Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

Agent fees are gonna be substantial according to certain sources. He's with a agency called Elite project group.
Fair enough.. To be fair 100m for Sancho is likely a steal at his age and quality anyway. I was genuinely expecting a £120-130m price tag.

Him and Rashford as wide forwards would be a dream for Utd but knowing your board they will be preparing a bid all summer and leaving the coast clear for someone else to come in and grab him.
Does this tend to happen? I'm curious.

What is so strange about wanting to give Ole a chance.

He’s over achieving now with the squad he’s had, I can’t see us not giving Ole another year no matter who we sign.

ole has us competing for the champions league place without a specialist striker or a working midfield and let’s not forget his record against the best teams is incredible.

Sancho Bruno Grealish maddison will solve his problem against the fodder
I agree with this. He is overachieving - look at the injuries and the players he's had available this season. At times w've had to play Fred and Pereira as a holding 2. We've had no depth in our midfield or attack. People blaming that on Ole are wide of the mark imo. He's moulding a squad, and as I've said a good summer could see us right back in the mix again next year. This season has been frustrating but I think it will be the low point in the cycle of the team. I don't understand why people are so complimentary of Lampard and so hyper critical of Ole, for example. I think they've had pretty similar seasons- inconsistent, some excellent performances and some very poor performances. Looking at Chelsea's midfield and attack I think they have better players than us -Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic, Mount, Willian, etc. They've also managed to keep those guys fit for the majority of the season, something we haven't been able to do. Ole deserves more credit and less criticism.

To this we have the same answer - Pogba did.

if the brief is even remotely true, and this is the summer we really invest, then I’m sure the 19yr old could manage a season helping United get back to the CL.
Good point. Pogba and his agent seem be different characters that are driven by ego and money. Sancho so far in his career seems to had made wise choices, helpfully you are right and he joins. Hopefully Ed and Co can sell the club and so called project to him.

Sounds just like the Pogba situation to be honest. Juventus was a great career move for him.

News has been for a while Sancho will go to whoever pays him best next.

When we have been fully fit or close to fully fit we have struggled consistently against the low block. There has been absolutely zero movement in this matter. I can only hope Ole figures out how Fernandes slots into the team to try and remedy it as Ole has been clueless so far in these types of games

You can't say we've struggled consistently to break down teams when at full strength because we have hardly ever been at full strength. How many times have MCT, Fred and Pogba played together this season? I bet not many. I agree that as a team we have struggled to break teams down this season but we've been without our most creative player for almost the whole season. I think Fernandes will really help us in this regard and we'll see us do better against those teams.

The sample for ‘fully fit’ this season is way too small to be definitive. The size of our squad meant we were always gambling on keeping the first XI fit for most of the season, and even if Pogba alone were our only injury, what he brings, and the size of the drop with whoever replaces him, makes it a significant enough loss. That in itself is our own fault of course, and a fault of Ole’s, because the notion that a non- creative team becomes creative by sticking a creative midfielder in the middle of it is amateur in itself. If you want to have a team that creates a lot of chances, you need to build one. That means having the right sort of full-backs, and the right sort of ‘midfield’, not ‘midfielder’. So on that basis, I do blame Ole there, for setting up a team that relies upon one player to just keep creating chances in a team not set up to create chances. But then it could be argued that this is not something he was able to change just yet, and was for a later stage in his process.

Overall, I’d like to see him get more time, unless an unmissable opportunity comes along in the summer. Or if we get worse and worse. For all the gloom, it is worth reminding people that his closing balance is far from being confirmed anyway. We could win the EL, FA Cup and finish 4th still.

Ole overchieving with the squad he has

No doubt you also think Sheffield United have a better squad than us then, of course you do.

This makes sense cause he could spend three or four years here and then still go to Barcelona or Madrid. Doubt he’ll go on a free anywhere so another PL team buying him from us is unlikely.
If Liverpool sign Sancho and Havertz they will make some good business for the future. I could see Klopp staying there for a while to see them transition.

I know what you are saying. But also pogba was at utd had got a few mins and was being eased in by a manager in fergie that was no stranger to developing and giving youth a chance, I know the whole Blackburn match situation, just felt like his greedy agent made the situation worse and created a route for a exit. And of course it played out well for pogs, but if he stayed at utd from day one I honestly believe it wouldn't have hampered his career and he would have still developed to what he shows at times these days. Sancho wasn't getting a sniff and pep is less trusting in youth. I hope utd get him and if money decides it for him and no CL football hopefully utd are willing to pay. Let's just win EL and put any doubts to bed:devil:

I think there has only been two matches this entire season when we have had our first choice starting eleven.

