Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

No need to call anyone stupid. It could also be stupid or naive of you to ignore the fact that once both clubs do agree on a fee, they both may still want to hold the deal off as long as it suits both of them????

How the feck does it suit us to leave the player with Dortmund if we've already agreed everything. "Nah mate, you're fine, just keep the player we're going to spend a record fee on as long as you want, it's not like we need him for pre-season or anything to integrate him with his new team mates, just take your time and find a replacement and we'll play along to reduce the risk of you getting fleeced. Just make sure all the dots are signed before the window closes, and please try to avoid him getting injured while you're at it."

Yup, that's exactly what we've done.

The longer this drags, the more worried Dortmund will get. We're in the driving seat as far as I'm concerned.
Why would they be worried? He has two years left on his contact, and due to the current Global financial downturn there is only one bidder for their asset. Yes it is a risk waiting 12 months, but if the economic outlook picks up, and fans return to matches, there could potentially be more bidders next Summer.

They get to keep their player for 12 months and potentially earn the same if not more.

Dortmund are such a tedious, small time club. Remember when they wished Mkhitaryan good luck in the Europa League when he signed for us?

This is all posturing trying to mask the fact they're just a feeder club for Europe's biggest teams.

They are dickheads mate. Next time they want a player from us, we should do exactly the same back to them. Give them a taste of their own medicine. I remember we sold them Kagawa a pittance because the player wants to go back to them and they would welcome him back. Now? What a small time club being bullied particularly by Bayern

It's just a load of make-belief. The notion that everything is agreed and that we're keeping shut about it and:

a) delay the transfer, less training time for Sancho with the first team, less preparation for next season
b) allow the, potentially, £108mill brand new signing to stick with Dortmund for pre-season, potentially risk him getting injured and fecking up the transfer completely

Just so that Dortmund, the club fleecing us,, maybe, just fecking maybe, won't get fleeced by another club.

I mean, to which point does any of that make fecking sense to anyone whatsoever

Every club in Europe knows that Dortmund are willing to sell Sancho for the right fee, the sale isn't based on Dortmunds ability to replace him.

Jesus christ the amount of stupidity in here surrounding this transfer.

It's pretty fecking simple, it's complicated because they want a ton of money guaranteed, most of it up front, in a time where no one knows exactly when full crowds can be allowed back into stadiums, meaning that the strain on various clubs can be mental due to lack of cashflow.

It's not because it's some sort of secret hush hush deal where we're tugging off Dortmund.

Not saying this is the case, but it could easily be a term set by either side as part of the negotiation.

As in we accept a different thing than what we would prefer, i.e. 10m more in guaranteed instead of achievement-based.
But we then want to delay the announcement so that it looks like we fought harder, or to not impact other possible transfers, and we want him to keep training with Dortmund to stay fit cause in the middle of cup-play he would only be a distraction and wouldn't benefit from training with us.

Maybe Dortmund accepted the opposite depending on us waiting with announcement. Maybe they are getting Depay but Lyon doesn't want the announcement now to affect their cup-run. Maybe Dortmund wants a player ready to be announced shortly after to ease fanbase upset a star player is leaving.

It's all theories of course, but if a deal is in place there could exist realistic reasons that makes sense for a delayed announcement.

I have literally no fecking idea how anyone has come to the absurd conclusion that more interested clubs = higher or same transfer fee.

Next summer he'll have one year left on his contract and he could potentially leave Dortmund for feck all.

His valuation will depend on remaining time on contract, not how many clubs are interested, as such his value will go down unless he signs an extension for higher wages.

That chancer Delaney again
We know he just guesses. But Christ, how often is he wrong?

If I was in that game, I would be able to seem quite accurate simply by knowing how United operate. We don't do deals quickly and go through the same dance every single player we sign / get strongly linked to. I could have released an article a couple of weeks ago "Sancho will go on tour" - as i said on here - as it's just obvious. You just need to research and use your experience.

Delaney has been doing this for years now and still seems to not understand anything. He hasn't learned from any experience at all.

Then maybe I'm giving him too much credit, he is just a clickbaiter after all. I guess he's doing what he's paid to do.

The problem is that when we’re selling, it’s because we want to sell. And in the rare case where we don’t want to (Ronaldo, De Gea), our player’s prefered destination sure as hell ain’t going to be Dortmund.

How about we'll pay them that £20m if fans are allowed back to OTF before a specific date?

That would sound much more better than us winning the CL or Sancho to win the balloon d'Or I think.

thats exactly what we did when SAF signed Berbatov, for what was a huge fee at the time. It happens. Quite regularly in fact.

It could also be a term that Ed Woodward has to dress up like Madonna and live stream a concert.

Dortmund even fecking stated it last summer that the player was not for sale during that transfer window and that the first opportunity to leave would be this summer and for the right fee, why are we fecking pretending that this is going to be a shock for anyone and that fans need to be pleased.

