Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

Hopefully in reality our bid is much higher because I only see an extremely high bid forcing Dortmund's hand. I don't think they are desperate to sell and are happy to keep him for another year to see whether they can get more then.

The only number being quoted is from the Mail. We've had more reliable reporters saying that the offer 'won't be a token offer' and it'll be much higher than is being reported.

If the bid is good we'll see. I think they'll buckle if it's close to their asking price as this is what Dortmund have done in the past and will do again.

If the bid is a lowball it's going to be bad on here... I think even if the bid is decent and is declined there's gonna be some meltdown.

The financial climate in football will be a lot worse in 12 months time.

There’s no way we’d only offer €65m guaranteed money - that’s a ridiculous offer. There are many reports of a lower offer than asking but I don’t think any are coming from anywhere remotely credible.

If we are to get this done (we won’t), I’d expect it to be about £90m guaranteed (€100m) with Sancho making a transfer request. That would make both clubs look ok, PR wise. We get the player at a lower price and they get €100m and claim the player wanted out

If we're playing PR games, I still don't understand them. Is this 4D chess and simply beyond my comprehension?

The press release these silly numbers, so that when/if we come up with a bid and it's higher than them... we... look good? What?

If you use the press and social media as a tool, to what end are we doing this? I want to believe there's some deep, Machiavellian stratagem at play here that my puny brain cannot make head nor tail of. What is it?

There isn't, United and Dortmund are talking to each other. The only briefing I think that's been done is we hope to be able to do a deal. The rest is just journalists padding and peddling the same shit as they have for the last few months.

By caf logic then, we don’t make a bid unless it’s agreed.

So if we are making a bid, then Sancho is going to be a Manchester United player.

Muppets rejoice!

We have nearly reached the promised land

This has to be the worst saga in recent times!! Jeez.

If after 2 months of back and forth, we end up bidding €30mn less than BVB's valuation of €120mn only to get rejected - it would be an utter embarrassment!
can't wait til this is over tbh.. It has been terrible

I can't see any club paying €120m for him even next year.

Agreed, I think prices are only going to be going south and quite dramatically too. There’s a good chance many of the top leagues are not going to have fans in their stadium at all this season and if that’s the case, finances are going to be dire and there will be a lot of bargains to be had which will drag the market value down.

Manchester United will know the amount they will have to pay. BvB would have told Sancho this and Sancho's team would have relayed this information to United.

If acceptable terms are met (both clubs meeting in the middle), I can't see this transfer being too difficult.

Afterall don't forget, BvB's model is about being the stepping stone to moving to bigger clubs. This is why Sancho, Bellingham and Haaland joined in the first place. If they now start making it difficult for these guys to take the next step, BvB will all of a sudden become a less appealing place for players to go to.

If we are offering them, with easily reachable add-ons, something at +/- 100m euros they'd be mad not to accept (this isn't just my Man Utd glasses on).

When looking at the economics of this - the likes of Barcelona, Real, Bayern, the big PL teams, practically all of them are already at the point of having to sell before they buy in order to protect from the continuing Covid crash. As others have said it's clear there aren't going to be fans in stadia for at least 6 months and so, come summer 2021 this situation is only going to be worse. Sancho will at that point only have 2yrs left of his contract on a lot of money and no club will be walking up to them with a nine-figure offer.

TBH I could see them rejecting this, Sancho making a transfer request, then United putting in a 2nd bid in the middle of this one and the 120m Dortmund want which will get it over the line.

Their valuation is completely unrealistic in these testing times. It wouldn't surprise me if he eventually leaves Dortmund for considerably less than what they're asking for now.