Sheffield Utd are also overachieving. It is possible for more than one team to overachieve. SU are also an exception and an extreme case. I guess I'm saying that what Ole has done with this squad is better than what a lot of managers would do with this squad.

What? How does that make any sense, you're saying Ole has done well with this squad, better than a lot of other managers, despite obviously having zero evidence to backup that claim, how do you know no other manager would do a better job with this current squad, especially a better one

He could spend three years with us and if we’re still going nowhere, he’d still have basically his entire career in front of him.

Yeah that is a very valid point but the big question is does he feel the same way, I know it's a huge ask but Utd need to be putting the wheels in motion for this deal obviously on the provision of us getting champions league football. His price will go absolutely through the roof if he really tears it up at the euros so we have to act fast on this one.

Hopefully not. He would be fantastic here.

I am absolutely certain that Utd would have baulked at the asking price if they didn't feel that he had the marketability to take over from Pogba as the poster boy of this club who absolutely rakes it in for the club from his shirt sales alone.

Just a little example. Sancho has 3,1 million followers on Instagram. Lingard has 6,6. Playing for Manchester United, regardless of the dire state we're in, is still a huge pull, especially for a player who is so concerned about his image. The money he'll get with us compared to what he is being paid by Dortmund... it's incomparable, really. And, as recently proven by Liverpool and other clubs over and over, it doesn't take that long to get back to the top if you make the right moves. The only issue is, are we doing them.
Good post. Money and also playing time put us in a good position to convince him. Plus some of his friends are here already. With players like him, Rashford, Martial, Bruno, Pogba (if he stays), DDG, Maguire, AWB, we are building something good and you never know how fast we'll improve over the next 1-2 years.

Neil Custis has reported that we have approached Borussia Dortmund with a view to signing Jadon Sancho.

Samuel Luckhurst has also reported that we tried to bring him to the club when he wanted out at City last year. He went on to say, we were even willing to wait past the summer window to sign him, but the player wanted out at City pronto, hence Borussia Dortmund signing him.

We are nearing the One Year Anniversary of obsessing on Jadon Sancho, the first comment in this thread was Feb. 17, 2019, and we are no closer to signing him.

Happy anniversary, everyone.

We going to get him, and i hope we feck Liverpool over with a smash and grab in signing Werner.
Make it so!

To this we have the same answer - Pogba did.
While this is true, when Pogba came we'd only been struggling for three years and had just hired Mourinho (and Zlatan was also coming). There was a fair bit of belief in football circles that we were on the way back up. Now it's been seven years of failure and Ole is our manager, although obviously that could change. Sancho (or any other top player) will only come if he's confident we are going to get our act together, and that's going to be a harder sell now than it was four years ago with Pogba. Certainly not impossible and it'll be a great sign if it happens, but it's not quite the same as with Pogba.

I do not understand why people still discuss players like Sancho as an option for us.
No way we will get him. He will have to many choices in the summer to choose a non champions league team.

People are discussing exactly that, what teams might be in for him and what teams won't.

Sancho will most probably choose either liv or chelsea.

Chelsea have just signed Ziyech. They ain’t going to spunk another £100M on another winger especially when they need a striker more than a winger.

I can’t see him going to Liverpool unless one of Salah or Mane leave. Liverpool ain’t going to sign someone for over £100M just to sit on the bench and Sancho will know game time won’t be guaranteed there.

Over achieving

Imagine Liverpool fans thinking "Hodgson may be shit right now but what if we give him Messi and Ronaldo? Would be worth seeing how he does."

Very true and I agree. But same goes for Sancho. He would have been coming through under Pep who’s no stranger to developing players.

I don’t care if he’s here just for the money it will just be our job to make sure are ambitions match and get this title challenge back. The Prem is missing us badly at the top.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG all seem to be genuine options.

£100M will not be enough for the actual transfer fee, I reckon it will be closer to £120M. Then there is the agent fee, wich is rumoured to be quite expensive. I suspect that the total amount of money will be around £140-150M even before the first week’s paycheck has been sent to Jadon.

Not many clubs can afford or are willing to pay it they have, so I don’t think he has that many suitors and I’m sure we have a real shot of getting him.

Pogba also already had an attachment to the club which likely helped us a lot. People keep mentioning ‘selling the club’ to him and Sancho. He was here for 3 years before. He didn’t need to be ‘sold’ Manchester. And even if he did, Evra was probably in his ear in Turin doing that every day!

We havent signed Ziyech to play on the wing IMO

But a big reason for that is we are so threadbare. I mean we started this year off with 1 quality CM. Fred and McT have both played their way into fine form (or am I mistaken on this?). That is absurd for a team of United's caliber to be so lacking in players.
