Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

It's perhaps worth noting that daily press meetings are a routine thing during these pre-season training camps and so Zorc will probably say something about Sancho as part of his general pre-season update rather than holding a press conference purely dedicated to the transfer.

I would thought it’s up to the manager to conduct the pressers and face the media’s questions? Maybe it’s different in Germany and for their clubs

It's not an object, it's a player with his own wishes in terms of what club he wants to join, bidding wars for players is a myth.

There's no magical economical factors that's going to improve his valuation one year from now unless he signs an extension

Wherever did you ever get that idea from?

As other posters have pointed out, this is how a market works. The more people demand something, the greater the asking price. Just look at the housing market as an example - the fundamentals are the same. Converservly, the higher the asking price the lower the demand.

Nobody knows what the economic outlook will be in 12 months, hence why I said it is a risk. However they still get to keep the player for another 12 months, while potentially still achieving a good price.

As we all know, players wishes have little to do with this. Di Maria's time at United is a perfect example - he never wanted to leave Madrid and come here yet he did.

It benefits Dortmund massively to get this sale done ASAP.

Imagine you walked into a shop and the guy who worked there said: “this shirt is £100, you need to buy in the next 10 minutes because I close in an hour”.

What are you going to do? He’s already told you he wants the sale but you know he’s got an hour to sell it and the longer you wait the more power you have to get that price down.
In this scenario, the shop owner would be able to wear the shirt if you didn't buy it. In fact it may be one of his favorite shirts.

The transfer “specialists” on Sky are masters of bullshit. Darmesh is bad enough, but his banter mate Kaveh is worse. They talk like they are insiders...

Why? You ask the coach about tactics/lineups and you ask the DoF or CEO about transfers. Naturally the coach will have the highest participation rate for pressers, but it's nothing special if Zorc is present as well.

It's the entire point of TheReligions claim that the deal is done but we're keeping quiet about it.

So yeah, that IS the point.

But yeah, obviously the deal isn't done, thanks for agreeing with me.
You’re again taking everything in a very literal sense. Firstly, Sancho doesn’t have to stay there until the last day of the transfer window, just long enough for both clubs wanting that to happen. Secondly, when I said the deal isn’t done yet, I meant it’s not announced yet. BVB doesn’t have to sign off on anything even if they do agree to an offer, until they haven’t secured a replacement for him. That’s totally in their right.

Bidding war is a myth when it comes to transfer fee, you don't see one club bidding 40 million, club 2 - 45 million then club 3 comes up with 50 million. Selling club sets the asking price and its up to buying clubs to match it.

Bidding war happens for player contract. When more clubs are interested, players get awesome contract as club gives better contract to convince player.

Honestly think the likes of Barca, Real Madrid will be in a better position and then you have the likes of Chelsea & PSG back in the mix as well.I just would not take that risk if I was United.

Literally everyone-

Real could spend after not doing it for an year and they need a right sided player to compete against their kid - Rodrygo.

Chelsea - they could upgrade CHO based on how this season goes.

City - Aguero's last year and Sancho could very well play through middle.

Barca - Suarez ,Dembele and Coutinho could leave and they are going to sign someone.

PSG - let's conveniently assume Sancho wouldn't go there.

Feck 20m if he is as talented as everyone think and just pay it off. It's just not worth it. If we dont get CL next season (going by our points this season, its probable), then he wouldn't come to us.

What are you on about? He said personal terms were agreed. That's something to be happy about.

He didn't say a contract was signed. The only nonsense argument is to claim that he suggested a contract was signed (in which case the deal is done).

I don't know why you've gone on a tangent about your neighbour. Not really related to anything.
Your reply in a nutshell is why these ‘journos’ are able to milk a living.

I’d rather Dortmund said he’s definitely going to be sold today. Why would you want a meltdown in your fellow fans.

What I don't get is why BVB seem so set on his price, when they let an equally big talent in Pulisic go to Chelsea for relative peanuts/ less than half price without any resistance.

I always wonder why chelski and city get deals done so quick.

I hope they’re not paying clubs in some other underhanded way to reduce the fees reported. I maybe have to much time on my hands

'No. Deal was agreed before weekend, they think snag is waiting on Dortmund guaranteeing replacement, French player, soften the loss. United briefed deal announced early this week, so probably assumed this other transfer would be completed sooner than it looks now, not unusual for this to happen though'

Latest from my pal I mentioned last night. He'll mean Ikone for the French player as he used his name before.

This whole muppet thing is definitely like a drug addiction. I see posts in here going from slight euphoria to then people seeming to be snapping at one another and getting angry, almost like we are all clucking for the next hit.

I wonder what this Dortmund lot are going to say at 3:30?

At least this all makes our day go quicker aye lads?

This the college guy at the Guardian? Really hope you're right!

 you're so sour. I don't think you actually grasped what the journalists have been saying to be honest.

Yeah if we tell Dortmund the money depends on that, we're just blowing hot air really.
I don't read all the posts here but afaik Dortmund wants that 20m to be guaranteed and us wants it to be adds on of winning CL and Sancho winning ballon d'Or.

So far we agree with them on their €120m evaluation. But because of Covid of course we'll have less money and we have no idea how our financial situation would look in the future. So we can tell them "hey guys we're a a bit short of money because of Covid, as everyone else. How about we'll pay you that 20m if fans are allowed back to OTF before this date? According to our calculation that would help us to generate enough money to pay you."

That'll sound much more reasonable I think.

Yes but all these clubs wouldn’t make us back down from competing with them all. Also, Sancho wants to come back to England. Let’s say he can be convinced otherwise, most of these aforementioned clubs are also reaching a point where a rebuild is needed except Chelsea.

But knowing our project is young and promising, Sancho will have an equally hard time rejecting us and the wages we’ll offer. We’ve done it before with Sanchez and this time we’ll be taking such a risk on a 20 year old generational talent.

It’s not all that bad to wait a year if we really have to. I see us getting him this summer only but just putting things into perspective for you.

Also - just for arguments sake, Real, City & Barca would make least sense anyways. Real want Mbappe, also safe to say Sancho will never pick city over us or chelsea even. While Barca can have an easier time saying they’ll conveniently move on Coutinho, Dembele and suarez and buy Sancho all in one window but it’s easier said then done. They couldn’t move Coutinho last summer for Neymar and can’t seem to make room for Martinez this summer either. I also agree that he’ll never go to PSG even if they did have space for him after selling Mbappe.

Any club that enters the race next year will have a tough time matching our financial package for Sancho to begin with. You can also add our project being more promising then others with a young core that will be successful for the next decade potentially and not a couple years or so before needing the rebuild I was talking about.

I'm not sour mate, I've been lurking here before becoming a full member for probably 15 years, I watch people lap up these 'reliable' journo's crap every transfer window. Myself included to some extent.

When you take a step back, ignore the blue tick on their twitter account, it quite literally the same as believing an ITK on Reddit (or my neighbour example  )

You missed my point. None are worth believing, until such time that a feckin moron knows it’s a done deal.

I didn’t miss your point, my point is you can assess what you read on a case by case basis. Your original point doesn’t really have much merit, it suggests “journalists” are one homogenous group, but your blanket statement is misplaced, as people can simply use their own judgment to evaluate info from journalists. You seem to want people to accept that all information from journalists is worth the same as a Reddit ITK.

Gonna leave it there btw as I don’t want to take thread off topic, feel free to @ me in the Reddit #2 thread if you want to discuss more, happy to do so!
