Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

Why bother with this thread? He ain't coming here when he has his pick of clubs this summer. The guy is going to Madrid because Barca will buy back Neymar. He won't be anywhere near this United team when he walks into better teams. Our board have hopefully given up on him and focused on lesser known players like Olmo because any time we spend on pursuing him will have been time completely wasted. The bright spark is that there are probably 3 players we could get for 120 million that would improve us better than Sancho (who's good but no generational talent) but the problem is that we'll spend it on Rice or Longstaff. Sancho will never be worth spunking our entire transfer funds on even if he would come here. Mbappe is the only one worth that.
We refused to bid for those two, despite them being available in the summer.

It was paper talk just like for Bruno, Koulibaly, Vidal or Gaitan. The links to those latter group of players were just as strong, if not stronger.

The bids for Eriksen and Dybala were real. Our strategy was to go for players that were good enough for the team. Whether the players themselves wanted to accept or not, it was out of our hands.

All we definitely know is that there were no attempts to sign either Rice or Longstaff, but there were attempts made for several other players who had totally different profiles.

The ABU crowd keep saying we want Rice and Longstaff above all else. But the evidence isn't there.

No reason why we shouldn't be able to get him signed in Jan tbh, the relationship obviously ain't great now between him and Dortmund and as shown with Aubameyang they're open to selling their better players in January

If he's available in January, then I'm sure we'll throw a huge wad of cash Dortmund's way.

I think we should go in big in January off the back of this falling out they seem have had with him.

We shouldn’t waste any opportunity with this lad, what we don’t spend in Jan we will only end up spending in the summer (or more) on worse players.

Sancho, Can or Rabiot on loan and Haaland. Now that’s a January window.

Won’t happen but imagine how much better we would look especially with a fit Pogba coming back into the mix.

It makes me think that Dortmund are bitter about Sancho wanting out, possibly this Winter. There's a lack of class in the way Dortmund are going about it.

It's more likely the young player isn't being professional than Dortmund being bitter.

Didn't they do something similar with Aubameyang? Regardless, public "punishments" like this rarely have the effect of making the player more committed if that was indeed the problem. I think he's off and they are looking to save face.

Both players aren't the most professional going by their history.

I don't know about Dortmund saving face, I think they are ready to sell him this Summer window after a title push, but things haven't gone that well for them. In any case, given his contract, for them this would be the perfect window to fleece someone so I doubt they'd be bitter about that.

Are people sure he likes playing on the right?

Fair enough but every time I’ve watched him for Dortmund this season he’s been on the left. Just don’t want to waste money on another position that’s fully packed.

He can play both wings to a high level, on the right he plays differently as he looks to pass/cross more often after beating a man.

On the left he cuts in and shoots more.

Last night he was very, very good. No doubt the Barca heirachy will be on the phone to his agent ASAP. Not many people rock up at the Camp Nou and look the best player on the pitch (apart from Messi).

I suspect they'll probably ship out Dembele and try to replace him with Sancho. Getting him will not be an easy task. We desperately need top 4.

If Man Utd qualify for the CL, it’ll be between them and Chelsea I think.
Don't city have something about if they match anybody else's bid they get the first chance to negotiate terms with him?
I wouldn't rule out city bidding if thats the case - especially if Bayern are still after Sane as I suspect the costs would be pretty similar

Yeah his arrogance was something else. Loved it. If I was him I wouldn’t come here be hopefully we sell a new project to him well and boost his bank account.

I'd be surprised if they don't go all in for Neymar.

I think if we have a strong 2nd half to the season and sign some decent players in January we will have a good chance.

From most accounts he was very tempted to join us last summer, but then the poor run happened towards the end and we lost top 4 - and it stopped for whatever reason.

I just hope we can get him before Chelsea pipe up, I feel they're our biggest threat but i'm not sure they'll have the cash available to compete.

His one touch passing and movement makes him a much better fit for Barca than Dembele but hopefully they will stick with Greizmann/Dembele or go for Neymar

He looked very direct last night. Most of the times I've seen him recently he's been a bit passive and often just doing a simple pass rather than trying to penetrate. Not sure if it's because he felt he had something to prove but he's much better when he's taking players on and trying to pass between the lines.

