Desperately want and need are two different things. I'd prefer to get a world class DM and CB instead.
You'd get closer to 50 for Pogba and Martial.
We absolutely do need a forward with the potential to provide the X-factor in the build up phase and also to enhance the quality of the squad. But I don't agree that we need a RW player as a priority.
How is there so much negativity when there are literally no reliable sources saying that this deal is unlikely?

I think in the long run Sancho would compete with Rashford for LW spot and depending on how Greenwood develops and whether he is seen as a Striker or not he would compete with Diallo .
Personally think England are mad not to bring him.
For the most part they won't be subbing off Kane and there isn't really a better player to put on the right to grab you a goal.
Most of their other wingers for the right are creators.

This is what I'm thinking will happen too. Sancho is naturally right footed and looks to cut in-field so it would be sensible to deploy him in a role that best suits him long term.
I disagree. If he doesn't rate Sancho then England are very light down the right side. Its basically just Sterling who will score goals behind Kane and Mason could have been an option. Especially when theres 5 subs allowed.

Last summer was all Dortmund. They whipped up a circus around the player and tried to start a bidding war. It didn't work so now they're having to accept a significantly lower fee than they were demanding last year.

Yeah I'm just holding on to it until you're off the register. I noticed it has a big hole in the center about two thirds of the way down so I've stitched that up and for some reason there were a load of school fair leaflets in the pockets so I got rid of those.
Show me any reports of a concrete bid. This isn't FM. Clubs will always contact representatives to sound out a player before making a move.
Seeing as it never progressed beyond that stage, that suggests he wasn't our priority.
I also dispute we had a bad summer. Despite the majority of muppets on here being adamant DvdB was signed without the managers consent, there is absolutely no evidence to suggest that. Telles is a good signing and seems to have had the desired impact on Shaw. Cavani ended season as first choice, we were always going to sign a stop gap striker as we'll be involved in the Halaand circus next year. Amad looks like an excellent piece of business, although he was clearly signed for the future. We just moved the transfer forward when Parma bid for him.
We didn't add a single player to our first 11. Cavani maybe but he barley player for half of the season and he was free Meanwhile City Chelsea and Liverpool did.
Coming off the back of last season that is madness and was no way our or Oles goal for last summer.
You can afford to sign just backups or bench players when your at the top. Not when you are trying to go there.
So if last summer we didnt go after Sancho, who is to say we are looking at Sancho this summer? So who are these reliable journalist that are saying this year we are looking at signing him and didn't mention Sancho to United once last summer?
Are we really paying £77million for a player who cant make the England starting 23. Foden, Rashford, Sterling, Dom calvert lewin all ahead of him in Southgates opinion. He's either injured or we are being fleeced again - or maybe both. Still think we are overpaying. The further north of 50million we go, is like extra inches in the holiest of holies......
There are concrete reports of bids already this summer. Not once was that reported last year. We just had the usual suspects tweeting out random figures saying Dortmund wouldn't budge.
Not every signing has to be a guaranteed starter. You would have had a melt down after the treble season if you thought last summer was bad.
The signings improved us overall, which meant we finished higher than the previous year. The only one who didn't really contribute was Donny, but I think that's on him more than the manager.
I wouldn't worry too much, I doubt he's interested in going to Cardiff City at this time.

did you perchance spend any time trying to get rid of the stains? the hole can be remade and i’ve got an electronic copy of the leaflets but the stains have sentimental value.
Sterling and DCL don't really play in the same position as Sancho so that's not really a fair comparison. Also on merit and form, we all knew Grealish should've started over Sterling against Croatia so I wouldn't let Southgate's choices cloud your judgement.

Just have to point out - Ive been supporting UTD since the early 80's after many many trips to OT and getting home 4 in the morning, I decided to get me and my son a cardiff city season ticket. Fergie had gone, Glazers were in, we'd just paid £60mil to sign Di Maria. I was disenfrachised. I'll always be a Red but we aint the same Man Utd as I grew up watching - we are something different now.
It's really not difficult. We contacted his reps to see if he'd be open to a move, when that was done we likely agreed some sort of wage in principal. We will contact dozens of reps every summer and do the same thing. Until a bid is received by the selling club the talks are nothing more than sounding out a potential signing.
