Ah, but on this occasion we haven't asked her out yet at all.

We've been giving her plenty of small talk, we've moved on to chat to the next girl that caught our eye to find out she's already taken or being chatted up by somebody else.

We've decided to turn up once again 10 minutes before the club closes in hope that she's desperate and has no better options.

Will we get lucky or will she wait until the next weekend?

we haven't asked her out?

We're literally saying "take it or leave it" 5 times

Yeah that’s great but the point I was making was is that this bid will be the highest it gets. Next summer the financial state of football will be considerably worse. People need to realise that.

not really, PSG, City, Chelsea are still going to be able to spend big, Barca have supposedly been in mega debt for years but always seem to spend big on fee's, everything chance next summer with a bidding war they can actually get a better fee then what we are looking at offering now

The thing is, there won’t be a bidding war next summer or the next next summer. Interested clubs will bid the same amount and Sancho will decide where he wants to go. It’s not like BVB will or gonna force him to go to the team with the highest bid

not really if city and Chelsea bid 120m and psg came in at 150m then you honestly think they are going to give him the option of where he goes ? they aint going to say its fine we will lose out on 30m because he wanted to go to Chelsea, they would need to match the offer

This is so on!!!

So, in short, it won't be anywhere near 108 million, not even anywhere near 90 million and certainly not upfront while Dortmund won't sell whatever the offer is.

We definitely have some dodgy Watzke pictures coming with that offer...

How do you think Liverpool got Thiago?

That's exactly how it works. If the player doesn't want to move and has his heart set on one club, then all other offers are voided.

 cheers man!

Looks like I really touched a nerve

Good to see so many new passengers back on the choo choo train .... this is going to be such a delicious week of football transfer muppetry!

even united wouldn't have paid anymore then liverpool, clubs aint getting in to a bidding war for a 29 year old, they will for one of the best young players in the world, add in the fact hes never said his dream is to play for any club,

It’s not only BvB’s decision, he is not a piece of tangible good what they can just sell against his will. If Sancho next year says he doesn’t want to go to PSG, rather stay at Dormund for one more year, they will sell him to Chelsea or City for 120mil.

I find it hard to believe that if we're submitting a bid in the final week of the transfer window, it won't be accepted.

Surely the likely scenario here is that we're finally offering Dortmund what they want after months of negotiations. Not this sensationalist journalism that makes it sound like we're just going to 'surprise' Dortmund out of the blue with a 90m bid.

At this stage now, we're either paying or he's staying. We're probably 2 months beyond the 'testing their relove' stage now. I guess that's just not exciting enough to report though.

No mate it doesn’t work like that anymore. If let’s say Pogba wants to move to Real for 100M next year while PSG comes in with a bid of 120M, we can’t force him to go to Paris knowing he only wants Real. Real would also have no reason to alter their bid to 120M knowing Pogba only wants them. It’s the players ‘rights’ in this era and not up to the clubs anymore

Try Kieran Maguire too. He has a podcast and book etc. He's really good too and is often used by all the outlets for football finance experise.

Just googled him and read an article about City's finances in the light of the Messi deal and FFP. Good recommendation, thanks :)

A player is worth however much someone is willing to pay. If PSG want to pay 120, then the price is 120 for anyone else. Look at Di Maria/United/PSG transfer. While United hold a players contract, we are very much entitled to value a player however much we see fit.

PSG who have Mbappe and Neymar and in a league Sancho won`t want to join?
City who have never spent over 60m on one player and already have an English poster boy in Sterling plus Mahrez in his prime and Ferran Torres who was bought for the future?
Chelsea who already have an attack of Werner, Havertz, Ziyech and Pulisic?
Bruv there will be no "bidding war" for Sancho next year the best case scenario for him would be if someone bought Mane/Salah for big fees next year and in a depressed market nobody is paying over 100m for 29yr olds Madrid themselves who are already struggling to buy and have stadium renovations to deal with may struggle to get Mbappe next year. What BVB get this year is the best offer they`ll get unless they are happy to sell for a cut price fee in 2022

