Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

City do have the option to match any bid which would give them first refusal, but Sancho may not want to back there. From my understanding, Sancho couldn't wait to get out of City and was ready to join United before City put a end to that.

I personally don't think Sancho will want to go back to City, especially with the way he left with a cloud hanging over both player and club.

Correct. The first refusal means nothing. If he doesn’t want to go there, he won’t. He won’t be going back to City.

A team doesn’t even need a fecking clause in order to take the option to match a bid anyway! What a ridiculous clause!

It’s not quite that. It means a club is entitled to know what’s going on and they need to be given chance to offer same and then it’s left to player. A team couldn’t do a secret deal without informing club with a first refusal clause.

OK muppets! genuine questions.

Do we really need a player like him? Is this a position we desperately need to address?

Would 100m be better spent strengthening elsewhere?

What would he bring to our team?

He's a genuine right winger - I'd say he's the type of player which is missing from our attacking line.
RW, CB, DM, RB is what we need IMO.

Think it's also to stop clubs pushing the price up "Well United have made a bid of £100m, what you got?" --- "City have now made a bid of £110m, we're going to accept unless you make another offer".

Before you know it, it's well inflated.

With a decent DoF it maybe would have been the case that your Club bought him from City, i mean with your RW problem it would have been an obvious choice, wouldnt it? Let it be a lesson and focus on that this will never be the case, cause you install a decent DoF as soon as possible.

We enquired, as did Liverpool, as did Spurs. City said no.

we haven't had a proper RW for about half a decade. we definitely need to improve there.

Second Watzke claimed after that case, that we will not tolerate any actions like this anymore, and given the contract situation, he would let Sancho sit in the stands.

That's not a realistic threat though is it? If they put a promising young player on the side lines like that, it would minimize the appeal of the club for young players like Sancho and Dembele who are moving from their current clubs to Dortmund, no? That would be horrible short term thinking.

This transfer would be great as long as we can fund most, if not all of it, through the sales of Alexis and/or Lukaku and his/their wages being taken off our hands. That way we would be able to afford to splash 100m and still have enough in the tank to invest wisely in a couple more places in the team.

This move makes perfect sense for us which usually means it wont happen.
To be fair, we've previously had managers who have very different visions than the board do when it comes to recruitment. This summer should be an interesting one with Solskjaer at the helm.

There was only really LVG who was on the same page when it came to recruiting exciting youth.

Not gonna happen..
Sorry I’ll expand; won’t happen, shouldn’t happen, we don’t want him, he doesn’t want us.
So that’s that then, let’s move on chaps

That is that. Chisnall_red has spoken. Chief of operations at United and personal friend of Jadon Sancho, it appears.

How's his mum and dad? They good?

Woody is prepping for a big summer  an official tyre partner and a ketchup sponsor and Sancho is as good as ours

I’m sure he’s mates with loads of players to be honest. For example he is with Winks and Alli but he won’t be joining Spurs.
Finances are a blocker for Spurs. They're not a blocker for us.

Sancho would have grown up around all the United and City youth and players. That gives the two Manchester clubs a headstart.

But City left a bad impression, which may still be an issue.

The upshot of all of this is that United are the best option on paper. It'll depend on the player.

Think you’re overplaying the friends thing. Didn’t know anyone at Watford, City or Dortmund before he joined them. Didn’t know anyone other than City players in England squad and fitted in like a glove. He’ll just go to whichever club is best for him at time he needs to make a move.

Just a rumour but I heard Fred tried to sabotage those kids so he could be kit manager and have something to do on matchday.

I'm not overplaying anything because I not saying anything definitively.

He's not going back to City, despite them having first option. Pep pretty much ruled that out. Of course anything can happen in football but it would be a huge 180. If we are serious about signing him, this summer is probably our best chance. There doesn't seem to be much competition at the moment so we just need to secure CL football and then personal terms with him.

Apart from him growing up around the United and city youth and players ‘gives the two Manchester clubs a head start.’ Sounds pretty definitive a statement to me.

Read my last paragraph.

It's on paper and depends on the player.

Sancho would have his pick of clubs. If he wants to go to Liverpool it can’t be helped. I’d imagine us, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal would all be interested.

I'd be amazed if Arsenal were willing to pay what it would take to get him

he'll not be coming back to City, hopefully there will be a decent bidding war for him as I think we get 25% of the sale.

The biggest threat to signing him (if he does leave) I think would be Barca or Real Madrid. So it mainly depends on if he wants to go to the prem.
Arsenal cant afford him. Spurs can't afford him. City got rid, Pep said he wouldnt want him back and they have quality and depth out wide (and youth). Chelsea is a mess right now, are seemingly reluctant on spending huge amounts, never give youth a chance and a good chance they dont get top 4 for the 2nd year running. Liverpool have their starting front 3 set, shaqiri as depth but have other gaps to fill before looking for big attacking signings.

United is the no brainer option from a financial and footballing perspective if he comes to the premier league. Saying that, I think he'll probably stay another season so feck knows what happens if he doesnt decide to leave this summer. We should go all out to force it through though.

We have a great chance to sign him. We must make it happen.

I think it would be utter negligence if we don’t go all out for him this summer.

What other prospects do we have of signing a potentially world class talent?

That’s what they said when we signed Morgan Schneiderlin to be fair!

Thank you! That's what always comes to mind when our fans say that bloody annoying quote. The desperation to paint our club as completely inept does my head in. Especially when it comes to rewriting history to match the narrative.

As for Sancho... Yes please! He is my top preference for a forward signing. Young, English and most importantly an actual talent!

dont city have a clause in his contract though... they get first dibs if they match the bid from somebody else (think they also have a 15% sell on fee as well)

Id love us to get him but I am not sure its going to be a straightforward negotiation and i have no real confidence in woody

Think it's best he stays at Dortmund a while longer.

We should make a bid this summer only if another team forces our hand.

Future number 7 written all over this lad.

In a few years time, attacking options of Rashford, Martial, Sancho, Chong, Greenwood is looking very healthy.
