want? Sure, City have been decisive signing a relegated defender and some other bloke half the Caf has never heard of. This is one of the most high profile young players in the world, its going to take time.

Guys, I think there’s a lot of sweating and stressing for no reason.

I honestly think 100% that Sancho will be a utd player by the end of the window. I’ve been following the whole saga very closely and listening to all the reports from both sides.

Utd are simply trying to avoid disposing of too much cash up front initially so that we have funds for other big signings too. Dortmund just want the big payment up front. Utd will end up doing whatever it takes eventually to get Sancho at Utd.

The Utd board would not spend the last 2 years wanting to bring Sancho in and then when the opportunity rises where we are the only ones in for him, to let that slip through the net.

There has been absolutely no bids put in by Utd yet. Let that sink in. How can our pursuit be over if we haven’t even put a bid in which has been rejected yet?

I honestly believe the bid that we do eventually put in will be accepted. This is what happens nowadays. There is negotiations with middle party agents and then when an agreement is made, an official bid is put in at that point.

Do not be fooled by the resistance on Utds side into thinking we don’t have the funds to spend. We absolutely do have the money. Dont you think Ole would be telling Ed to get Sancho no matter what it takes. I’m pretty sure Ole would be happy even if Sancho was our only signing as long as we get him in.

It’ll take more time but this is still very likely to happen.

Much has been said about what's going on. IF we end up buying Sancho, Dortmund didn't do it "easily". They put a real effort in trying to keep him. Another thing is wether or not personal terms are agreed. Fabrizio Romano are probably right, which means most journos are just pushing Dortmunds briefing. So, there are some positives here. Apart from that I agree; we as fans waste all too much time keeping updated on this saga.

Maybe we are negotiating to ensure we have enough funds to go after other players?

Agreed. I have a sneaky suspicion that Gabriel is holding his water until Sancho is signed. Smalling, our very own VAR accident waiting to happen, being sold will help, also.

If Zorc didn’t come out and say what he did, he would have looked like an absolute idiot.

He can’t just come out and give a deadline and then not react to it when the deadline has passed. He would look like a wet lettuce. He had no choice but to come out and say what he did in order to look like he still had a strong hand in the negotiations. He’s not exactly going to say “Well the deadline has passed, but ok we’ll extend it and happy to listen to offers still”.

He had hoped Utd would not let this drag by giving us a deadline. But it backfired because Utd aren’t having any of that nonsense. This is the biggest transfer in English football ever we’re talking about. It’s not something you wrap up in a week.

Zorc will be all ears when the wod of cash is pulled out.

I think people are forgetting how significant it was to get rid of Sanchez. We’ve just saved ourselves £50m+ by getting rid of him. Getting Champs league and potentiallu winning the Europa is another £70m. Add that to the pot of cash we already have, you can’t honestly think Utd won’t end up paying what it takes to get him?

Sancho is absolutely worth €120m euro. Id be shocked if Dortmund asked for anything less. Yes it’s a difficult time financially in the world, but Dortmund are in a position to be able to wait till the climate changes and still get a £100m+ fee for him.

Maybe next summer, if the market recovered back to normal from COVID and we starting have the cash to buy, we can try to bid 150m for Sancho.

I am far from an expert but I would imagine any 100 million plus deal is pretty complicated. Trouble for a lot of us is we heard the story of Leeds phoning Martin Edwards to enquire about buying Irwin and instead selling Eric to us!
More innocent times I'm afraid.
Alas those days are gone.

What should motivate him to do so? If he actually wants to join United this would be the most stupid thing to do. Do these players they pick up for nothing and sell for enormous profit get a cut from the transfer fees? Otherwise I'd struggle to see how they'd be motivated to help with these negotiating efforts..

"United have become annoyed at the slow pace of negotiations with Dortmund..."

 They'll respond faster if you don't lowballing your offers.

Sounds like "give us the money we want now!". Let's be real, if Sancho has to stay 100%, Zorc wouldn't have said he'll stay nor his team mates. He will just stay and any offer will be rejected, that's it. This is an attempt to lure ManUnited into action. It almost looks like they're more desperate for the deal to happen than United. Selling club. Their target is to get the highest price as possible as their players are only investments. They don't need them to stay, all about money. Any words coming out from Dortmund about wanting to keep Sancho can be translated into 'we demand more money from this sale'.

Farce. Could we maybe move on to and actually pull off other transfer targets? Or are they gonna do this all window long while doing nothing else???

Something happened when The Glazers and Woodward decided to sack Mourinho.

It’s a false narrative and a myth that the owners doesn’t invest as much as they can in the club the last two seasons. From that point the owners has done absolutely nothing wrong and the clubs annual reports and our latest Q3 report is a testament of that. The numbers doesn’t lies and if we closely scrutinize every number in the reports I could easily argue that the club have overspent our recourses the last 24 months, not the opposite.

1. It cost the club a fortune to fire Mourinho, sell Lukaku and get rid of Sanchez. We talk about at least £100m+. All this was done by recommendation probably from our manager and other trusted advisers. You should applaud such a bold move because it takes balls to make such a u-turn and then fully trust a unproven Norwegian manager and ex player to such and extent. Both Woodward and the owners literally put their neck in the Guillotine if Solskjaer had failed in his project.

2. The reason we overpaid for Maguire was because he was vital to Ole’s rebuilding project. Our weakness in the air and on set pieces gave us no options. Our new strategy includes that we first and foremost should buy English proven talents. Maguire and AWB was the best two defenders available at that time.

3. It was purely because of financial reason we bought Bruno in January 2020 instead of the summer 2019. Our cash reserves needed recovery and we needed another six more months to balance our books. Our Q3 report shows this in black and white. Sorry but you should applaud Woodward because he does a hell of a job at the moment with restricted resources. If you don’t see that then I’m sorry because numbers don’t lie. Journalists and Twitter accounts on the other hand....

4. Right now at this time we can’t pay £110m for Sancho in one installment. It’s impossible and the investment bank that handles us our revolving credit of £140m would‘t allow us to use so much of our own cash in such a short time. I’m sorry but there is no way we would use 90m and on top of that then use part of our credit in a Pandemic where we don’t know the outcome the second wave and its restrictions. At then moment we risk to lose more then £100m in revenues between Mars to October 2020.

5. Why do you condemn Woodward when he tries to do the best possible deal for us? Isn’t it obvious that Borussia Dortmund playing games with us and the media? They are in their right to ask whatever they want for Sancho but we have zero obligations to accept their valuation after such a financial turbulence last six months. You should back our stance to not fall in that trap and instead of mocking Woodward with insults you should back him if you care for the club.

I want Sancho as much as anybody else but I can’t overlook what I reading in our latest financial report. The numbers are crystal clear. We invest almost every penny in new players. We use our cash flow as much as we can.

We do everything possible to catch up with Liverpool and City. What more do you expect? Do you want the club to fire the tea lady and other local employees to buy a teenager or don’t you see what’s going on. I’m proud of how we handle this Pandemic and you should just look at Arsenal or Liverpool and see how other greedy owners act. Be careful what you ask for.

This is a very good post. I agree with all of it .

Woodward gets ridiculous amounts of unwarranted abuse from fans who are far less invested in the club than he is.

I agree. If they truly had no intention of selling, they wouldn’t have had to make any statement at all.

Kajumba once interviewed Sancho but I doubt he's privy to much else.

Mate you have always said he was close to Sancho's camp. I think you know that. As others have said he has a good record when it comes to Sancho.

Not sure what has changed for him to tweet this new stuff about wages, would think its coming from Sancho's camp, but unsure of the motivations of this.
