Jadon Sancho| Staying at Dortmund for now

If the club isn't ready to pay as much as Dortmund wants, could Sancho see it as United not that interested in him ? You know, footballers and their ego... Nothing says he'll wanna play for Man United in a few months.

or maybe, the Club could be saving the money for Mbappe instead? Mbappe would become the biggest star in sport by signing with Man Utd(over any other club). The Man Utd following is just bigger than any other club

We dont have 100 mil for Sancho but we will have 200-300 mil (whole package) for Mbappe? yeah right, it was very convenient that the news came out with Mbappe has links with people at Man Utd right when we are about to lose our prime target this year. We will take Bale on loan for a year. Then whole year we will listen to the talk how Mbappe is coming to Utd and then next year Sancho will go to Barca, Mbappe to Real Madrid and we will get the news that 2022 we will go for Haaland or smth

Can't believe Dortmund have dragged this out to the point where we've reached 1k pages. Using our name for free publicity because they're well aware that literally no one is interested in their tinpot club. Have the forgotten who we are? We are Manchester United for fecks sake. You can't play games with us. Enough is enough. It's time to teach them and their arrogant fanbase a lesson they'll never forget.

eem, what? Dortmund? Dortmund said on 10th of August that the deal is off, never gonna happen. Wanked some post up to instagram and twitter with Sancho and a water bottle and nobody in Germany has since talked about the transfer.
It's like someone wrote here (cant find the post anymore) that Sancho was not included in promoting new jerseys and stuff. He was, on the first page was Reus, Witsel and Can, next page Sancho and Guerreiro and last page Haaland and Piszczek.
Guys promoting the transfer are all english, who want our clicks. Romano has said it at the start of August. BVB have been very clear, pay 120 mil euros or the deal won't happen. But someone at our club is still briefing little midgets that we are still in for him, deal is not off etc while it is probably off. maybe off, i don't know. Maybe if something would happen to some random Eddys' house things would start moving, like with Bruno.
Are we the only club in the world that has to literally set CEO-s house on fire to finally get a transfer done?
Our club leadership is so freaking inept.

Today 19:45 english time is Duisburg vs BVB, Pokal game, so we'll see if Sancho plays. If he does, then transfer is off

Benrahma to Palace.
Zaha to Dortmund.
Sancho to United.
Phil Jones to Brentford

Oh look. Top BBC sports Journalist in having contacts at a big club shocker:

Sounds more like he got a comment from the club? I know muppets think the world revolves around them, but why would Dortmund have to "brief" British journalists? If they want to tell United something they can do so directly. If they want to get something across to their fans or the public they'll use their domestic media, because it actually reaches their core market directly.

When the supposed breakthrough happened they didn't "brief" British journos, someone at the club reportedly made a comment to FunkeSport, even though the whole thing was playing out almost exclusively in British circles.

Players have played in past also before moving. No big deal in that.

I don't understand this at all. What does it even mean?
If they want to keep him, they keep him. There's nothing to be confident about, is it? If the offer is good enough, they obviously want to sell him. So... They're confident they won't get €120m? If they get an offer of €120m, they're still able to decline it, and again remain "confident"? The same goes for £200m, doesn't it?

That fact that this is even a story means they're at least still entertaining the idea of selling him, but are unsure whether or not other teams (us) can afford their asking price.

I'm confident we're keeping hold of Andreas Pereira. Am I doing it right?

Now is the time for true muppets to stand up and remain strong! If you give up now and run away from muppetland, you will be called a coward who ran away from battleground and you will never be able to love Sancho truly when he bangs them left, right and center (goals, not Greenwood's hookers). If you stay and this fails, you will die as a proud muppet, only to be reborn on 1st January 2021. Your choice.
Exactly. This is another test. Many have failed already. RIP muppets

My understanding is they are communicating the deal won't happen. The reason is obvious, we won't cough up €120m.

Guys, this is dead... accept it. One of the worst approaches to a transfer in recent times. We have known the price since the beginning of June.
The idea Dortmund should reduce their price cause of Covid is laughable if not damn right insulting. Imagine Madrid trying to take Martial and telling us to knock down the price cause of Covid?
If you can't afford it, feck off. We aren't a serious club.

He is a journalist that reports the current news and does not give much analysis. If you want deeper analysis you need to follow journalists from The Athletic.
He neither reports breaking news nor does analysis. What's the point ?

Anyway, it's looking more and more likely that we've completely cocked up this transfer window. Woodward needs to figure out other ways to make this a success window otherwise we're in for another rubbish season.

Doesn't say that at all does it?
‘ Dortmund want over £100m for Sancho, who they signed from Manchester City for £10m in 2017. United do not feel a deal is possible at that valuation.