The Star says: Jadon Sancho is ready to deal Manchester United a significant transfer blow as he would prefer a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona over a return to England.
not much of a shock...

Good. Don't want players who don't want to play for us

Not much of a story either.

He isn't a winger imo. I think he'll play a similar role to Lingard. An attacker that pops up all over the line.

According to german newspapers ( e.g. bild, tz ) Jadon was far too late for the team meeting, so that should be the reason for Favre to leave him out. I think BVB could be open to obscene offers for the next window.

How much would you regard as an obscene offer. I think he is worth £100m now and think they might want a bit more?

Think more Hazard than Jesse Lingard.

And when you have one of those, you don’t need two ‘wingers’ necessarily. You can have one of them play ‘from’ a side, and a proper winger who plays ‘on’ a side.

Dropped to the reserves for showing up late to training repeatedly under Stöger.
Shown up late for training some more under Favre.
Returned late from international break.
7/8 unsuccessful dribbles in 30 minutes against Bayern
Kicker: Sancho has developed a tendency for arrogance and doesn't adhere to rules
Late for training again.
Late for team briefing before game against Barclona.

Martial, Rashford, Sancho, Halaand, James and Greenwood as options for the front 3/4 would be excellent.

 Fair enough. Maybe next time they get a good offer they accept instead of keeping an unhappy player around and publicly criticize him.

Excellent but unfeasible, at least 1/2 of them wouldn't get the play time they'd be after and we'd have to end up selling them.

BVB had average season so far, but I believe they ll end up at least top3 at Bundesliga and they ll play Champions league next season. Why would he come to United? Every top team will fight for him, even ManCity can try him again. Money? Thats not the problem for any top team out there. History? Yeah, 90s are already gone.

Thats the problem with our situation right now. We are fighting for top6 or top4, but ManCity and Liverpool are fighting for PL and CHL titles. Same goes for Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG, Juventus or Bayern, and all those teams might go for him. And everyone of them can pay 100 mil. pounds for him.

Yes, it's clearly the club's fault if a player has a fundamental disrespect for rules and sabotages the potentially biggest game of the season.
I wonder.. would you say the same if it was someone doing the same at United?

This reminds me more and more of Dembele. On one side a player who apparently thinks he's the next Messi after one season and on the other side the (potential) buying club and its fans who tell themselves, it can't be that he's acting like an entitled brat, because he actually is one, no it must be because he loves their club so much.

Dortmund have it all to play for this season, and Auba if I recall correctly was 1) a lot more disruptive and 2) running down the contract

Not sure I agree they have it all to play for but that aside Sancho presently isn't playing a big part for them which would suggest they don't view him as vital for any aspirations they do have this season and if the reasons for him not playing a big part are due to his professionalism (or lack thereof) they may well feel its best to get him out pronto

He's a vital member of their team and starts most the games. Have you just taken the Barcelona line up and assumed he doesn't play for Dortmund much?

Also why do they not have it all to play for? They're still well placed to qualify for knock outs of Champions League and are only 5 points away from Bundasliga leaders.

No, i agree with you. If a player does that type of thing it's poor class from him; you are under contract after all. On the other hand, i have a big problem with clubs publicly criticize players like that; there is no need for it. I'm still scarred i think by what that type of behaviour did to United in the last few months of Mourinho.

It's obvious he wants out and there doesn't seem to be any gentleman agreement with Dortmund in this regard; maybe that's why things have heated up. Or maybe you are right and he is an idiot. Only time will tell i guess.

I said that about Dortmund because this is not the first time; it was a similar situation with Dembele as you say, with Aubameyang and now Sancho. Maybe they are all idiots, but it's also possible it's a club strategy to justify selling a player. Mourinho imo tried to do this at United with Pogba and to a lesser extent Shaw and Martial. It's a dirty strategy but it unfortunately exists. It's the football equivalent of "i didn't really want her anyway".

Think both Greenwood and Haaland would be ok with less playtime the first year tbh. And knowing us at least 1/2 of them would be out injured at any given moment
