Rubbish. He wasn't a key player for certain games. He started shitloads of games for the club during some of our best years. I can't help if your judgement is so poor you're equating that player with someone who doesn't look fit to start for us in our 4th to 7th placed years.
not sure how old you are but he was a serviceable player that Sir Alex liked using him in certain games, important games (would start to cover -that's what serviceable player do). At some point, it was almost like Darren was like his "lucky charm". Darren showed potential earlier on but never lived up thus turned into a serviceable player.
The point of all this is that a team needs those kind of players. Going back to my premise, DJ is only 22 years old. We just signed him. He can certainly become a serviceable player ala D.Fletcher. Cheers

That itk guy from Reddit XiSimon claims most of the office staff have been told to go home for the weekend and feck all is happening . When even the bullshit ITK’s have feck all you know we’re in trouble.

In fairness, isn't that always what the bullshit ITK's have?

So if we get even one transfer it shows he's chatting bollocks.

 that guy has been outed many times now. He was right once about when Dan James was announced, that’s it

Woodward is literally gonna leave this bid until about 3pm Monday isn’t he? Then sancho will rush over do his medical and sign in the space of about 4 hours. Monday will be mental!

Relaxed? Insert gif of dog drinking coffe in a burning room saying "this is fine"...

We have signed Wayne Rooney on deadline day. Sancho deal can still be done

It's best you stick to forming half decent arguments rather than question the age of others in absence of one.

Fletcher was a very good footballer who played to one of the great clubs sides in recent times. He wasn't an elite player ala Scholes but a really really good one. And no, every 22 year old footballer looking wank for a mediocre Manches United team can't reach that level. James has a long way to go to prove he can be that good. People have this weird misconception that the likes of Park and Fletcher were average footballers who tired and hence every team needs average players. Wrong. They were quality players who also put in a shift who just happened to have less ability than the likes of Giggs, Scholes and company. In more mortal teams they'd stand out given their quality. I'd love to have Fletcher in this United team. I don't love having James.

Off topic, but what I would give for a player like Park in this United team. His skill was underrated and his football IQ was so high, those traits were just overshadowed in the public perception by the fact that he worked his ass off every time he stepped onto the pitch.

I don't think Tina in HR getting the weekend off offers any insight into our transfer dealings. I don't think intern Mark who does the photocopying is required to complete transfers either.

Oh shit so you’re saying it’s on??

I like the idea that we've got a full office of staff who only have stuff to do if a transfer is happening. What have they been doing for the last 10 weeks?

Shite, so outgoings are a seperate department?
Utter drivel

I'd rather we not make average signings to be honest. If we're so tight for cash that we are losing out on Sancho over 20 million we need save up what we have for great players.

The 150 million spent last summer on James, Maguire and AWB is looking terrible now given the predicament were in.
I agree, but I think they’ll panic buy someone. They know the fans will be out in full force if we don’t sign someone.

With Ighalo most likely leaving soon, our attack is pretty thin, especially considering the season ahead. I can see us signing someone for sure.

What I don’t get is why we left this so long. Surely they would have known the impact of lockdown beforehand, and surely they would have run a scenario where we couldn’t buy Sancho.

I was convinced Sancho would be done, but Ole's 'the board know my thoughts' quote makes me think that we're done, rightly or wrongly in light of Covid.
Covid or not, the investment we have made after finishing on a high last season has been abysmal. This underinvestment after top 4 is becoming a trend for us.

I understand 100 plus million on a player is big money, but surely we’d have alternatives lined up (and I’m not talking players like Sarr, no disrespect to them)

Where? We can't do shit because we can't go to the ground
I know fans are fickle and all that, but surely if we don’t play well this season, people will start blaming the board, not just Ole. I’m sure all the ex players and pundits would back Ole as well.
They can’t get away with just signing a new manger.

Just having a little wobble.

Ed does know that the deadline is Monday night doesn’t he...? :nervous:

In all seriousness. He strikes me as the type of guy that would love the idea of a big signing on deadline day. Proper weirdo

Exactly. And so many were saying Willian on a free would be poor business. It’s much better than no players coming in at all.

I have to commend you muppets in here.
very committed to flogging the dead horse all window

Thank you my friend. We’ve done our utmost best. Our work here is nearly done. Once Sancho is lifting the shirt on Monday we will be moving over to the Haaland thread in preparation for next Summer. It’s sooo on, I can’t wait! :D
