I never could envisage when we signed him that he would end up being this bad.

We need to scout people as much as talent these days, without the mental makeup the talent is wasted.

Looked mediocre in a generally mediocre Dortmund team. This must be one of the weakest Dortmund squads in quite a while, from what I've seen they don't have any standout players right now.

His touch and control is really poor lately.

Only caught the first half, but I agree that his first touch was so heavy. To the point where it actually worked in his favour one time in the first half, as the PSV player was shocked and consequently lost

Big part is the poor mentality of the player, yes. But it is also becoming more and more clear we don't have the setup to support and keep in check these young players who suddenly become millionaires overnight.

Agree with this. Give them £200-300k a week (absolutely gross) and not holding them accountable.

Remember when he managed to fall over and win a penalty a month ago and people went in here to say how great he is and how could ETH the fraud let him go? :D

It's not his fault lads.

It's the team setup that's not right.

Also he's not a right winger anyway, he's better on the left.

Also his manager doesn't give him a hug every morning

Also training starts at like, 11am, which is way too early.

Also he's sad :(

Also he's not a left winger anyway, he's better on the right.

Also they don't sell Opal Fruits in the canteen.

We wanted him to do alright. Good enough to generate a transfer fee, not good enough to the point where we’d be upset at the fact we’ve had to ultimately let him go.

He’s not even going to manage that.

These days? We were prioritising character way back in the 90s and 00s.

Looking back, us getting Di Maria and Falcao was a sign of United losing their way.

Yeah not sure why I even added 'these days'

We lost our way and the types of signings you mentioned highlights that well.

Something's seriously wrong with him. He was never this bad at Dortmund, now he seems like he can't even take anyone on, always plays it safe and his defensive contribution is worse than Rashford's.

2.5 seasons since he was at his peak in Germany. Close to 3 years is a long time to just turn it around again...think what we see now is about his level, he'll have a few good games and grab a goal or assist but most weekends he will be bang average.

To be fair to Falcao, his issue wasn't mentality, but rather the fact that he was never the same player after the ACL injury he picked up before he joined us on loan. Agree with the overall spirit of your post though.

How much did playing in the sane team as Haaland help make him?
I really wish people would stop asking this question. Sancho had four impressive seasons in Dortmund and only the last one and a half were together with Haaland.

When’s his contract run out at United. We are stuck with him like we were with Martial. What a waster and what a waste of a career
I'm hoping that Ratcliffe and Co won't make the same mistakes of the past and trigger extensions for players like this who make minimal contributions to the squad.

How much did playing with Haaland for the last 1.5 seasons help Sancho?
Actually Sancho's goals and assists at best kept their level, but dropped a bit compared to before Haaland. But as that's at the same time as Sancho having some injury issues it's best to say that Haaland had no impact on Sancho that could be confidently measured

Tbh from what I saw of him he was genuinely excellent for Dortmund first time around. But then again the I think Dortmund were a better team back then and the league was really really forgiving to attackers allowing for plenty of space to do one’s thing. Reminds me of how Memphis went from “next Ronaldo” in the Dutch league to outshone by Martial in the PL.

I suppose getting a decent fee in the summer for him is starting to look less likely

Yep. Sancho was putting up insane stats before Haaland got there. That criticism never made sense.

The arrogance from Sancho is only seen off the pitch now, which is the exact opposite of what you want in this player case. The guy seriously needs a reality check.
