Chelsea can definitely afford 120m but neither club want to sell, in the case of PSG at all, and the noises from Dortmund are it would have to take a huge offer for them to sell Haaland this year.

Of the two it's really only Haaland who has a possibility to move and the price being bandied around is upwards of £150m.
Hence Chelsea is the only club so far linked up strongly with Haaland this summer. I don't think they would pay 150m for him for he would only cost 65m a year later, but lets see

For Mbappe case, everyone knows he wants to go to Real, but Real is finding it hard to raise enough fund to put forward a bid for him, so it may not happen this summer. Will have to see.

Hmm very interesting that he hasn't even made the bench today...

Maybe bot trying to risk a medical

Yes, he would only cost 65m next year, but then the likelihood of going to Chelsea is so much smaller , and thats why they would want to pay double for him now.

The same argument can be made for why we arent waiting a year before going for Sancho.

Edit: very weird he is not on the bench today, could easily do the medical tomorrow, and dont think Southgate would not have him as an option only because he is doing transfer related business. Then again England do have so many options there

My concern when he joins us is less him and more whether AWB will stunt his impact. I really think we need someone like Trippier or Aaron's to support his attacks on overlaps against the smaller sides.
It's a more than valid concern. Buying Sancho and just dumping in this team and not optimising his combination play by giving him players to play off will make him half the player.

I really hope we have a plan in place, otherwise go for a different kind of player.

Southgate seems like the sort of prick to scapegoat him saying he's 'distracted', whether he is or not, just to play to the media / provoke a response in the squad.

So we play Sancho left Grealish central and Foden from the right. These are our best players and they are flexible enough and two footed enough to play across the front three places behind Kane.

If we end up only playing one of them, the opposition will mark him out of the game. The risk is greater trying to play it safe.
Has Foden ever played 2 games on the right?
If it were me Id have Grealish left, Mount in middle and Sancho right. Its not as if Foden etc are banished forever. If performances drop then bring in Foden and see who keeps their place. Theres really no need to be shoe horning players in when the talent is so deep.

Its not even the same. Difference this summer and last one for Sancho is only around 20% difference, whereas Haaland price would be more than double if they price him at 150m this summer.

Clearly got a knock given there are two keepers on the bench.
It’s perfectly normal having two keepers on the bench when there’s 12 substitutes. In fact, I think all teams have had two gk subs this far.

If Sancho played in the premier league the past 2 seasons he'd be an automatic starter. Or at least ahead of fecking bukayo Saka     fecking hell the bias to disgusting. Trippier at least became one of his favourites before going to Spain, but no Sancho in the squad is nuts.

It's mad isn't it mate. Then again Southgate seems to pick his favourite players in a different criteria than wether they are the best or wether they are in form.

He decides who he likes and sticks with it right or wrong.

Can see why he wanted Trent. Imagine how good theyd be with 3 RB on the pitch

I wouldn't argue too much with that. I think the fact we haven't played the various players and positions before we start the tournament is the real problem.

So we end up not picking Grealish who I personally think is the best player of all and we don't even have Sancho available from the bench. I hope it works but you couldn't make this shit up.

Foden played on the right in the u17 World Cup when he won best player. I think it's his best position.

Might work in the group. Won't work in the knockout phase against Portugal, France, Italy etc...

Yep. Id go with your suggestion after seeing the teamsheet. Might as well throw them all on and see what happens since thats what Gareth is doing anyway

I get the feeling he will perform majorly when he's given space and would just pass sideways against low blocks on the right wing

Player values and ratings are quite subjective. Can anyone really say how much a player should be worth? It depends on the market, existing economic conditions, past form, etc. etc which can change quite rapidly. The question is simple, how many available players are there in the market who are definitely cheaper AND better than Sancho?
2nd question, if we don't buy Sancho.. are there other clubs who would buy him for that price?

For me, there aren't too many players who are i) available, ii) better (or similar rated), and iii) cheaper than Sancho. And secondly, there are other clubs who would buy him for that price.

Thrown together at the last minute, a side that I don't think has ever been started before. Boiling hot day 2pm kick off. What could possibly go wrong?

Nope. Champions league and england games. Then very few Dortmund games in 2019 . I dont think he'd struggle against low blocks on the left wing but on the right his options may be limited
With his technique and dribbling it's exactly what you want against low blocks. He's a playmaker who is the best dribbler England have in their squad and who makes consistently good decisions, on the right or left. He should be an automatic starter based on his last 2 seasons even with that competition, he's been far better. But here we go.

Surely, he's signing the contract right now, there's no other rational explanation!

Average season for Dortmund, can't make the England playing squad. I've never wanted this signing, very over hyped and lacks pace. It's obvious we need a left footed right winger imo, if we sign Sancho then we would have so many players who's best position is LWF with Rashford, Martial, James, Sancho and some would even throw Pogba there. Yes I do think Sancho's best position is LW and not RW.

Just praying this is all a smoke screen for someone else.

I personally stopped reading here, did anyone manage to read the whole post?

 hes been the best performing England winger for 2 years now. Average season are you crazy?

Yes, but I was meaning if we’d wait yet another year. Would still not be the same price reduction ofcourse, but the principle is the same - you could easily imagine a few more clubs be in for him when the finances is going better for everyone.

Putting up the 3rd most assists in Europe in spite of missing time with injury and being the main catalyst for UCL qualification and their first trophy in 2 years is considered average now innit? :wenger:

That's gloomy. I don't follow bundesliga so I asked a question a couple of days ago if he really is the top bracket, which all the hype, chase and money would suggest.

I just hope it's 99,9% people on here who are right and not you.

That's one of his best assets. His decision making is really good for his age and that helps to adapt to new environments hopefully
