We've seen tweets like this throughout the Sancho saga, it never ends
Pretty sure it's just recycling to keep the clicks coming in. It is rather annoying though when you hear the same stuff week after week. I'll be so happy when this ends

Are they struggling for news as I'm fairly certain that the same stuff was posted about a week or so ago?

Yeah and a week before that and so on and on etc

Some of you won't survive the summer as the end of the window approaches and Sancho is still at Dortmund.
Final nail is when United sign some randomly selected 6th choice and abandon Sancho deal.

£75-80m all in sounds about right. I can see the board not budging past 80m inc add ons. What Dortmund want is pushing towards a £90m figure and is just too steep.

Not every signing has to be a guaranteed starter. You would have had a melt down after the treble season if you thought last summer was bad.

The signings improved us overall, which meant we finished higher than the previous year. The only one who didn't really contribute was Donny, but I think that's on him more than the manager.

Ah you can't read then. That explains it.

I clearly said you can afford to do that at the top. You can't afford to do it when your trying to catch up.

Also there where a lot of other mitigating factors to do with us finishing higher up the table.

Having Bruno for a whole year instead of half one.

The collapse of Liverpool etc etc.

We could have easily been closer to city if we had improved our 11.

That's impossible to prove, yet you're speaking in absolutes. As you were. This is going to go no where if you're going to make statements like that.

Says the discussion is mostly based around Achievable Add Ons not so much about the up front fee

To be fair if we signed Sancho last summer and nothing else was different in the universe last season, we do achieve more success I believe, that’s not too outlandish a thought. Obviously it can never be proved.

I'm sure I'll survive this... I've been through Sneijder, Hazard and Thiago sagas many many years ago. This is child's play to be fair.

We for sure would've got out of the CL group IMO. But other than that I'm not sure much would have changed. We would have been improved but you look at the points at which we failed... to compete with City, we need to sort out all of the RW, midfield duo and the CB's. One of those positions won't do, and 2 likely won't either. Needs all 3. We lost the EL final, but we failed to get into the EL but again, we need to sort out both attacking and midfield and defensive positions to be ultimately successful in the CL. League cup we lost to City who are just better even if we get Sancho because of our midfield, while the FA Cup we rotated due to prioritizing the Europa League, but you need luck for Cup competitions anyway. I'd say the only difference would've been getting to maybe the quarter finals of the CL (which we should've done anyway), and then possibly reaching 80 points. Not sure anything else would change tangibly. Our play would be greatly improved, but I thought we did about as much as we could and didn't leave anything on the table for an easy step up where if a
1 position was sorted we could've done something much bigger. We're at a point where we need to fix all our problem positions to make a true step up, and fix them with true quality like Sancho on the right. We need that same quality in midfield and defence.

Desperately want and need are two different things. I'd prefer to get a world class DM and CB instead.

I'm the same, that's why I'm not totally sure we be so desperate for him.......if that was the case I'd imagine they cough up the extra money. Then again it's us, negotiating brutal at times every window

Are we really paying £77million for a player who cant make the England starting 23. Foden, Rashford, Sterling, Dom calvert lewin all ahead of him in Southgates opinion. He's either injured or we are being fleeced again - or maybe both. Still think we are overpaying. The further north of 50million we go, is like extra inches in the holiest of holies......

Do you trust Southgate's judgment that much?

Southgates managerial career:
  • Took over Boro who finished 14th but made UEFA cup final, fa cup semi final, league cup quarter final the previous season
  • Middlesbrough - 12th
  • Middlesbrough - 13th
  • Middlesbrough - 19th
  • Part way through the season in the championship - 4th - sacked
  • England U21 manager - last place in group stage Euro 2015 (Portugal, Sweden, Italy tbf)
  • England manager - World Cup 2018 - beat Tunisia, Panama, Colombia on pens, Sweden. Lost to Belgium and Croatia.
Are you going to base any opinion on Jadon Sancho into what Gareth fecking Southgate thinks? The guy is a terrible manager. He's there because there's a decent harmony with the squad, but he's not a good manager who's opinions should be taken as gospel. Ffs he started Trippier at LB over Shaw or Chilwell.

It's really not difficult. We contacted his reps to see if he'd be open to a move, when that was done we likely agreed some sort of wage in principal. We will contact dozens of reps every summer and do the same thing. Until a bid is received by the selling club the talks are nothing more than sounding out a potential signing.

I find it absolutely hilarious you will accept certain reports, but because it's not fitting into your narrative of the board being incompetent boobs you ignore it

From a week a go.

No such article exists from last summer because we never lodged a bid.

I just posted an article on sky sports showing a bid was rejected, Its not my problem you fail to acknowledge that?

Again, show me articles of what you are suggesting that we agree personal terms with dozens of players every summer.

Great post. Spot on mate!

I would include Martial in the deal if he was open to go there.

I doubt this very much, I believe they have a pretty tight wage structure and Martial would want way more than they would be prepared to offer. I am not averse to selling Martial this summer depending on incoming deals but it would take a big club to be able to meet our valuation and at least match his current salary. Maybe PSG could be tempted as Mbappe insurance if they are not able to agree a deal with Everton for Kean.

Not all sources are created equal. The fact you think an article with "according to Sky sources" is adequate I don't know what else to say. Next you'll be posting Goal.com articles.

Re you last paragraph, even your less than reputable source says contact was made with reps first. Maybe read your sources before you embarrass yourself further.

A semi-final in a World Cup is no mean feat.

Starting Trippier at LB may look strange, but it worked.

Southgate is the best England manager we've had since Sven! Some manager just aren't cut out for club football, much like Scolari who was terrible as a club manager but incredible as a international coach.

You think that he's there because the players like him yes? Much like the same excuse the CAF for Ole. The players just don't go out there and play however they like. Does Gareth rely on individual brilliance. No. It's not like he doesn't tell them how to play. Put it this way if he'd won the World Cup he'd be lauded as the greatest England manager ever. Yet because we lost he's somehow tactically inept and should not be listened to because he couldn't make it at Middlesborough. Makes sense.

Two Semi-Finals (WC/Nations League) isn't achieved by just some fluke. He's a great manager.

So what makes your source bigger than sky sports?

next you will say daily mail is more reputable than Sky sports.

Also, I am not disputing reps are contacted first, show me an article showing Manutd agreeing dozens of personal terms every summer and then not bidding for the player, which is what you are claiming happens all the time.

With the talent at England’s disposal. The top wages the players are paid at club level. The consistent PL CL & EL exposure, plus a few players going abroad and thriving. England should nearly always be getting to semi finals at least. I’d argue that they should be amongst the strongest favourites and only getting to a semi final with this crop is encouraging but also slightly disappointing. He’s not a great manager really.

Adding quality players to your starting 11 doesn't give you an increased chance at earning more points?

Interesting hypothesis.
