Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

Has there been any developments on the Bale front or is that just your opinion? A permanent deal would be out of the question where Bale is concerned due to his history with injuries and whatnot, but a loan deal would be ideal as he could alternate with Greenwood throughout the season.
United want a winger = clicks!

Can't believe we are going into another fecking season without pushing over that hump.

Sancho will be sold to the highest bidder if Dortmund decide to lower their demands next year, we have the financial strengths to outbid other clubs if the pandemic isn't resolved over the next 12 months.

To my original point, I don't see competitions for Sancho will be any different next year, in fact there will be more bargains to be found if this continues...
That is if we clinch a CL spot again which isn't guaranteed by any means.

When was the last transfer that actually went into a bidding war?

That hardly happens.

In most cases the war is for wages and agent fees.

If Dortmund lower their demands from 120m to 80m, do you really think clubs can afford him next year?

It's not a fecking item at a fecking auction

Oh ffs this thread had 996 or something pages just a few hours back. It's now 1010!! What happened in between?

Meltdown over some tweets that said we are looking for alternatives. Nothing really new after the last updates by Ducker as in the thread title. Everyone knows if we pay up, he’s ours

Perhaps bidding isn't the right word, what I meant is even if Dortmund drop their asking price by 1/4 I still don't see how clubs being able to afford him next summer

According to my sources Jadon Sancho has a neighbour who has a goldfish, the goldfish has been blowing bubbles in morse code, the fish has been spelling Manchester United for the last 3 days.

Of course Jadons neighbour might not have a goldfish, merely speculation

Muppet realisation that this ain't happening.
Sad isn't it? I still remember on the last day of prev season as soon as we finally secured 3rd place everyone was tweeting, posting about sancho, simply hoping CL place will now secure some good signings and that we don't have to go through that rollercoaster of season again...but here we were.

Neville adding Sancho to your attack on Sky when comparing frontlines with Liverpool and Chelsea (did say it was a big if though). Is this any closer or still miles off?

Why waste time sorting out disputes on wages/agent fees to then refusing to pay the asking price which has not budged since the start of the window?

Does the club even realise how ridiculous their briefs sound?

Still a game of poker i guess. Until the club briefs it is over, i assume negotiations are still ongoing. The Bale tweets are beginning to emerge now though

How do you know? I doubt they have spent this whole time saying 'please knock it down a bit sir' x 1000

Zero worries that RM and Liverpool are targeting Sancho next summer. RM wants Mbappe and Cavamaniga next year (and has targeted them for years) a so that's where their muppet head will be at.Liverpool can't even afford Thiago for a quarter of the price. And this season will again be a loss making one for a lot of clubs. Barca's finances are a complete disaster.
Realistically, the only clubs that could afford him next summer are City (and he is not going back there with Pep as the manager) or Chelsea. City and Pep would try to finance the Messi deal on a free.
Strongly agree with all this. And City finances will get tied up with Messi.
Sancho will cost even less next summer, which is why it's important for fans and the club to hold their nerves in this windows negotiation.

Goes back to my original point about clubs affordability if this pandemic continues into next year which is highly likely.
It's more like wishful thinking. The only way to attract a player like him without CL would be huge wages and it's still not sure he would accept. A lot of things can change in a few months

No such thing when bidding for a player. If Dortmund accept say 80m off Madrid next summer, then Utd, Liverpool, and whoever else wont come along and say "hang on, ill give you 90":lol::lol: They'll all just match it.

Only on contracts does it happen.

So basically it comes to what Ole wants, short term gain or a build which is what we were promised.
There is no way we are getting LB, CB, Thiago and Bale. A top CB is £60, Thiago is £25m, LB is £25m which is £100m already.
There is a potential of us missing out on Sancho next summer.. then what we looking for another player that suits that RW again.
If we miss out on LB, Bale, Thiago, CB this summer, we will not be missing out on much, there will be options available in that area next summer of similar quality.
Can anyone really say there is a like for like alternative for Sancho?
Im not confident the club can rack up enough profits from next 12 months of covid19 economy to afford a £100m bid for Sancho next summer.

True, but if the selling club becomes aware that there are multiple parties interested in a player, they will price him accordingly. They'd be stupid not to.

It's more wishful thinking if people think clubs can suddenly find 80-100m next year when they are already financially stretched due to the pandemic.

I just don't see how competitions for his signature will be any different next year.

Do you realise that there hasn't been a single official communication on the Sancho topic coming from the club and all these "briefs" you refer to are media clickbait that you, as well as many other fans, assume are coming from the club?

Also, do you not understand how much money £1m is? How many people working at United make £50k/year do you think? Imagine the non-sporting staff. £1m is 20 of those being paid for a full year. So, bringing that price by just a single million secures the jobs of 20 relatively high paid employees. And if they reduce it with £5m? That's 100 people.

Finally, consider Sancho's wages. If we did sign him in July and paid him £200k/week (reportedly he will be on more than that) then by now we would have paid him at least 10x£200k = £2m. Without having even played a single official game.

I, for one, do not blame the club taking their time to reduce the fee and delay spending such insane amounts of money until it is absolutely necessary.

It’s really time to abandon ship on this transfer. I’m sure we’ve placed all our eggs in one basket though and have no viable alternative.

Feels like the briefs are yet again more posturing from Man United and that we don't really view any of the alternatives as realistic options.

This will drag on for a bit most certainly.

Competition might not change but nothing guarantees the player will still wanna join us then. It's a gamble

This meltdown will turn into euphoria in a few days. This transfer is happening.