The media and the constant BS about Sancho, take for example the Daily Express--

18th September- Utd to look elsewhere after Dortmund refuse to sell at any price
19th September- Solksjaer tells sancho progress being made
20th September- Zorc- we dont need to sell and we wont sell, player accepts this
21st septmeber- Fans vent fury at woodward and judge
22nd September- Dortmund may up price and take advantage of desperate Utd.
23rd september-Ole increasingly confident, sancho.." rashford is most skillful player ive played with'
24th Septmeber- Woodward and Judge working overtime as 90 million take it or leave it bid readied
25th September- sancho is our player is will play for us this season and will not move
26th September- Ole's priority is to improve defence
27th September- Ole happy with defence and secretly beleives Sancho is in the bag
28th september- Man utd believe Dortmund have sent silent Jadon sancho message
28th September- Solksjaer tells sancho of his confidence
28th September- Man utd fans convinced on Sancho, as Matt Judge flight theory emerges., 90 million bid still readied

What is tomorrow's headline?Pathetic journalism

Yep. It's why I think if we bid an amount that's near the ballpark of what they want (say, £90m guaranteed, £30m easily achievable bonuses), they'll accept.

Otherwise, we'll be back in January for a lesser amount which will likely be accepted as the circumstances will be even worse for us, Dortmund and the rest.

That guy is something else. Probably the best financial analyses of football clubs I've come around. Enjoyed every single thread I've read of him so far.

Try Kieran Maguire too. He has a podcast and book etc. He's really good too and is often used by all the outlets for football finance experise.

They’d be incredibly dumb not to accept whatever bid we give them because next summer it won’t be as high. They surely aren’t stupid.

I think a £90m guaranteed offer with £30m in achievable bonuses is a huge offer in these testing times. If they knock that back then it's time to move on and maybe bring someone in on loan.

Based on current projections it's unlikely that football will be profitable for a while.

Dortmund might hope for a buyer next season but unless an oil club comes in its unlikely to be much more than current valuation.

That said it would be a massive climb down to accept less now so I do think we won't get him.

I don't know. I read his whole thread. Didn't quite grasp all the numbers but it wasn't anywhere as bleak as I thought or hoped. Yes they will have losses but nothing crazy. They are actually fine, low wages to turnover ratio and not much debt.
Maybe I'm wrong.

problem is next summer if he has as good a season there will be more teams in for him, every chance the Mbappe rumours are true and he wants to leave could been seen as a target there, Messi could leave Barca again could be a target there, Chelsea are another option and more then likely pep will be away from city and there new manager might want to make a statement with a big signing, and after all the talking if we don't get it done this year Sancho might think you had your chance united am off elsewhere.

And they’ll continue to print the same shit if people click on it and share it. Let’s face it, it’s not the content, it’s the clicks that drive them and they won’t stop until they don’t see clicks.

Yeah that’s great but the point I was making was is that this bid will be the highest it gets. Next summer the financial state of football will be considerably worse. People need to realise that.

By the logic of it, you know we're being reeled in, line hook sinker

It's like asking a chick out on a bar, if you're winning you only ask once. If you kept on pretending to walk away only to come back with a better bid, you know who got the upper hands.

The fact that we're still in it after god knows how many times Dortmund rejects us shows exactly how despreate we are

What an utterly bizarre analogy.

Problem is Dortmund don't care.

They're ready to loss financially for a principle that they're not selling their player cheap.

Plus if Dortmund got Sancho to extend his contract, even if he won't be sold for 120M a cool 80-90m is still possible, it's not like Sancho would become a 20M player next year.

I think that's becoming increasingly obvious and certain, if not for the suits (who may already know this) then for the general fan.

I am one of those who thought who knows what will happen next year, more teams might be in market and there might be a bidding war etc. But I think at this point there won't be much of a bidding war. There might be more teams involved but not like a bidding war. Just not financially likely imo. I do see teams like Real, Barca tightening up their spending this year and maybe in for him next year but the price is not going to be much more than 90 or so. I see a transfer market collapse.

Ah, but on this occasion we haven't asked her out yet at all.

We've been giving her plenty of small talk, we've moved on to chat to the next girl that caught our eye to find out she's already taken or being chatted up by somebody else.

We've decided to turn up once again 10 minutes before the club closes in hope that she's desperate and has no better options.

Will we get lucky or will she wait until the next weekend?