At what point do some people in here stop coming up with absurd theories.

It could well be a blinking game between Leverkusen and Dortmund on who will drop their price first on Havertz and Sancho respectively. If Bayer do it, then Dortmund will be under some pressure as that sets a precedent. If on the other hand, Chelsea pay up, then United would be under pressure to play their hand. Same between United and Chelsea as the paying clubs. It feels like one domino has to fall for the rest to happen.

I quite honestly don't think Dortmund can afford to keep Sancho, offer him better wages if fans are not allowed in stadiums anytime soon next season. They are a club that depends on gate sales more than United does as their commercial revenue is not in the same stratosphere. Even Bayern are not spending much.

Obviously the deal isn’t done yet but that’s not the point!! The point is that the timing of everything could have a part to play!! Even if the influence of if might be the minutest to begin with!

And save your injury reason for someone else. Ed can’t be bothered with that. You only need to look as far back as last summer to Maguire & Lukaku. Even Sanchez who Inter signed despite his injury issues.

Anyways I’m done arguing with you mate. Your perceptions are too literal and life isn’t always that straight forward. So save me any further responses you may have. To each his own.

What exactly do you think we did when we signed Berbatov?
Everything you wrote. we negotiated all summer trying to get the right terms for us, only to conclude the deal on the final day.
The whole story was written up in one of SAFs autobiographies. Or might be Berbatov's, but I do remember reading about it.

Yeah if we tell Dortmund the money depends on that, we're just blowing hot air really.

The daily routine:

  1. Get excited. Success
  2. Login to Redcafe. Success.
  3. Check for the announcement of Sancho banner at the top of the screen. No such luck.
  4. Immediately head for the Sancho thread hoping to find a positive tweet. No such luck.
  5. Ask yourself why you're putting yourself through this stress. No response.
  6. Make a couple of irrelevant posts for reasons unknown. Success.
Rinse and repeat ten times a day minimum.

*sigh*

I have a feeling you've completely misunderstood the debate that's going on. Red Company and The Religion are pretending that everything might already be agreed with Dortmund but we're just holding off on announcing it because Dortmund will be given time to negotiate other transfers without clubs knowing they're loaded after the sale of Sancho....Pretty much the exact opposite of the Berbatov deal, where Berbatov even submitted a transfer request and said he was not in the right state of mind to play for Spurs

Ah, I see. Thanks for clarifying.
Then I agree with you, that sounds absurd. Highly doubt that is what is happening.

It's the entire point of TheReligions claim that the deal is done but we're keeping quiet about it.

It's quite conceivable, given what the reliable sources have said, it's all agreed and it's just a matter of timing with both sides happy to keep quiet and even pretend nothing is going on until late in the window.

So yeah, that IS the point.

But yeah, obviously the deal isn't done, thanks for agreeing with me.

Feel for any club who wants to buy haaland. They're going to want more than Neymar.
If they sell him next summer then yeah, they'd probably want that.
But unlikely since reports say a €60m clause is active from summer 2022.

No need to be so rude in your response. If you want to disagree with me fine, but please tone down the rhetoric.

His valuation will depend on a number of factors, one of them being length of contract. Another is supply and demand. If demand for the player increases, then the potential selling price also increases. It is one of the basics laws of economics.

As I said in my post this is a risk as the economic factors may not have increased, and their asset has dropped in value. I still believe they are in a good bargaining position.

Errr....Christ.

Don't know where to start.

You're right, supply and demand isn't a thing at all.

It's not an object, it's a player with his own wishes in terms of what club he wants to join, bidding wars for players is a myth.

There's no magical economical factors that's going to improve his valuation one year from now unless he signs an extension

330 UK time. They aren’t telling us to feck off though
Not literally no, but what do you expect them to say?

They're not going to say "yeah he'll probably leave, we need the money. Don't tell anyone but I'd probably accept £90m actually. Also, I don't know why he travelled with us"

Errr....Christ.

Don't know where to start.

You're right, supply and demand isn't a thing at all.

They aren't selling an iphone on ebay where it's easy to sell to the highest bidder, it's the transfer of the registration of a player that in most cases has his own wishes in terms of where he wants to go. City offered Spurs more money for Berbatov than we did when we signed him, Barcelona offered more for Beckham.

Exactly everyone knows what he’s going to say. Nothing changes except trying to act billy big bollocks for a selling club in front of the whole world

It's perhaps worth noting that daily press meetings are a routine thing during these pre-season training camps and so Zorc will probably say something about Sancho as part of his general pre-season update rather than holding a press conference purely dedicated to the transfer.

Funny thing is despite our "downfall" ourselves, even Arsenal have picked more silverware than them post Sir Alex.
