I think it's somewhere in between, though. It's not "a few muppets going in meltdown", it's a fanbase of millions. If this deal falls through, and we don't splash similar cash to improve the rest of the squad, Woodie and the Glazers are probably very, very happy there's no fans at the stadium. Because unhappy fans vocally and visually protesting the suits and owners would be very bad for business, and should indeed influence their decision. If we can't afford it, we can't afford it. But good luck defending the interest rates, loan payments, dividends etc. at the same time.
