Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

I see the price being around the £150m mark if it’s this summer. Or next summer, for that matter, if he improves on this season. If he gets into the teens in terms of goals scored next year, he’ll definitely cost that much I think.

Could be a one-season wonder. Way too early to splash the cash for him.

Pep's comments for those wondering.

“He didn't want to take this challenge, this opportunity to discover if he was able to,” the Manchester City manager said.

“He decided to go there. So it's perfect. It's going well and congratulations on what he is doing.

“He is doing an incredible performance. He did incredibly well this season. What would have happened this season (here)? I don’t know.

You'd swear he gave youth a chance to way he makes those comments. Phil Foden who is City's biggest ever star is living off scraps ffs.

Not sure if it's been posted, he did an interview recently (maybe on Dortmund twitter) and said he looks up to Rashford and Mbappe. I think we have a great chance of signing him.

City looks to be extremely bitter. I think we can make this transfer happen. he'll be even more motivated.

I don’t get this constant refencing or Phil Foden on this forum in terms of opportunity. Phil Foden gets far more opportunity than anyone of his age group at United. For someone who is not long 18, he’s played an extremely generous amount of football for the top side in the country.

Yeah, we will be paying Demeble fee and then some. £80 million would be robbery in broad day light.
Dortmund are deluded if they think Dembele's transfer fee has set the benchmark for every future transfer fee they can demand. Barca paid way over the odds because they had Neymar money they needed to spend. If it wasn't for that, the price everyone would be quoting for Sancho would be around £100m and I think that's closer to what we will eventually pay for him.

Yes, I think it's a fair price considering his talent and age. He has superstar potential, and that is worth so much more than the next tier below. Especially when it comes to commercial aspects.

I think the best we can hope for is that a good portion of the Dembele-sized (or more) fee, is performance based.

E.g. £100m down with £50m in realistic performance based add-ons.

They're not under any pressure to sell him and they knew Barca had Neymar money but they also know that Man Utd have bags of it as well. Seeing as Sancho is having a comparable season to Dembele - I don't see how it's deluded to ask anything less than the sum they received from Dembele. In actual fact, it would incredibly stupid to ask for anything less..

Bizzare perspective.

- Outstanding 18 year old talent (English too!)

- Demand for top tier talent far outweighs supply (lots of money about very little too talent).

- They don't want to sell.

- The bar is not set only by Dembele. In no way was that transfer fee an anomaly in the current market.

Very true.

It will be at the minimum a slight increase in the Dembele fee.

Fortunately, I think Woody understands the market and the potential upside of this deal. It looks a good bet.

This kid appears to be exactly what we need. Extra points for being English(no issues adapting/homegrown).

I couldn't care less how much he costs, I'd rather see us overpay than letting others get him.

We will see. I'll be shocked if he goes for anything near £150m.

I'd happily take that bet.

Also, when people say he could be a one season wonder. I think it's important to note that he's been considered a prodigious talent for years. He is simply fulfilling expectations from his youth team days.

How can anyone think 80 million will do it? They literally just sold Pulisic for 70 to Chelsea, who wasn’t even as half as good as Sancho.

Yeah but hes meant to be a unique talent no? meaning comparing him to players his age at United is kind of irrelevant. Also 'extremely generous amount of football', 15 minutes here and there when city are already 9-0 up at home to Burton or Yeovil is hardly going to do anything substantial for his development.
Again, it's noticeable that he isn't playing today. Swansea away in the FA Cup and Phil Foden still can't get a start. Why is David Silva playing? Pep's got some cheek having a go at Sancho, the city team today emphasizes why it was so necessary for Sancho to leave and any other youngster who actually wants a shot at playing some proper football.

Playing now against Herta Berlin.

Poor first 30 minutes from him. Hope he can grow into it. He's a joy to watch when he's on song.

I'd love us to sign him given his talent, but I hope people remember his age if he didn't hit the ground running with us.

If we’re shelling out 80m+ he should hit the ground running, or we shouldn’t sign him.

That's the thing, it would be difficult to just him for what he is if we sign him for that money; a youngster.
People are very patient with Rashford and Martial though, so he's likely be comfortable to grow as a player with us.
I don't neccesarily agree that we shouldn't sign him without certainty he'll make it though.

Yeah, I agree but if you blow the majority of your transfer budget on a player, you have to have an instant impact or it’s jusy a waste of your budget.

I’m not against signing him either, but I would be if we have to pay what’s being quoted have to wait half a season for him to settle.

Beautiful touch but then horrible shank wide. I have only seen the 2nd half but he has looked good. Assist from the corner.

Pulisic has been good too.

15 minutes here and there at 17 and 18 is very generous at a team of that level. It is a ridiculous assertion that Foden should be starting games weekly. We claim to have exceptional talents too, and none of them play as often as he does. And it isn’t just 15 minutes. He also starts the odd game, he hasn’t CL experience already, and there is hardly anyone in the entire country playing as much football at this level as he is at his age.

There is certainly no case to defend for Manchester City as to how much footy Phil Foden is playing.

Not really seen him, but off the way people speak about him I'm expecting some sort of mix of Best and Maradona.

Does he?

That's Sancho's greatest asset. His vision and short passing inside the box.

Two assists to help bring it back from 2-1 to 2-3 and keep Dortmund level pegging with Bayern. It also puts him on 12 assists for the season. Joint top with Messi for the most in Europe's top 5 leagues.

Missed a couple of really good chances that would've put Dortmund ahead before that 90th minute winner but overall this talent is clear to see. His movement off the ball is really intelligent, so is his passing in the final third.

He plays on the left
he plays on the right
that boy sanchooo
makes city look shite

He should be our top priority this summer.
I have only seen him play for a couple of games but he has been very good in all of them and with the number of goals and assists he has this season it would suggest that he has been very consistent throughout the season and that is very rare for a player of his age.

Get him. Let's not make the Kane mistake again, where people wanted to wait another season to see if he's actually not a one season wonder

Tied with Messi for the most assists in the top leagues around Europe now. At 18. Crazy.

I didn’t say he should be starting games weekly ffs. I’m saying as a player who has been identified as a once in a generation talent who the manager waxes lyrical about, the lack of starts he has in cup ties against lower league opposition is damning.

I can name numerous top tier talent teenagers who have played a lot more games than foden has at a similar age.
Rashford, Sterling, Alexander Arnold, Dele Alli, Anthony Martial were all playing regularly between the ages of 18-20 and look at them now.