If the Sancho deal goes through, I'm sure the optimism around the club will reach immense heights because there is already talks of our front 3 being a very good one but when we add Sancho to our ranks, it will become an ever more fearful one and we'll demand more respect from smaller teams in the league. I'm sure he will torment defenders and it is very likely that our players will be wide on both sides of the flank. We'll be more spread out and what's even more awesome is, Pogba and Bruno have this wonderful player at their disposal who will collect their passes and send it back in just in time for them to move into the box. I can't wait for him to get here but also if he doesn't, I look forward to a hard hard season under Ole and eventually a breakdown of sorts in Dec and the whole cycle repeats. For me, it all depends on this one transfer and nothing else because we need one big signing to improve the overall feeling around the club. Of course we all hate Glazers and Woodward but at least we'll get to watch some quality football for the time being.

"Bidding wars" haven't been a thing for a very long time, I chuckle when I see them discussed still.

I cannot recall the last bidding war. It is simple, if Manutd bid £100m and its accepted, Real would bid £100m and be accepted.

The bidding was is with player wages and agent fees. The club will not benefit from that.

A player is worth however much someone is willing to pay.
Assuming the player wants to be sold to the highest bidder. If he would rather join another club, the sellong club can either sell for lower price or run down the contract and lose everything.

If we're playing PR games, I still don't understand them. Is this 4D chess and simply beyond my comprehension?

The press release these silly numbers, so that when/if we come up with a bid and it's higher than them... we... look good? What?

If you use the press and social media as a tool, to what end are we doing this? I want to believe there's some deep, Machiavellian stratagem at play here that my puny brain cannot make head nor tail of. What is it?
Im sure we will know all the true as soon as the window close. Dortmund is the kind of team that will tell how everything went with the negotiations ( true or false) but after the windows close Woodward would have until the Winters window to take a break and if by that time we are struggling to get top 4 , prepare yourself for a panic buy ( I don't think it will be Sancho ) .

yeah of course.

Indeed, and In this case, we are lucky we are the only interested buyer, and we know the player is happy to join. Reduces BV position a great deal.

I've given up on this window. We'll struggle to get top 4, this week will be no different to the previous ones.

Oush, getting a bit salty here.

it’s both, innit?

Pogba could say no to a 120m PSG offer, and United could say, fine, it’s PSg for 120m or United. Pogba could say fine, I’ll let the contract run down. United could say fine, you’ll get a bit part role and jeopardize your place in the Fremch NT. PSG could say look, Paul, we’ll double your salary offer from RM.
It’s all negotiations as long as there is a two-way (or three-way) contract, and everyones preferances will weigh in.

mbappe is said to want to leave, who says Sancho wouldn't want to join ? did anyone think Zlatan or Neymar would have went there ?

torres is miles behind Sancho, and it aint ever stopped them before bringing in more players, records are there to be broken,

whos to say all those Chelsea options are going to work ?

if Sancho has a better season then last year there will be a bidding war, if you think 65m with a potential of it going up to 90m is the best BVB are going to get your deluded.

Zlatan and Neymar different cases the former was sold against his will as Milan were broke he never wanted to leave Milan and the latter needed to go anywhere to get out of Messi`s shadow Sancho`s case nowhere near as desperate
Mbappe may want to leave but if Madrid struggle to afford him what can he do beside leave for free in 2022(which has been discussed as a possibility in the press)
Torres was a signing purely for the future and he`s a Spanish international dont underrate him though and as I said Sterling/Mahrez. City are not the type of club who just go and spend however they want they are more meticulous with their spending than PSG they`d only spend 120m if they have a 120m hole which they dont
Pulisic was their best attacking player last season Havertz already has a hat trick to his name and Werner just needs time(lets see how Ziyech does when he`s fit but he`s too technically proficient to flop)
Sancho may have another good season but you cant spend what you dont have and teams as it stands simply wont have that much money and dont believe everything you read in the press if you think 65m+15m will be our actual offer