The Premier League club are losing about £5m for every match played match at Old Trafford played behind closed doors amid the coronavirus pandemic.

United are due to release their financial results to 30 June 2020 later in September.’

I think it does.

Dortmund not budging shocker, I could have told Ed a month ago to not waste his time... it really is all a farce.

If we ain't going to pay, we aint getting him simple. We will end up moving on and with how bad Utd are in the window, it will be panic buys on the last 48hrs of the window closing.

Imagine needing to cut a 33 point gap to your biggest rivals and your plan being Covid 19 market benefit.

You're absolutely right. We knew his price and availability from the start. To miss out on an elite talent who wants to join like this is rubbish, given we've watched the whole window on it.

What doesn't make sense about this story is the BBC is a British media company.

It's highly unlikely Dortmund would email the BBC to get them to publish an article about being 'confident of keeping a player'.

United have told the BBC that Dortmund are confident, and the reason why is unknown.

Starting to look like a briefing, if so it'll be a full wide scale briefing by tonight.

Ouch

To be honest we got Bruno fee down but still this is making a deal less likely

It shouldn't surprise us. Dortmund aren't anywhere near as big as us but they are still a large club and cannot be compared to the likes of Leicester and Sporting.

Its not exactly unknown. It means we can't afford him this season, we banked on structuring the deal that would favor us and it didnt work out.

Because as I’ve told you before Dortmund’s entire strategy with the deadline was to put enough pressure on United that we’d cave. The club is under immense pressure to deliver and failing to sign target number one isn’t a good look. Using the English media is a way to crank up that pressure. Why would a journalist be writing a story about what Dortmund think based on what a United source had told him? That bit has clearly come from the Dortmund side.

Dortmund think United will eventually cough up the fee. United say yeah we’ve done that before but not this time. United think Dortmund are bluffing, want to sell and will sell for less. Dortmund are adamant all the other times they’ve said they’d never sell and have then sold are not like this time. It’s the most blatant game of poker you’d get.

Unless people actually think we’re about to go sign Bale for Christ sake.

Sure, I just think the wording is.. weird? They're confident we're not willing to pay €120m. But if we do, and Dortmund want to keep him, they can still just say no to €120m as well? There's nothing to be confident about, it's up to Dortmund in the end anyway. They could just say "There is no way we're letting Sancho go. We won't accept any bids whatsoever. Move on.". But saying they're "confident" about keeping him makes me optimistic.

It might just be me being naive, or my inner muppet taking over, but I just think it's a very weird briefing.

Cooper saying United aren't confident we will get it over the line and that they never had intention of paying what Dortmund wanted, hoping Dortmund would budge. Dortmund are refusing to reduce their valuation.

If we aren’t paying the ‘100 million pound cheque’ then we are not getting him this summer. I’m dumbfounded how the club think Dortmund will just lower their asking price because it doesn’t suit us and adhere to what we think the market should be. I don’t think there’s a negotiation here beyond how we pay the full fee.

This is a lot of mental gymnastics for a team that has made it extremely clear by this point that they have no interest in reducing their valuation

As if the club would ever announce that there would be

There wouldn't be an outcry if there was either especially if it lands a 20 y/o world beater in the making at a position we've been crying out for for near a decade now. The outcry would come from working on this for well over a year and not getting it done and putting the manager in a bad spot rather than paying up for quality.

Also it'd be quite different to capitulation for Maguire where his market value was incredibly overinflated, Sancho's asking price is near market value for a player of his profile.

They wouldn't get 120m next year. This is their chance and think they blew it off.

We aren't returning to normalcy atleast before March 2021 (that's again a best case). With all the revenue loss, no one would be willing to pump up 120m next year.

Do we actually see Sancho throwing up a strop or putting in some sort of transfer request now that the deal is looking 'unlikely'?

Any day now you will see the headline break. “Utd and Dortmund agree fee for Jadon Sancho”. We will cave in. Always do.

I don't think it's that straight forward, though. It's common with almost any transaction (at least of £100m) to negotiate about the price, the structure etc. If it was as simple as "this is our price, take it or leave it" every time, we wouldn't ever need to negotiate anything. This goes for transfers, sponsors... Anything, really.

This is not the news we thought breaking the 1000 post barrier would bring.

Pretty sure you have to read in between the lines, Dortmund know Utd will not pay the full amount especially with covid. Hence why they confident he is staying. There's still a slight chance utd will come up with a bid but it's highly unlikely.

Unfortunately, a lot of people think it's happened with Maguire and Bruno, but I can't see how you can compare every transfer to our previous transfers. Circumstances are different all the time, and at this time it sounds like united don't feel that 120m valuation is right.
