People are always quick to jump on anyone from a foreign league who doesn't hit the ground running immediately, but a lot of players need some sort of time to adapt, has Sancho's match time even been 90 minutes yet. He doesn't look particularly match sharp right now, looks reluctant to run at anybody and try and beat anybody. Also Utd haven't really been on top of any game when he's been on the pitch yet, against Leeds the game was dead and over by the time he come on the pitch, and the last 2 games we've been under the cosh at the end vs Southampton, and for the majority of the game today. Any knee jerk reaction writing him of already is foolish.

He is not as good as people.mad him out to be, heck genius not better than Rashford and Greenwood but it's difficult to adapt to the Epl and the fact we havnt controlled games makes it even worse.
People should manage their expectations this season, hopefully he gets better next season.
Greenwood though has that right spot nailed down for now.

Wasn't much better than James today. Obviously, James is more limited than Sancho, but the latter has to start producing soon.

He started very well, combined quickly and found space, kept the ball, ket the ball ticking. He was probably all fired up with adrenaline to begin with. Then we collectively lost the plot not dealing with Wolves’ aggressive press. As the game wore on and presumably his ignition went down to normal, he was often a millisecond too slow and had to opt for safe passes. This is quite reasonable reaction to getting less space and less protection for someone who plays with high precision in his passing game. He does not play a high risk passing game like Bruno. His ball control and passing technique is excuisite, was today as well. But he lost a bit heart from frustration I think. It’s normal.

We embedded two new players without an effective midfield and he needed time to click. It’ll come good

This was my concern with Sancho when signing him, he's not the type to run at defenders using his pace. He's more of pass and move winger.
I'm sure he will come good once he has settled, I'm backing him.

He seems like a kid that walked in in the middle of a movie and doesn't know what is going on. Seems lost out there.

Hasnt had a kick in two sub appearances and a start, but hopefully he will pick up soon. He is the real deal

I think the pace of the games might have taken him by surprise. You barely get a second on the ball before you’re pressed in some matches. I don’t watch enough German football to say for sure that it’s not similar though. I know Varane seemed surprised by the speed of the game.

Yes he did because there was literally no structure to the way we played, we need to control games a lot better if we intend to get the best out of him. He is not a high speed, high transition kind of winger and Ole really needs to understand this.

We simply need to control games a lot more rather than constantly playing on transitions and there are lot of players who would benefit more from that than just him in this current team.

He made lots of nice runs. Not his fault we can't play football. I suspect same goes for DVB. The lack of awareness, passing and movement from this team must be really shocking for those two, considering where they come from.

Dunno, he looks like a watcher while things passing him by, quality is there just he either adapts or we change a bit game to fit him more.

Playing against a back five without adequate support from the inside players such as Bruno, Greenwood, or Pogba/Fred because the spaces between them are so far and stretched.

When he came on against Southampton, he was more involved because AWB was overlapping and at least one player within distance and space to link up with.

He'll get up to speed and just glad a player of his ability is in the squad.

Havertz, another quality young player comping from the Bundesliga, took a whole season to get to grips with the Premier League - this might be similar.

He didn’t seem to have many players to link up with which lead to him going backwards a lot.

This is my trail of thought. Especially considering Havertz / Sancho in Germany were so highly regarded. The tempo of German football along with the time on the ball is different to the league.

I think Sancho will come good after a few months settling in. Personally think he's still not fully fit, doesn't seem sharp enough as yet.

He has the capabilities to beat his man he will need to do it more consistently at this level. Like Grealish he will have to adapt to playing in a different team, Grealish slows down play significantly something Pep will likely drill out of his play. Sancho looks for the pass and move but in a team that is not exceptionally coached he'll have to use his dribbling more to offset defences.

He's typically a slow starter.

That said, I think some people are expecting a different type of player than what Sancho is(not to excuse his poor performance today).

He's not an explosive attacker like Mane/Salah. He's not really a player you give the ball to and be like "go take a man on."

His dribbling is more of the intricate style in congested areas and he's a great link-up player.

Hopefully he'll perform better after the break.

Hard for him to impress when we have no midfield.

Post above about him being a link up player is spot on.

I have to say it will be interesting if Rashford finds his form again when he comes back because right now Greenwood is undroppable for me on the right flank. Sancho may find it hard to break into the team and could be reduced to being the most expensive squad player ever.

He needs time to settle in but he will get it right eventually. His talent is the real deal.

I fear United will ruin Sancho and stifle his evolution as player if he had went to City instead and be coached by Guardiola rather than Ole.

I don't know. I understand he is still settling in and tactical movement, effectiveness could have been lacking but he is supposed to be a creative dribbler. In a game where we were shite and losing ball all the time, what prevented him from growing some balls and trying to trick a defender, do something creative and unexpected. Worse case - it wouldn't work and he'd lose the ball (big deal, they all lost ball anyway), best case - there would be something that would be great to watch and maybe, with luck, could have lead to something. Why is he timid to go for things like that? He was very creative in Dortmund and he isn't inexperienced. I am baffled with his flat performance.

He just got bullied constantly. He never once tried to take his man on be it with skill, pace or using his renknowned "pass and move" abilities. It was a very Van der Beek performance from him. Martial, though I don't particularly rate him these days, came on and did everything Sancho should have done at the minimum. Even if he wasn't amazing.

Noticed he chickened out of a couple of challenges/tackles where the Wolves players simply wanted the ball more than him. Is he in the England squad? Hopefully he uses the two week break to get himself sharper and more up to speed

It will take him half a season at least to get up to premier league speed
James was much better than him Today and we were playing with 10 men for a long time
Martial came on and made a massive difference

Havertz has been doing well now.

And I hope you're not one of those people who underrates Lewandowski because of BL. I remember how often people called him overrated and flat-track bully, and they only shut up when he finally won the UCL in 2020.
Lewandoski has been great in CL too, so I don’t have doubt on him. Just that the quality in BL in general has been quite poor, I’d never trust the top performers there based on their BL performance alone.
