Jadon Sancho - Chelsea (loan) watch | £5M opt-out fee

Invective aside, I really do wonder has happened to Jadon Sancho. There is nothing left to his game. I'm not sure he would even start for most USL clubs.

Call of Duty Warzone & Battle Pass. Apparently he is a videogame addict.

Saw a post on X which made me chuckle. Utd and Chelsea should play an extra game at the end of the season. Loser gets Sancho. Now that’s something I would pay to watch. SJR could make it PPV to boost the coffers.

They could call it the Freedom Cup.

If Chelsea send him back (so unlikely) he could be used as a swap deal for a German club or a lower level club.

Sad thing is if he’s really addicted to video (video game addiction is real, and honestly if you know someone struggling they have support groups and programs for addicts that are free- at least the support group is)- then i really hope he kicks it. He probably can’t wait to go home and play, thinks about it all day and when he goes home he stays up till 1 or 2

I was a video game addict. Its just as hard to stop as taking drugs and you play all day and night with no ability to care for your career

I can attest to this. I had very good grades all my life but got into video games during my college days and really ruined them forever. I am doing okay now but had to really struggle for the first few years of my career due to this.

Everton really aren't above his level, some of you are being ridiculous. He's excelled for Dortmund in his first spell and probably would be back there right now if they could afford/justify his wages.

He has issues yes but key amongst them is that he may like Anthony simply be in the wrong league due to lack of explosiveness and I would put money on La ligue suiting him better (which would make for a good load option next season if he's coming back).

Interesting you say that but they didn't even bother trying to get him back after his loan spell considering he would have cost what 20/25m. Its not like Dortmund have not paid high wages to players they think are worth it.

It is clearly obvious that Dortmund do not rate Sancho.

His first spell was amazing, he is not that player anymore, almost a shadow of it.

I would like to give you an example of a player who was similar, Delle Ali, who at one point was above Everton's level, he hit the same downward trajectory and Everton ended up being above his level.

There is only so long you live on name, Sancho has been living off his name, with nothing to show for it in the last 4 years.

He wasn't really that good on his loan spell at Dortmund and that is why they didn't sign him

This guy stinks and I can't believe he is only 24. He should have never gone to United after Dortmund, City or Arsenal would have suited him better.

For the right fee and wages they would have done (hence why he they paid 4m for the loan and he was mostly a starter for them during his time there). My point is if he is capable of playing for them consistently at some level then he can't be seen as below Everton level.

I disagree. The reason they paid a loan fee was mainly because they thought they will be getting at least half the player they sold for 72m.

During the loan spell they realised how bad he had become and decided that regardless of the fee / wage they wont sign him.

Why do I think that? They had him on loan and he desperately wanted to leave, so could have worked out a wage. They didn't even both entering fee discussions with Manutd... he went for 20-25m, a fee that is not alien to Dortmund. They regularly pay 25-40m on players.

I, for one, think he is an interesting talent with a very particular set of skills that a genius like Maresca can definitely unlock given time.

An absolute bargain at a paltry £25 million

And as I've argued wages are the problem not the transfer fee but we'll have to agree to disagree.

They didn't even try once they saw how he performed on loan (e.g not even half the player they thought he was)
Given he also allegedly agreed to take a big wage cut to sign permanently for Chelsea, I don't think wages would have been an issue given Sancho it seems was desperate to leave United

What happens if Sancho and Chelsea cannot agree personal terms on any permanent move? Would that nullify our agreement with them?

No one in their right mind would offer a fraction of what he is on now with us.

Chelsea will pay the penalty and send him back to us.

The "what he is on now" shouldn't really feature a lot in his thinking because next season is the last year of his contract with Man Utd and apart from Saudi, no one will pay him that.

Even Saudi won’t want to touch him with a ten foot pole. Anyway, I think Chelsea will sign him, give him another season to buckle up, then probably send him on a bunch of loans. What a waste of space.

People are mentioning his career has flopped possibly due to video game addiction, which could be true but there’s another possibility.

Sancho never had the skillet for a big club. City let him go to Dortmund where he thrived playing alongside Haaland. You can see Haaland bulldozing through teams which he doesn’t do now at City. Was it his teammates or Sancho going through good form?

We bit the bullet and bought him when no other team wanted to pay that much. His short quick plays was good but he couldn’t accelerate or have the defensive work rate required. He isn’t the Vinny JR type of player where you can justify the need not to trackback.

He was loaned again to Dortmund where apparently because he dribbled Nuno Mendes many times, he was back and it was United the problem. However he never really created anything and Dortmund backed out.

His Chelsea career doesn’t look great, he’s showing squad rotation player at best. In short, Sancho doesn’t have the skill set for the PL and has been overhyped.

This is not true. Last year, he had only 2 assists. This year, he already has 6 assists for Chelsea. At this rate of growth, in 2 years, he'll be banging in 54 assists/season. I have full confidence in Chelsea & Maresca to bring the best out of him.

I don't think his issue is the PL being too fast/physical/whatever. Sure, some of it likely does have an impact, but he's hardly been different in europe for United, had he? Players who specifically struggle with the PL tend to still do well in europe - see Hojlund, or Memphis back in the day

What is the skillset needed for a big club?

Please get your facts straight. Sancho played four seasons in Dortmund, far longer than Haaland. He earned his spot years before Haaland arrived and looked good playing together with a bunch of different people.

If you attribute his success in Dortmund to Haaland I just know that you have no idea what you are talking about.

I think it’ll be closer to 20m than 24. If the penalty is the rumoured 10m to get no player, vs 20 to get said player, surely they just take the player. He isn’t absolutely dogshit or anything, he’s still a serviceable player.
Here is where i disagree. I would Pay 10 mil in order to avoid paying 24 mil and Sancho's wages

I love every few posts is one of these  Praying Chelsea senior management read the caf.

Probably neglects showers for more game time.

Funny that noise form start of season about how Chelsea have got bargain, suddenly disappears without the counter noise of how stupid to sign him.

I imagine the terms where agreed beforehand. Anything else doesn't make sense.

You'd think so but the reports say the opposite. Maybe Chelsea has to pay a fine if Sancho doesn't join them regardless of whether they don't want him or can't agree terms with him. I read the latter actually could be the reason for the former.

He is the type of player to accept a pay off of his contract and then retire. He doesn’t come across as highly motivated or very likeable.

Maybe he just wants his Freedom.

Definitely has talent, he doesn't seem the type of player to put in any effort whatsoever and just there for the pay check getting by doing the absolute minimum so he can get a salary. The attitude I get from him is that he doesn't give a crap in interviews, just a spoilt lazy brat.

I wonder what the penalty fee for not signing him permanently will be. I reckon it should be at least 50% of the agreed signing fee.

Even if it was, I doubt we’d make up the other half through a sale

I was surprised Chelsea even took him in the first place but I can’t see any huge interest this summer. Maybe Turkish teams or Italian teams who just want to loan with no fees, the tight bastards

Tbf.. when Chelsea took him, alot of Chelsea fans thought they had one over us buying him for 20-25m because they felt we were the issue.

Huge interest? I dont think there is any interest for him... I dont even think Saudi want him.
