Couple of journos we're known to brief in the past have said "Solskjaer wants it done as soon as possible" - which is obvious i guess. The owners however would probably rather not pay £250,000 a week, or whatever it would be, for 4 weeks before Sancho can actually play.
I may be wrong but I couldn't imagine Ole wants to bring Sancho in to the squad with two games left of the EL. That seems disruptive. Especially with how much Ole wants to win EL.
He'd want him there for the first session after EL, no doubt.
The club also lose about 5m each home game without crowds.
Covid could end up costing the club 100m which will have to have an effect on transfer policy.
It has always been the case, reputable reporters can never be trusted unless if they are like Howard Nurse, who is someone that will almost exclusively announce public and official news. All the journalists that try to keep fans in the loop in the early stages of a negotiation are at the mercy of their sources which have an interest in not telling you the entire truth otherwise they wouldn't use journalists and would communicate publicly.

I think we're being too reactionary to every new story at the moment. I could understand concern after the EL if there is no noise.
While in theory it's plausible, the way both clubs are using the press tells me that they are simply not finding an agreement. Neither are purposely trying to delay things due to EL or other transfers, they are just not getting on the same page. Otherwise the best thing for both clubs would be to not communicate publicly.

I'm all for taking it easy with young footballers and with Sancho it's indeed just looking like tardiness - it's frustrating, but there is probably a decent chance he just grows out of it. But if reports about Dembele are to be believed it's much more severe. Having to settle for 10 grand with your landlord isn't a bit of common tardiness. Neither are his reported eating or gaming habits at Barca. And he wasn't a teenager anymore there. Especially with all his muscle injuries you'd be hoping for him to live like a model professional.
But MU haven't been briefing the press much. We've gone very quiet. That tells me we are in no rush.

Agreed. Seems United are really miffed by the fact Dortmund insisted on using an intermediary, when they wanted actual contact with Dortmund.
I still think this deal gets done, so far nothing I have seen or read has changed my mind.

A source that they trust that has been proven to have accurate info until now could give them a dud or a planted piece of misinformation. It happens.
What we know is that there is a deal to be made and negotiations are taking place. As usual it will likely drag on for a while and we'll know if it's done or fallen through when the word comes from United either way.
You have to take them with a pinch of salt, not because you don't trust the reputable journalists but because of the biases of their sources. For example in this saga, people like Simon Stone and other British journos are getting info/briefings from United, Bild and other German publications are getting it from Dortmund. Whereas people like Romano are getting info from sources around the agents/intermediaries. He even named the intermediaries that were involved in the deal before anyone knew the deal was being negotiated through intermediaries and not directly between the clubs.
I don’t understand all this narrative that he’s a nice guy and wouldn’t hand a transfer request in because he doesn’t want to rock the boat. It’s as if people think he cant be a nice guy and hand in a transfer request. That’s ridiculous. If sancho wants to come to us then why wouldn’t he hand in a transfer request? You’d like to think he has more ambition than being scared to ask to leave.

Clubs have to pay back a large percentage of the tv deal as well.

Handing in a transfer request is almost always a bad idea.
Firstly, the two clubs need to agree a fee, handing in a transfer request doesn’t magically make this happen.
Dortmund know whether he wants to leave or not, clubs do actually talk to their players, and they hold the cards as he has two years left on his contract - which he signed willingly.
Secondly, from a personal perspective, there will be financial losses to Sancho if he puts in a request - so why would he do that, when it actually doesn’t help his cause.
What Info/briefing has Simon Stone been giving us recently? He's seemed quiet to me.
It does seem odd, that despite previous amicable dealings with Dortmund, they opt to use an intermediary. Maybe they are distancing themselves from contact to contrive some animosity and muddy the waters to make it look like they are unwilling participants. They certainly appear to be frustrating United with their tardiness and obstructive communication. They must be in an awkward position With their fans, constantly selling their best players.
If they sell at all. Our reported offers are miles off their valuation. Window closes October 5th. I really can't see this ending soon.

But this is what I've been saying. Some are just out of touch. They will complain about all the "noodle deals" but demand €120m to be spent on Sancho.
I suspect the supposed offer of 50m came and then they decided to go to the intermediary until we start to make serious offers.
When Dortmund have been their noisiest. It seems we are in no rush to get this done. Dortmund want it done sooner. Once EL is over there will be more movement.
It's no advantage to us to get it done before then as far as I can tell and both clubs will still be a while off season start.
people don't want to hear that though. people just assume there is this bottomless pile of money. They want the shiney new toy and don't care what it costs and get angry when they don't get it.
I'm not a fan of the Glazers or Woodward, but they are 100% correct not to spend a 100+million on a player right now considering it's looking more and more likely there will be no crowds in old Trafford this year and the huge impact that is going to have on the club.
Dortmund aren't selling us their best player who would absolutely need to be replaced after their season starts. They're a very meticulous club, competing against Bayern even one or two games without the squad where they want it is less than ideal. That's not even taking into account the time the player would need to adapt etc.

There's the TV rebate, missing out on the pre-season tour and we don't know when full crowds will be back next season either.
