If you apply that logic to every summer, it'll take us 4 to 5 years to build a team we could have built in 2 to 3 years. I agree that the price is good in isolation, but we can't look it that way, we have to consider the broader context of our transfer strategy. We're behind City by a fair way. Past mistakes in the transfer market mean that buying quality at the same rate as City will do no more than maintain the gap behind them. The simple fact is we not only need to improve the squad, we need to do so at a faster rate than our rivals. That's bound to mean a premium on price, but that's the choice we face.
