The only rivers of salt in here seem to be flowing from your eyes...

Would've thought Bayern would be glad to see their main rival selling arguably their best player but German footy fans are a strange lot though as we've found out over the last year or so

Must be some word sort of paternalism going on
Key things we've learnt about the Bundesliga supporting posters here during this saga - 1) They absolute love each other's clubs and 2) They seem to detest the caf 3) They post on the caf quite a lot inspite of 2)

Why's the title not "you love to see it". Has my head spinning.

Strange, do you feel some sort of rivalry between Bayern and United for some strange reason? Would have expected one to possibly exist with Dortmund, maybe.
He's angry Dortmund didn't bend over and sell them Sancho for a raw egg and a packet of Quavers.

£73m over 5 years of installments. Fixed fee with no add ons.

Pretty unbelievable deal really and doesn't have any major impact on our transfer budget. The club gets alot of stick but that's a cracking investment and a very United style signing.

Exciting stuff.
Actually over 4 years. Still 5 instalments.
1. Summer of 21/22 - 17m
2. Summer of 22/23 - 17m
3. Summer of 23/24 - 17m
4. Summer of 24/25 - 17m
5 Summer of 25/26- 17m

I think the German posters just want what's best for a top German player.

He's English? Dear lord.
That's nice. The best for him is to be home.

Incredible deal, finally we have landed him and I must say all in all it's a good if not brilliant piece of business by our board. We waited for a year, got the price down and got in in installments soo. It's so good to hear he wanted to come and it wont be all about the money. He's exactly what we need, cant believe we're actually buying a right midfielder. Someone needs to wake me up. I can see him exchanging passes with Cavani, Marcus and Pogba (if he'll stay) and I can see us playing some good stuff upfront. Cavani needs a player for him to serve him assists and I can see them making a great on pitch relationship.

If we land Camavinga and Varane too we'll have a pretty good team. Great first 11 and real depth on the bench.

Exciting times I must say.

Bruno and Sancho? Moved on by having a lineup that Pogba reallllllyyy doesn't fit into.
Cavani
Rashford Bruno Sancho

Pogba doesn't work in midfield behind them. Simple as. We need 2 more defensively solid players behind wingers like that.
Saying pogba doesn't fit into a midfield 2 and saying we've moved on from him are two different things.

Pogba will still start alot of games for us, especially if we get a proper DM that allows us to play with one, instead of 2.

Wow, that looks to be well negotiated. We've essentially freed up 50 million this year for transfers.

Assuming the alternative is 75 up front.

Eh I think both those statements apply. He doesn't fit into a 2, especially not behind a front 4 like what we have. We've effectively moved on from him as the last 2 seasons he hasn't had a major impact, and have signed Bruno and Sancho who do the roles that Pogba pretty much provided his best form in. In 18/19 Pogba played as a CAM under Ole and was great. Still wanted to leave so we signed Bruno. Then we signed VdB, presumably as a depth guy for when Pogba goes so we aren't empty on depth (regardless of it not working out). Pogba then got back in the team on the left and showed very good creative form to balance out our scorers on the opposite wing, even if it meant playing Rashford out of position. Now we signed a playmaker who can play on either side to get the best out of either Rashford or Greenwood, and nobody needs to be out of position. That to me is moving on as a club by the signings we've made, with Pogba either needing to find a new role within our team, or more than likely leaving.

I agree, if he stays we'll shoe horn him in as he's a world class player. But it's so so unbalanced having him in midfield behind that front 4, so we'll see what we do.

Gotta love me some good old sweeping generalisations. It is not about the individual content of the posts anymore, not even about the people themselves that write it. Now just the affiliation to a league or club is enough to be put in the same pot as if they are some kind of hivemind and be beaten over the head with cheap and lazy statements.

Maybe I should not be suprised as this is so widespread in internet forums, but I still can´t be helped to feel annoyed as the Caf used to be more welcoming to the views of opposing supporter. It kinda set it apart from other football boards as other perspectives and insights were viewed as enriching and informative to discussions. Banter used to be smarter and more fun than just throwing the same tired stereotypes around. I had some of my best football discussions on here (some of them even about German football with other Germans), but nowadays there is just less and less reason to actually participate if the reaction is just "Bundesliga defense force lul".

I wonder if Southgate is going to start him in the quarters now he plays for a big team?

It's like when the nerdy girl becomes hot and the jocks and popular girls start paying attention to her, I imagine Jadon will be allowed to sit at the cool kids table too now.

It absolutely is. Good posts get the respect they deserve but when many posters who support teams in the Bundesliga show those strange posting traits and that too usually aimed against United /its fans, then they will get called out accordingly. In that regard, instead of bemoaning the caf changing you should probably look at those posting traits which are really odd. Btw, you dont really know what the caf used to be, it's a very open and welcoming place nowadays, go back 15 years and the response would be much harsher.

Please keep participating. You can rant from time to time but generally ignore the trolls, none of them follow the Bundesliga.

English journalists are saying 74 million pounds without add ons. Germany ones are saying 85 million euros plus adds ons. Truth is probably somewhere in between.

Dortmund fans are absolutely devastated about the fee.
Its funny, we are all posting about and debating the fee. But who actually gives a feck? Whether it's 75 million or 85 million, I'm just delighted that we've signed a brilliant footballer.

I thought it was £72m in a span of 5 years, making it roughly 15m a year? Can't see why anyone would question how we can pay for this.

Not that it changes the point. The actual payment is generally under two years, 72m over 5 years is the amortization over the length of the contract.

Blimey that’s almost the same as GB pays you to post!
