Jadon Sancho - Chelsea (loan) watch (Dog status: missing - responds to “Sanch” or promises of FUT packs)

I don't know if Maresca addressed it in the media but it wouldn't surprise me if he starts in their league cup match as he cannot play against United on Sunday. Him not featuring on Sunday in isolation doesn't mean anything.
Agree. That just good squad management as far as I’m concerned. The manager looking to future matches to determine who might be available for certain matches.

Obvs you don’t do that with elite players…but with the amount of wide options Chelsea have, it makes perfect sense.

What if a new manager thinks he can use him?
Then the new guys(Berrada, Ashworth and co.) should overrule him. Sancho failed under 3 different managers at United in 3 years. He has given us plenty of evidence to know that he's not going to be a success here. We don't need to take another chance.

He can't play two matches in a week after getting hooked off at half time against pool? Come on.
It was also tactical; Maresca wanted Palmer in the left half space more than the right because I think he prefers Palmer to be on the opposite side of the inverting fullback. Think it was smart to put Gusto more on his favoured right side; he was decent but also looked a bit uncomfortable inverting from the left vs Liverpool.

Don't they have an obligation to buy if they finish above 14th? So he's basically gone already?
Based on how the deal has been described, this seems to be accurate. The fee itself does scale to a limited extent depending on how high Chelsea finish but as long as we aren't in the bottom 6 the purchase clause triggers.

Who said he can't play two matches? Neto did better than him vs Liverpool and will almost certainly start against us. Maresca seems to switch out the two wide players at some point so giving Mudryk an opportunity makes sense. It could be that Sancho has been shite in training but there's really not much to read into him not playing again Newcastle. If he doesn't feature in the League Cup and in the league games following United then it's another story but it's really not a big deal him not playing yesterday.

Let’s be honest, Neto shits all over him. Mudryk, headless chicken that he is, at least offers some pace.

All Sancho offers is slowing the ball down and allowing defenders to get back

I personally think Amorim would have loved him - he's that winger/CAM type player that can play narrow and play balls in to running channels.

Not worth the wages but doesn't neglect the fact that Amad has yet to show such ball playing capabilities even if he is technically called an AM on video games

He's about as far away from what Amorim seems to expect in a player. He falls at the first hurdle.....work rate.

He’s a lazy bastard who doesn’t have the stomach to play for the club. Running into channels as an attacking midfielder really doesn’t matter at this point.

Predictably shite for Chelsea as soon as he’s needed to do something when it matters.

Be interesting how quickly the narrative around him will change now ETH is gone.

Character of the squad is as important as anything and Sancho is a bad egg. It’s great business to have gotten rid of him and it’s important that a new coach won’t have to deal with him.

That would be true if he was incredible too, which he is not. There shouldn’t be any real discussion about him other than to say it was great business by INEOS to all but secure his exit.

He's done at this club. It's not even about potential improvement in performances...He disrespected our manager and club and should never put on the shirt again.

I came here to echo what others have mentioned: I believe he would have been ideal in that inside forward role. Beyond Amad, we really lack technical wingers in the squad. Rashford and Garnacho thrive when they have space to operate, but Sancho brings a different skill set. He excels at receiving the ball in tight spaces and can skilfully manoeuvre out of difficult situations. Additionally, he provides that creative spark we desperately need in the attack.

Neto has returned to the team and performed well, which makes Sancho's place on the bench understandable. It’s reminiscent of when Sancho came on for Neto against Brentford and made a significant impact on the game. Football is inherently a squad game, and given Chelsea's depth, there will always be times when players have to sit out.

Chelsea have the options in wide positions to think more tactically and go with who suits each game. And you can't say he's wrong given the impact Neto had against Newcastle. Whether that's truly the case remains to be seen, but from what I've seen Sancho hasn't done much wrong so far.

He may well be excellent at Chelsea. Even if he gets the Ballon D'Or we were right to sell. He wasn't going to do it here.

To be honest I was only talking about Marescas comments. But, out of interest, why don't you think he can do it here? Is it just Manchester United he can't function at? He's played pretty well at Dortmund twice, had good games against the likes of Bayern and Barca in the CL, he's had some good games so far for Chelsea. Why don't you think he can do it here? Especially when we have a new coach who likes players of his ilk in the narrow areas in attack.

If you look at how he's used Marcus Edwards at Sporting, I could see Sancho playing that sort of role. And it'd probably suit him more than the wing position we've used him in so far.

It's a pointless conversation as I don't expect him to return now, but if things hadn't turned sour then I could have seen a place for him under Amorim. ETH relied on things that Sancho doesn't have, such as explosive pace. But Sancho excels in other areas vs the likes of Rashford, Garnacho etc. These are things that could have been utilised now.

He doesn't bring any skillset, he doesn't excel in anything. He was at United for 3 years and didn't put in a single good 90 min performance. He had a good half against liverpool two years ago, maybe a couple good halves when Rangnick first started, that's it, he never put in a single, solid 90 min performance, never man of the match, nothing of note ever other than a few, very few, isolated moments. He brought nothing, he added nothing, when he left we didn't miss anything. I have literally in my entire life of supporting United can't recall a more insignificant player than Sancho. His only significance is his fanbase starting the pile on of Ten Hag. And he had plenty of time and chances to prove it, so case closed, he's shite. To further cement that, he went back to Dortmund last year and was shite for them, now he's at Chelsea and he's shite for them.

I think Sancho may have been the right player at the wrong time. It also didn't help that we gave him the salary he was on.

I also think that given everything that happened, things are probably too toxic here, or at least too much has happened to enable him to play to his potential.

A little like de Bruyne or Salah, a change of club likely will provide the new start he may need. Sometimes a change of location can also help. I also think the sale enables us to remove a high earner, allowing us to reset our wage structure, even a little bit.

So I still think Sancho can come good, which would be good for England and the national team. I just think that it likely wouldnt happen here.

Chelsea have a lot of good options out wide, he’ll be in and out of the team which doesn’t suit him. He needs to be given leeway and played week in week out, I’m delighted he won’t be back and I don’t see him being at Chelsea for more than 2 seasons.
