Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

Just like every transfer deal we do - it's too public and open to too much scrutiny.

We just need to sharpen up and keep it out of the media.

Zorc is being clever but we all know we will end up paying.

Just pay it and move on

Like I said we'll see later in the window and some of the bigger deals so far have been with release clauses. The Napoli one is the odd one out.
Ake wasn’t a release clause was he? He’s as average as they come and his club had just got relegated.

Two months of not paying Sanchez and not paying wages to a newly signed Sancho could play a hand here?

That’s what - £500-600k per week?

United is too big of a club for it not to leak.

These kind of deals will always get leaks, especially the longer it takes as almost every journalist wants to write about it, the media hype on Manutd transfers is enormous which is why we struggle to get the best value for money.

Somethings need to change at the club, I dont know what but there must be thoughts of a major re-structure at the football club.

Nothing has leaked our side? We cant control Dortmund ffs

So are you saying it is the Dortmund who leak we are close to agreeing personal terms?

Or that Simon Stone, The Athletic and Daniel Harris all coming out with stories is a leak from Dortmund?

It's virtually impossible for United. Even with whatever has happened since Sir Alex, we are still the biggest/most popular club in the world. Any United news will generate more clicks than any other club even if we don't want it. If United is signing a 20M player, it will generate more news that lets say Chelsea signing a 60M player.

Probably should be IF there is more outgoings trying to sell players in this market is not going to be easy and players are going to be keener to hang on to big contracts more than every before

Good point. I'd agree with that.

The only one that has had any credible links away so far is Smalling and that's because he's coming off a good season at Roma.

It might be case that there's more movement towards the end of the transfer window as clubs might have a better indication of when fans will be allowed back in stadiums.

If the government come out and say that stadiums can be filled with 50% capacity from November (unlikely, I know) then clubs might start spending some money meaning some of the deadwood can be shifted.

If that muppetiers website proves anything, it's that there are absolutely 0 leaks on the United side of the fence.

B
He lost his starting position and is on £137k a week. Why not?
Because their depth outside Sane/Gnabry is not that good and Coman is a very good back up and seen as a key player and Bayern never sell key players willingly unless there`s contract disputes like Kroos/Thiago. Also Coman is not unhappy at Bayern and Bayern via Falk already briefed he`s not for sale when the English Media linked him to us.

I can see you deeming a 33% discount as appropriate, but it'll still be the selling club having the last word. And I'm somewhat confident you wouldn't go that route, if the roles were reversed...
It’ll be the player having the last word. This all comes down to him now, if he pushes for a move he’ll come and it won’t be for 120m euros. Dortmund’s ‘Jadon is super happy and here we have 7 players not called Jadon to tell you about just how happy he is’ PR illusion will come crashing down.

How does it matter what you've paid before? Seems more like a justification for double standards.
Are you seriously asking how what we paid previously for a player would impact what we’d then demand to sell him for? Of course it has a massive part to play in the value of a player.

You still are yet to then explain how inferior clubs to us with inferior resources are still able to spend big whilst they are also facing the same problems as us with the pandemic difference being we have the capability of mitigating the risk better than them due to being vastly superior financially. There is simply no excuse not to invest in the team pandemic or no pandemic or we`ll be making the same mistake we made in 2018 settling for a poor window on the basis of a strong season only to drop by 4 positions which forced us to spend big the following window anyway. And not getting CL COMPOUNDED with the losses the pandemic comes with it is very punishing. Imagine if we didn`t sign Maguire/AWB after the defensive horror we had the previous season. Imagine if we didn`t get Bruno. We`d be looking at losses of 2 back to back seasons of no CL football as well as 30% cut from Adidas. To avoid such problems you simply have to take that hit now and as performances on the pitch improve as you can`t escape investment into the team without serious consequences so will the finances and going off past history Sancho like Pogba in 2016 is one of the most talented youngsters ITW with huge marketing potential as well as potential to be one of the very best players ITW. One of those gambles worth taking

I don't pay nearly as much attention to other teams, so I couldn't comment on why they can spend that much and how influential that cost is to them. They could be looking to offset it with sales, they may not have been impacted as heavily in regards to sponsors etc. as a result of covid, there's countless possibilities. There are clear examples of teams reluctant to spend though. Madrid and Barca, both coming off very underwhelming/average seasons by their standards, who very clearly need investment who are reluctant. The reigning champions of Europe and the new champions of England, reluctant to spend 30m on arguably one of the best midfielders on the planet etc.

This isn't just an issue for us.

If Dortmund don't drop their price, and they have every reason not to as they can ask for what they like, then we're going to have to smash our record transfer and the British transfer to get him. This when we're losing loads of money due to covid and thousands of people across the country are losing their jobs and struggling. It's not going to be a very positive message is it?

You can sort of understand why we haven't just caved in and agreed to give it them. Not saying we 100% won't do that but I think it's becoming increasingly likely this deal might not happen unless Sancho really kicks up a huge fuss.

