Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

1m is a lot of money, but in relation to United it is probably like us losing a quid. I don't buy that Woodward hasn't signed someone in order to save a months wages when he got Sanchez off the books weeks ago.
Mate trust me even in a billion pound business, if you saved your employer 1 million, you would get a bonus.

You might think its not a lot of money but that could pay wages of Manchester United staff for a few months.

If you are an Accountant there is no such thing as not big enough savings. People who are revered to be top accountants are the ones who know how to maximize income while reducing costs. Ed is no exception.

What is the source of this good news
This is common knowledge to those working at Manchester United and I happen to know a few.

Ole gave Woodward Jadon Sancho as his primary transfer target. Ed Woodward knew all along the amount Dortmund valued Sancho at. There is no way Ed would fail to deliver on what Ole wanted .Think about it, if United were not going to buy Sancho, cheaper alternatives would have been brought in already.

It will happen trust me.

There's been a few "ITK'S "on this thread claiming good news is just around the corner and we all know how they all turned out  .

Good luck to you though, we could all do with some good news.

Sancho is not a car where any buyer who pays the money anytime he wants can have it.
He is a Dortmund player, a club which had a preseason with Sancho and a club which has started (well) in the cup and league.
Almost certainly Dortmund won’t accept any bid for him that late without a replacement (and no, those young players they have bought or got on loan are not a Sancho replacement as they simply can’t replace Sancho (yet)).

My fear is that we will make a bid very late, Dortmund will reject it and Woodward will praise the club for having made such an impressive bid despite COVID and will claim that the club can’t do anything if the selling club don’t want to sell.
This way not only will we miss out on Sancho but also on alternatives and that at a time when we are already very short on attacking options.

Weren't you the one convinced that this wouldn't happen? Or have i got the wrong bloke?

The situation is like a car though. It is common knowledge that 120m will secure Sancho.

It is a matter of paying it, which we do not want to do.

Sounds very similar to Maguire doesnt it?

I'd rather call it common underlying muppet belief at this point in time

I'll let you reply to this yourself
Whats your point? That guy wrote on Twitter 10 days ago that a deal had been agreed.

It was clearly a made up story which I had issue with.He gave details like pay, duration etc. Why would the club take that long to announce the deal which according to that guy was done 10 days ago.

I have not given the specifics of how long a contract and how much Sancho will earn. All I know is Sancho will be signed and cashflow management is the only reason the deal has been delayed.

I understand that logic because as an Accountant myself we do that all the time.

Unless you are a United accountant working at the club, you know as much as us here mate

No. Usually the car dealer / seller either doesn’t need to replace the car or he already has one / is planning to buy one.

Either United have a secret deal with Dortmund where Dortmund have told United that they will still sell - which considering they were using intermediaries seems rather unrealistic that both clubs have such a huge respect for each other that Dortmund have agreed to not let the German media know about it ...

Or United are just assuming Dortmund will sell last minute without Dortmund’s reassurance

By now I believe United know they are not getting him and as they have also not signed anyone else they have still not denied their pursuit. This way they will have a ready made excuse for not signing any right winger. Either that or we are working on Sarr/Brooks

Surely, we cannot still say he is main priority without any knowledge whether they will sell or not? You are risking alot for that.

If United are assuming, then the board is more incompetent than I thought.

The problem with excuses is that nothing will fly, surely us fans are not that naive. Yes covid but Arsenal, Spurs, Everton have shown it is no excuse.

Even if it is, Liverpool have shown there is other ways, they got rid of Hoever, Lovren for £20m combined fee.

Hoever has played less than 5 games, we cannot even get £12m for an experienced Smalling.

Covid is no exucse for incompetence IMO.

If they have spent this long in getting Sancho, they better get him.

After saturday's defeat I really doubt he will want to join us. I expect an announcement from him very soon that he's committed to Dortmund and he's staying.

I do not think players judge whether they join a club after one game.

Great argument, I'll quote you back when he inevitably signs for own of our rivals.
If we don’t sign him and he does end up at a rival it isn’t because we lost to Palace. Ridiculous.

I never said it's 100% on it, learn to read. What I'm saying is that even if he wanted to join, he's unlikely to want to leave a serious team like Dortmund for a team that is evidently in shambles.

Working in a large business I can safely say this is not true. It is your job to identify savings and efficiencies, you are already being paid to do that.

I know and I really believe COVID was their excuse after signing VdB, and it could have been a valid excuse if apart from Chelsea or City the other teams weren’t strengthening, but they are.
The board will (hopefully) do something until October 5th.
Dream scenario: Dortmund will confirm Depay’s arrival and Sancho’s exit soon :D

What's not true ? Saving money for the owners ? Every penny matters.

Rather than just making an assertion that something 'is more likely', try breaking down why it is more likely. If you've spoken to him and have some insight, include that. If you have experience brokering these deals or dealing with football players in general, throw that in as well.

Until then you're just asserting things based on your own personal feelings and point of view. You're looking at this through the lens of someone who is not involved in the game and has zero stake other than whether a player plays for the team you follow or not. You may well be right but you've provided absolutely nothing that supports your position. I can just as easily say the opposite to you and neither of us have a sound argument.

So until then, I believe the poster you quoted was correct in saying you're just talking nonsense. Arguments from personal feelings aren't a strong argument at all. Ultimately, none of us know, we don't know what he's thinking, what his aspirations are or what he values as being important. We don't know why he would or wouldn't want a move other than high level speculation as people not involved in this industry. Which is fine, it's a fan forum and it's what we do to pass the time but at least have a little modesty about what you're saying instead of snapping at someone who doesn't buy into what you're saying because you've given no good reason to. There is more to signing for a club like Manchester United than just simply form of the team. Who are you to say that he doesn't relish it as a challenge? To have the success of being someone who got a sleeping giant back to where they need to be? Or that he sees us as a further stepping stone or even that he wants to move back to England because it is home? Not to mention potential reputational boosts and financial incentives. Our fan base tend to talk about us as if we in the lower echelons of the football system. We are still more fortunate than fans of 99% of clubs around the world and are part of a really small % of clubs that operate at the level we do.
