Wasn't the Bruno transfer dead in the water and Barcelona were about to get involved just before he signed for us. Have a little faith muppets .

How reliable is this source? Would you say Falk is more reliable?
Röckenhaus is a very reputable journalist and documentary filmer. He may not necessarily be as deeply "embedded" as local sports pundits tend to be. The article more or less sums up what Zorc and Watzke had to say about it, but does not name any additional insider information.

I'm very critical of the Glazers/Woodward but if the club can't afford 120million in this climate then fair enough. It's lean times for everyone in football.

My issue is if that is the price, and you cannot pay it - pull the plug. If that means focusing on getting a Loan in, or switching to different targets then do it. Getting rid of Sanchez is some really good business.

That's why it seems to me the price is known, we haven't pulled the plug . . . so subsequently it will eventually get done.

They`re usually very reliable, German`s biggest non-tabloid newspaper, bit like NY Times.
BUT
As others have said, it`s basically an opinion piece, quoting Watzke, Zorc and basically only report what the British tabloid press have been doing the last two weeks. No claim for insight sources.
Also, SZ rarely take part in these transfer muppet shows, they mostly report when things are done and don`t engage much in speculating based on "internal sources". Also dont have showmen like Falk writing for them.

Yeah, I have a strong gut feeling that says we bought Sanchez's contract out. There's two years left on his contract at 500,000k a week, that's 52m.
So we paid him 52 million just to leave this club so that he can sign a free transfer with Inter. I have a feeling that's what happened.
Mate do you hear yourself

It's happening tomorrow.

7pm on the 7th of August for an in initial payment of 70m Euros. Jadon Sancho holds up the no.7 shirt for Manchester United, just as the line-ups are announced for Man City vs. Real Madrid in the Champion's League and a player going to Man Utd is all the media are talking about.

- erasing Alexis, yikes, Sanchez couldn't happen faster and I think that was our number 1 priority.

- Sancho will be a Red before the weekend. I could feel it in my bones.

We don't pay him 500k a week ffs.

From memory he's on a basic 390k a week with bonuses (which he obviously isn't getting since he's not even at the club) which can take it up to 450k. And while there is a chance we might pay him off a bit, we certainly won't be paying the entire amount. Hell, it's unlikely we're paying him anything at all, as the reports are that we are probably not going to get any transfer fee because Inter will have to compensate for the huge wages for the first year or two.

Edit: I see it's already been addressed before by others.

It’s quite impossible, on the contrary.
Buying Sancho is only needed if our intention is to challenge (for trophies).
To challenge for trophies, we need to strengthen several areas, so that’s what we need to do.
Besides, we can get quite a lot of money via sales: perhaps each sold player separately wouldn’t bring a lot, but there are just too many of them - so combined they may.

Nah, it's a long term plan and that's perfectly fine, for clubs that aren't owned by dictators it's the normal route. Sancho is one of the most exciting british talents in a long time, signing him is a part of a long term strategy, there's a reason we started talks over 1,5 year ago.

We've splashed too much cash on mediocre players, so the only solution is to trim down to see whats what and then we gradually improve the areas that requires it the most, identifying the right players is key. Short term it was obviously going to cost us in terms of injuries, but long term we should benefit from it.

The cash outlay on Sancho is going to be huge, but now is the right time to do so.

Our forwards if we sign Sancho:
Rashford, Martial, Ighalo, Greenwood, Sancho, James

Generally 3 of them will start, Ighalo will most likely leave in january as i doubt we'll try to make it a permanent signing. So we see how they perform, will Rashford, Martial and Greenwood continue to evolve as players, do we have to splash the cash on a new striker? Is James good enough for the role as a backup/squad player or should we be looking at options there.

Midfield
Matic, Mctominay, Pogba, Fred, Lingard, Pereira, Mata, Bruno

I'd be surprised if Pogba stays for more than one more season, how will Fred and Mctominay perform, will Lingard improve his overall level or will we have to get rid of him next summer. Will Pereira leave this summer or the next. Essentially we're looking at Matic's last season as a starter, so we should have someone to replace him in the starting lineup, then another midfielder to replace Pogba, cost of doing that is going to be rather unfortunate so we'll need to hope that Fred and McTominay will be solid backup players.

Then there's the back 4, where ideally we'll need a new left back and someone next to Maguire, goalkeeper situation to be looked at one year from now but hopefully Henderson will be a solid alternative and him and De Gea can compete.

If we get this right, we can be in a position to mount a proper challenge for the big trophies in the 21/22 season.

There's not that many players we can get rid of, and it's not likely to bring in large sums of money either. Jones? Smalling? Pereira/Lingard? (i'd prefer to keep Lingard instead of Pereira)

Club should be more ruthless and move on DeGea so his wages can make space for Sancho. We were naive to pay £350/wk for a goalkeeper.

Nah, more like Monday. Tomorrow is too early, we aren't that close to agreeing a deal.

I wouldn’t mind thi

This saga is breaking some peoples brains :wenger:

this is a nothing saga, barely anything to break a sweat over compared to previous transfer threads on here oh my young padawan. There have been transfer threads that were longer, threads that amassed huge amounts of pages in less time than this long running one, and transfers with far more twists than this light hearted nothing saga.

Again, Ed as CEO is repsonsible for all transfer dealings and does revel in photo opportunities when finalised. What is disappointing is watching other clubs have targets and signing them why there is the usual low balling and stalling from Ed and Judge. That's so frustrating for a team on the edge of making a challenge, but no doubt the spin doctors will be informing us all that our supreme negotiators refused the demands of the selling team.

Meanwhile, Citeh and Chelski are bedding in their targetted signings and the so called biggest club in England doesn't, strange times ahead of Champions League and EPL starting soon.

Why does it take so long for you to buy a house? Look at your friends, they bought a shed and a garden bench in 1 hour.

It’ll all be fine kids, don’t worry your pretty little heads, patience is a virtue and all that.

You're not thinking long term. We had no alternatives to De Gea and no clubs were going to spend a lot of money on signing him, essentially we'd be looking at losing him for little or no compensation while having to spend a large amount to replace him as Henderson sure as shit wasn't, and still isn't, ready to take over. Chelsea spent a record breaking amount on Kepa and are looking to replace him already.

So based on the alternatives you go for the most logical route, which is stick with De Gea while Henderson continues to evolve, if Henderson looks ready then give him the chance and go from there.
