How can they be increasingly confident he’s going to stay when their position since August 10th has been there is no chance he’s leaving?

That’s a brief from Dortmund...not United. They’re saying they don’t think we’ll match the fee so he’s staying. Our position is their fee isn’t realistic and needs to come down. Seems like a negotiation and a game of poker. As it’s always been.
Do German posters on here not understand sarcasm?

Doesn't say that at all does it?Simon Stone - basically saying the club don’t think they can afford him in this climate. It’s the start of the ‘he’s too expensive’ brief.

How is it a brief from Dortmun when Sky Sports were saying the exact same about days ago?? They said we were looking at alternatives and that we didn't believe that a €120M fee is acceptable in this current climate. That’s a brief from Dortmund...not United. Dortmund's deadline for any deal to be agreed - 10 August - has passed and the German side do not want to sell Sancho.
Dortmund want over £100m for Sancho, who they signed from Manchester City for £10m in 2017. United do not feel a deal is possible at that valuation.
= If we don't end up signing Sancho, then lets burn the place down, but that's only true after October 4th.

This is over. Deal with it. He's not worth the money anyway. We can now invest in critical areas. Cmon Rice, Longstaff and hopefully Deeny
You're linking an old article, not what came out today. It kinda does, I'd say

Oh look. Top BBC sports Journalist in having contacts at a big club shocker:Simon Stone and the BBC, Dortmund's classic mouthpiece.
Woodward is wasting everyones time with this, we've know about his valuation for over half an year now. There are no other suitors for him either, that's plenty time to figure out if we have the resources to sign the player or not. Clinging on to 3 weeks remaining in the transfer window is non-sense, this is all shaping up for a late bid of €100m or maybe even €120m near the end of window which will be promptly rejected by Dortmund because they won't have the time to sign a replacement. Woodward will do his classic face saving by briefing all the journos, hey looked we tried, we paid the fee they were asking for, they just wouldn't sell. It's not our fault, we'll try again next summer.
I feel bad when the club dupes our fanbase in lieu of false hope.

Yeah and Maguire playing pre season games for Leicester as well
This is dead if he plays tonight. Completely dead in the water. Anyone who thinks otherwise is dreaming.
Great insight as usual from Simon.
