Average season for Dortmund, can't make the England playing squad. I've never wanted this signing, very over hyped and lacks pace. It's obvious we need a left footed right winger imo, if we sign Sancho then we would have so many players who's best position is LWF with Rashford, Martial, James, Sancho and some would even throw Pogba there. Yes I do think Sancho's best position is LW and not RW.

Just praying this is all a smoke screen for someone else.

Jealous Liverpool fan in disguise?

Southgate is just getting away with his weird selections because frankly this time England has produced so many good players, practically 2 good players for each position. Southgate can go crazy with his tactics and yet England can pull 1-0 win against average opponents. He will get exposed though when it comes to more technical sides.

I won't take Southgate's selections too seriously.

Isn’t that just wrong though? A £100m player should be starting for their national team. The fact he doesn’t makes you wonder if he’s really worth that much money.

Why don't we just hire Southgate as our director of football to assess the value of every potential target. Regardless, England's forward line is stacked. Depending on who you ask, Rashford, Grealish, Foden and Mount could all be worth over £100m too.

You do know the value of a player correlates to how good they are?

Not really the case. Age, team and league all come into it too. One of the main reasons that Sancho is valued so highly is that he's still only 21. If Sancho were the exact same player but 35 and playing in Eredivise, he wouldn't be worth 5 mil. Fact is, he's young and has proven he can put up massive numbers in a very good league.

We all know his contributions to Dortmund over the last 4 years, I don't understand how his value is still even up for debate

People need to be aware that Southgate watch the Players in Training. As hard as it sounds , he's probably not good enough for the England Squad. He could be the new Mhiki or Kagawa
Lets buy players based on how fecking Southgate rates them. :wenger:

How wrong can you be.

Garbage.

What’s Grealish worth?

Probably £100m as well. I think the point I was making has been completely lost. We are buying a player for £80-£100m where he’s not even getting selected in a squad of 26. Does that not seem mental to you? Yes it’s probably more to do with Southgate but I still think that’s crazy.

Anyone bashing Southgate in this thread doesn't understand he is doing us a whole world of good things: Giving our players Rashford, Shaw...their much needed rest as well as giving Dortmund no excuse to raise their Sancho price.

More likely that Southgate is the new Sven Goran Erikson

Of course it’s to do with Southgate.

It's not crazy at all.
We're paying 100mil for a player that proved at club level he is worth that amount. If he plays for his national team or not it means jack shit, especially considering what national team he'd play for and under what manager.

Nevertheless, maybe he was left out because he's coming here, maybe he's injured or maybe he kicked Southgate in the balls, who knows.

 hes been the best performing England winger for 2 years now. Average season are you crazy?

If we sign a player who has an "average" season with 16 goals and 20 assists in 38 matches in all competitions for a Bundesliga-club, it will be fun if he has a good season for us :)

How about we judge potential signings on their ability rather than whether or not they get selected for their international team? It's not even like terrible players are being selected ahead of him.
It's not that your point is being lost, it's that you're not really making much sense. Grealish being on the bench today is just further evidence of that.

It's not probably, it is down to Southgate. He played Trippier at LB for gods sake, the bloke just a bit odd.

Crazy indeed. But that is for Southgate to explain. Sancho has 30+ G/A in 2020-21, whereas Sterling has 20 odd.

It's like how Bruno is overrated. Give me overrated Bruno & Rashford and average Jadon Sancho scoring a combined 70 goals per season and assisting 50 goals between them last season.

Players he's up against in the attacking 3 include Kane, Rashford, Sterling, Grealish and Foden (least experienced but had a very good season). What are they worth?

It's unfortunate and also to do with Southgate... who picked Trippier at LB over the LB picked in the PL team of the season.

Hopefully he'll just retire from England like Scholesy did.
Hopefully Southgate willl get the sack.

That performance was all well and good vs an ageing limited Croatia but if they have to play 3rd place in the group of death id fancy then to lose comfortably.

I don't have a problem with Sancho not starting given what you just stated, but missing out on the bench to Saka is unexpected.

Grealish must be bang average to some of you lot since he didn't make it off the bench :wenger:

I wonder how much Mr Dowling reckons Kane is worth from that outing.

Unfortunately, Woody and co have failed to get this over the line in time. I expect this to be put on hold now until after the Euros

What's the rush? We don't even come back together as a team for another 5 weeks.

It's like kids on Christmas Eve. Patience my friend.

Could be something in this tbh. He's been poor when he's played for England.

Right, so he’s so poor that he’s been replaced on the bench by Saka. That’s a very odd decision. Surprised there hasn't been more on this.

Woody missed a trick not bargaining international appearances into add ons alongside the Ballon d’or.

The state of this post…FFS     .

Are people just going to keep saying he isn't a £100m player despite Dortmund asking for £81.5m.

We spent roughly the same on Maguire so I'd say weve got ourselves as good of a deal as possible for a player with 3 years left on his contract.
