Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

This is a great idea! A fans "venture" fund that will support the buying of certain players. We could do deals with the player's agent independently that would supplement the ManUtd contribution to the transfer fee, the signing-on bonus and the wages. If we can get the governance right - I would suggest a non-profit structure with votes (those who contributed) to decide how the corpus is used - we can get this done before this transfer window. Over time, if the concept grows, the value of the owner's equity will fall and this could start to take our club back from these owners.
Micheal?
Micheal Knighton?

Reckon his CB is Upamecano but whether we can get him ahead of Bayern next summer is another thing

Exactly as it stands our plan is to defer this entire summer to next summer. What happens when others come in for these players? What happens if we don't make top 4 which could easily happen?

The second point you make is the bigger worry but then we also don't have a good record when other teams are involved too

“Cheers for leaving it so late in the window that we don’t have time to secure a replacement, oh by the way, here’s a discount”.

Something tells me this is gross incompetence on our negotiation team’s part.

Ole takes the fall and the cycle begins anew...

Poetic really

Yeah it's incompetence on a huge scale

Between the club and useless media, I feel like I am being taken for a mug.

If we just end up signing Sancho, I think the improvement he will bring to our offensive output alone will be more than enough for us to at the very least mount some form of title challenge. Coupled with the same defensive stats from last season and an improved De Gea/inclusion of Henderson, there's the possibility of us having a brilliant season.

That is why this transfer is so crucial. But it is in the hands of money men rather than people who truly care about the success of the club on the pitch. So frustrating.

Or gross negligence from Dortmund. It will be their fault for dragging this out so long. Despite all their public statements, BVB also desperately want to sell this window, to minimise their own risk on a huge financial asset. Anyway, Im sure Dortmund have a list of viable replacements and already done all the due diligence required to complete a signing within 48 hours.

I know everybody hates Woodward, but try seeing it from his point of view just for one moment. I believe he has true desire to sign Sancho, but also has the clubs financial interests to consider. I applaud him for trying to get this deal over the line, and also think that if it fails, it's because it was financially beyond our means.

Assuming all that is true, I think it is a scandalous approach to negotiations. Imagine intentionally taking negotiations for a player you have pinned your transfer hopes on to the last week of the window. It's like playing poker with the entire season.
I refuse to believe it.
Also, you leave the other team no time to get a replacement. It's bollocks.

you've obviously never been a negotiator for £100m assets!

Why would they be desperate to sell him? he's one of their top performers and his value won't drop dramatically regardless.

Agreed. Doesn't make any sense. Gives us a good excuse to not go for anyone else though. Tried for Sancho till the last minute etc.

Take Ian McGarry's reports with grain of salt. When I saw him mention Ikone, I instantly became skeptical; Ikone's agent mentioned a few months back that Dortmund haven't even gotten in touch with him for the player.
Apparently McGarry isn’t the one who says the Ikone part. According to this tweet, at least.

It’s basically what we did for Fernandes, wasn’t it? And Maguire? Waited as long as we could to lower the price, before ultimately buying? I think for Maguire we didn’t even lower the fee, whilst for Fernandes we got him for a little less, just a window later.

Its madness. Dortmund will want the same amount and structure of payments in the last week of the window as they did at the start of the window. Didnt work with bruno or maguire, we paid what the selling club wanted both times.

What I don’t understand, if the are trying to get a deal, why not make some official bids for them to reject to at least destabilise the situation, putting pressure on Dortmund in the media and on Sancho to start making moves. All this passive media negotiations is just making them look worse then...they already look.

They must seriously believe that they want to sell. Crazy.