Don’t think this deal is happening, what’s the thoughts on Coman? I’ve not really seen him play but he’s not really a goal scorer is he?
We won't get Conan without overpaying so why overpay for a worse winger that is injury prone. Just get Ole Sancho as that is who he wants

This is so definitely on still.
Dortmund playing hard ball, basically saying pay up or he doesn't leave, getting all the players to post 'we love you JS' videos, to get him to put in a transfer request, which then makes him look like the 'bad guy' for wanting to leave.

Ed's probably said we won't way, but he now knows we will have too (if he didn't all along).

Woody will remember he can do things no other clubs can do & we'll pay up.

This is much the same as every other transfer, i'm in, (i have been all along), we're getting him!

We always hear talk of clubs not wanting to break their "wage structure". Like now, there a rumours that Utd wouldn't want to break their wage structure to sign Sancho.

I don't know if this sounds too obvious, but a club could quite easily just agree a salary of something like £250k per week for Sancho but then offer him a yearly bonus of a few million which would effectively put his salary at £300k per week. It would achieve the same thing without breaking the structure?

To add to this I think we are one of the clubs in the world with the highest commercial revenue compared to match day income.

Glazers have done much wrong but in this regard they have been very good.

Yes, but we seem to get more leaks than other clubs? When signing a high profile player, you are bound to get leaks.

Agents, clubs have their own agenda. So who do you think tells journalists that Manutd are looking at alternatives? Sometimes it is the journalists on their own back, but you cannot rule out the club leaking that to force Dortmund's hand.

I don't think City have quite the same financial pressure as others. Ferran Torres was well under what he was worth.

Yes. Its all coming from Germany. All thats come from England is literal denials or vague statements about still being confident etc.
Stone has been shitting over the positive stories since day 1 and you cant find anything to the contrary

Both DDG and Pogba is paid more than the £200k/week + £50k/week in bonus/incentives Sancho is rumoured to be getting. He will earn more or less the same as Rashford I think, so the "wage structure" argument is just a media spin United have put out to make it seem we arent desperately into him which we ofcourse are.

I think that is just an excuse to not sign the player when DDG is on 350k a week and we have saved on Sanchez wages.

This is the clubs way of saving face in case they bottle this deal.

Stone is getting briefed from us.

Simon Stone might be stating the obvious, But maybe it means we're prepared to pay Borussia Dortmund what they want for Jadon Sancho.

Probably because we follow our sagas more than other clubs.

Look at Chelsea and Havertz, the links have been stronger for longer.
Beg to differ mate. United have been linked to Sancho since the end of 2018/2019 seasonseason. We've only been linked with Havertz since what...restart? At push before the covid-break. I remember the strong links started when his twitter handle liked a Chelsea fan’s comment “Announce Havertz” on the official announcement of Werner. He was strongly link to joining Bayern

I think it’s more to do with it being difficult in negotiations to claim football finances have taken such a COVID hit that Dortmund‘s valuation is now totally unrealistic whilst also being seen to have agreed to Sancho’s wage demands and agent fees without any issue.

If that's the case then Neil Custis should be Tier 1 because this thread started with his tweet in February!

So Romano was 2 months late to a Custis party.

Does Custis have the track record Romano has? You can't pick and choose mate.

Being linked with and being in negotiations are separate matters.

Not really, we have as much "leaks" as every other top clubs.

Is it though? If Real Madrid came in for Martial, would you sell for 70m? or Pogba for £60m?

Well that’s just the issue itself isn’t it, as others have responded to your post, how can you or anybody know that one journo isn’t just sat at home tweeting ‘clubs in talks’ without having any contact with the club.

Literally you or I could do that and your argument shows that people (like yourself I assume) believe some of those, so in effect a blue tick and a couple of correct guesses gets you into tier 1.

Let’s not go over old ground. It’s clear some hang on the likes of Romano’s every word, when he’s brought literally nothing to the table in this transfer, in fact the opposite. So I just find it grating that the whole thread revolves around the likes of him.

That Tier stuff is absolute pony if you ask me but if any journalist is literally sat at home making stuff up they'll be found out fairly quickly and it won't go well for their reputation with the media outlets they write for so there is that.

I use my own judgment and you'd be right not to hang on every word coming from so-called ITKs.

However, it is muppet season and this thread can be fun, I just don't take the whole thing too seriously.

You mean like it being mentioned by Fabrizio Romano as being bullshit?

Sancho is not going to come out
say that straight away that would be dumb for him, he would only break his relation with Dortmund and that wouldnt warranty him moving here so not much to gain but a lot to lose.

What makes more sense for you.

A) its a, lame, tactic they anounced after the deadline to put more pressure on United on buying him asap by saying he wont be cheaper next year because they secretly extended their contract.

B) they did secretly extended their contract just by one year, without anybody knowing. In times when is basically public knowledge of every god damn player in the planet how long their contract is.

Additionally this would have happend at least one year ago because they been trying to renew Sancho for one year now and has refused.

Come on mate, it doesnt takes much to realize this is a clear bullshit tactic.

Of course not him. But if it was bullshit we would have "sources" saying it's bullshit.

I didn't see anywhere Ramano saying it's bullshit. If he did that would be good enough for me.
