Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

United have rubbished the links (as they should), not Bale.

Bale will take his 600k from whoever is stupid enough to give him that.
If we've also rubished the links on our end that's good to hear but I was referring to this from earlier from a journo who's been in touch with Bale's agent before

Btw, a little off topic, but I love @altodevil ’s new tagline.
I'm positive that everything I have heard and went on to post here is true.

If the Dortmund replacement and subsequent Sancho move doesn't happen, we'll get Brooks, and I will be vindicated in 20-years with Ole's tell-all book.

So re the thread title- if Dortmund are increasingly confident they re gonna keep him..

Lets say they were not confident at all before but now its 5% condident? That's a pretty shitty increase and still a 95% chance we ll get him.

Just saying.

Ah this is also good.

Don't want Bale anywhere near our club.

I honestly don't see the point of our first team scouts.

- You have the entirety of the European and South American market to scour (amongst others).
- You shortlist player(s) who are primary targets with a specific profile to play a certain position.
- You shortlist player(s) who are secondary and/or contingent targets with a specific profile to play a certain position.

Even taking into consideration that we're now looking at short-term solutions, the scouting team has come up with the following (if reports are believed) :-

1. Perisic, a good player who almost exclusively plays on the left. Doesn't fit the profile at all and couldn't have been a scouting target originally due to the seeming certainty that he'd rejoin Bayern for an undisclosed fee following his loan.

2. Bale, a player plagued with fitness injuries, and to top it off, a horrible attitude. If it's true that Ole is looking for a certain profile of personality to fit the squad, then it would seem odd that a competent scout would determine that a lazy, unmotivated and unprofessional Bale is the right fit for the squad.

3. Douglas Costa. Where do we start? Let's start with his amazing production, or his impressive fitness record at the ripe young age of 29. What a marvel of scouting! It's highly likely that if Greenwood were to get injured, Costa would be waiting for him right there in the treatment room.

Meanwhile, City utilise their scouting network to bring in Ferran Torres for a nominal fee, a player who fits their profile very well, and isn't super obvious. Reckon he's going to be a good player for them, and we're going to be looking back a year on wondering why our scouting team are missing top young talent alternatives that provide both a short-term option and long-term promise.

Not signing him is imo going to be the worst mistake the club has done in regards of not aquiring a target. 9/10 times when a talent like this comes through they always want to go to barca real or somewhere else but here we have a guy who is open to coming here and we were given a price. One of the best wide players I've seen come through in decades who just happens to be played mostly on the right, our weakest most shite position in a decade.

Literally this is a match made in heaven but as per usual under this parasitic ownership signings that make sense rarely happens because the money gets spunked without any purpose at all except to try and save face from fan backlash. Missing out on signings like this is exactly why we will never take that next step from top 4 scrappers to a team being able to compete for titles.

You wrote all of that (well written post) but why do you not acknowledge that we aren't actually in for any of those players and they were all just "paper talk"?

Agreed, would go completely counter to everything Ole's preached in terms of recruitment and building back a proper United squad identity

At this point, with Reguilon going to Spurs and Thiago likely to force a move to Liverpool in the last week, I feel we will cave in and end up paying €120m to Bvb towards the end of the window to appease the fans.

Which is fine. Overpaying for sure but at least it is a player Ole wants and fits his squad identity and one that wants to be at United.

Ok I'll do a prediction. If he doesn't sign by the end of this week, we will make a desperate last minute bid where we end up spending 120m euros plus add ons rather than coming up with a sensible payment plan now for a guaranteed €120m.

Or we play a game where James plays a blinder with his pace against a rattled unorganised defence and Ole is made to talk about "unleashing his great potential" and we sign no one on the right wing.

I did acknowledge that. I wrote, "if reports are to be believed".

If.

I couldn't handle that fact being a reality if it were true.

VdB is the bolded part?

We have wanted this lad since he was 15/16. The rest of our winodw has been a shit show. Havnet been able to find Ole his CB or LB as of yet. Lost Bellingham to Dortmund. Lets avoid being complete and utter idiots and not feck this one up too.

Would be nice to go into the season with a better team and actually be playing for something rather than be hoping for a miracle.

I think the links and recent Laurie Whitwell article about Reguilon tells me more about how we deal with most of our transfers.

I think United have set up a network of agents that we can reach out to in order to monitor players and negotiate on our behalf with other clubs. We now go through them to inquire about players and eventually sign them.

If our scouting team brings up new names, we first look to establish a relationship with their agents/representatives first before making a move on the transfer. That would explain us getting van de Beek; we were in touch with his agent for a while before eventually concluding the deal. The fact that we're getting those three names tells me that their agents have made those players available to us. Other names haven't popped up as we've yet to establish a relationship with their representatives.

Bale probably wanted a fee to participate with this charade but tightfisted Woody must have refused  #SackWoodward

When does Ole give his pre match press conference?
Am sure this will be a very hot topic, and jouro's will keep asking until they get a decent response.

No he won’t. He will say what he says all the time. “At United we will always strive to bring in better players but he is a player for another club and I can’t comment on other clubs players.”

I mean, he was a key player in a wildly successful Ajax side that demolished Juve and Madrid, and nearly made the CL final. He's a great acquisition, but it wasn't a surprise signing. He's been on Real's radar for the longest time. It's a great signing, nonetheless.

There are at least 5 GoFundMe pages (e.g. https://www.gofundme.com/f/jadon-sancho-to-united) trying to raise funds to buy Sancho. They are all unfunded because it is impossible to decide which is the most likely to succeed and is above board. I don't care which one is chosen but I am willing to contribute GBP 5 if redcafe officially commits to one of these and makes an announcement to that effect that can be publicised.

The effect of a substantial number of donations will have many good consequences:-
1) It will shame the horrible Glazers and stimulate them to get the deal done.
2) It will send the message to Sancho that the fans really want him
3) It will strengthen Ole
4) It will send a message to potential owners, hopefully less money-sucking ones, that the fans are done with the Glazers.

If I donate a tenner do I get it back if the glazers put their hands in their pockets for him. It would be a good idea to keep the raised funds in a kitty for our next transfer target

I really admire your earnestness and passion but the Glazers will just

Captain Tom raised £32m for the NHS during an unprecedented pandemic. Marcus Rashford raised £20m to provide free food for children. If our supporters raise £100m to buy Jadon Sancho, I’d stop supporting the club.

All these developments tonight may actually help this along. Let's wait and see.

This is a great idea! A fans "venture" fund that will support the buying of certain players. We could do deals with the player's agent independently that would supplement the ManUtd contribution to the transfer fee, the signing-on bonus and the wages. If we can get the governance right - I would suggest a non-profit structure with votes (those who contributed) to decide how the corpus is used - we can get this done before this transfer window. Over time, if the concept grows, the value of the owner's equity will fall and this could start to take our club back from these owners.

I said this yesterday. Holy crap its real

That probably works in our favour as the board won't want a season of Glazer out hatred and fans outside Ed's house.

This club sucks the joy out of everything.

Seems we're trending that way unless we see some u-turns during the final 3 weeks of the window...

Ole also hasn't turned the dressing room/club atmosphere into a toxic shitshow nor has he caused a civil war within the fanbase either so all the ire and anger will be aimed squarely in their direction if things go awry to start the season
