Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

I'm glad I jumped off the ship as soon as I could see us heading towards the tip of the iceberg. There's still time folks, still a few lifeboats left. Save yourselves before the panic sets in.

It's amazing how little news there is for a deal so many are still pinning their hopes on.

I am just about holding on to the boat only because there hasn't been a walk away brief a la Griezmann/Dybala,also very little concrete interest in alternatives as well

Yeah I’m sitting in a warm bar with a cold beer in Halifax waiting on the bodies rolling in.

Tragic.

I don't think there is anyone actually left on the ship. Those who are claiming to be on the ship, are really floating around in the water holding on to any flotsam that they can get their hands on. They like to cry out 'big sancho day', 'happy sancho day' etc. to get the attention of people who are leaving in the lifeboats.

Working in a large business I can safely say this is not true. It is your job to identify savings and efficiencies, you are already being paid to do that.
Not all businesses are the same though so if I were you, I would have qualified your statement to say " In the company I work for this does not apply"

I can categorically confirm that in the company I work for, my annual bonus is linked to my performance towards cash management and EBITDA.

Again I don't want to dwell on this accounting aspect because the main issue is that Sancho transfer will happen.

If the ship sink, we all sink together.
Live like a muppet, die as a muppet.

Are we even sure Dortmund are still willing to sell him even with a bid of £108m, they will need a replacement too. Just so much in this transfer that just makes it feel its over.

Biggest thread on the caf but biggest fail too.:(

Made a comment on reddit a couple weeks ago along the lines of 'I doubt Dortmund no to €120m regardless of their deadline' and this obsessed Dortmund fan has been replying every other day like 'Where's sancho?/Happy Sancho day'.

Small-time bunch aren't they?

Working near Luton airport. I’ll be keeping an eye out for private jets bringing him over to go straight into the starting eleven tomorrow. No sightings yet.

This deal was dead a few weeks ago. Focus on a LB, CB and less costly RW like Sarr. The dippers have shown you can buy real class and quality without completely breaking the bank. Going to the wire with this deal and ultimately being told to feck off by Dortmund will cost us elsewhere.

Well the other side of it as that we're now seen by some as the object of fun. That's a pretty sad decline.

I am up for that if the LB is Telles and the CB was Upamecano

That's a fair point, and mine is very similar, but it's not like I get a kickback of x% on savings aor result improvements I contribute towards.

They don't just cut you a cheque for saving money if it's your job to save the business money when every penny matters :)

No, but you have a target about how much money have you saved over an year which is considered as savings for the company. It may not be applicable to woodward as he is the CEO but certainly the owners are in for money and he primarily being a banker, every penny matters to him.

I would judge him end of the transfer window and not now.

100%, that would be a solid transfer window if we end up getting Sarr as well and likely all around the same price we’d be paying for Sancho. Unfortunately it’s the usual summer window: reactive rather than being proactive and absolutely misreading the market.

We've been working on this for more then a year and we know the player wants to come. If we fail after chasing him all summer and no high quality alternatives, this will be the biggest feck up i've ever seen from United; bigger the Fellaini and rejecting Thiago. There is still time but i'm worried.

Where is everyone getting Sarr from? I can't even find a thread on him in the transfer forum. There's been even less noise with him than with Sancho.

The Independent reported that Sarr is being considered as an alternative to Sancho. We need to be looking at viable alternatives since the Sancho move is dead.

Sarr fits the profile and would be a very smart signing. He had a solid first season at Watford.

This.

I can see this dragging onto the deadline day before Woodward panics and offers the intended money only for Dortmund to tell him to come back next season and Woodward is left with his dick in his hands.

Waiting to the last days will give even less time for possible alternatives if there are any quality ones left on the market, but seems like It was always Jadon or no one.

There's definitely something that United are keeping secret and not even remotely considering to brief.

Slow mo of Utd against a German side. Clive Tyldsley’s voice fades up. “Will Manchester United fold? They always fold.”

We need to cut our losses and just go for anyone halfway decent for the right wing, Greenwood can do a job there but we need someone to deputise.

Give it one more season and with the way the global economy is going Dortmund might wish they had took what we're currently offering.

I used to believe that we only got Fellaini in Moyes' first window and noone else because it was his hesitance to sign off on anyone but it just confirms more and more that Ed can only work on one deal at a time and he's fecking rubbish at doing that too doesn't it?

Feels like vdB was done by someone else on the quiet, someone who's actually competent.

I'm sure Ed does not conduct transfers
