Wouldn't have made the squad regardless.Greenwood withdrew because of an injury

Are we desperate tho? Not even sure it's the essential position anymore compared to other areas, and we bought 2 younger players for that spot last season.
I don't know. Pogba in his last season and no one actively after him reckon 30/35 mill. Lingard 10/20 mill and theb Martial. Could get 30-50 mill depending if a PSG or similar would get the top end. Either way I reckon 100 mill tops. Think the 3 players coming in which were mentioned would be a minimum 80 for Grealish and Sancho and 60 for Phillips
How is there so much negativity when there are literally no reliable sources saying that this deal is unlikely?
feck sake. Just relax and be patient.. Chances are it won't be done until after the euros
I think in the long run Sancho would compete with Rashford for LW spot and depending on how Greenwood develops and whether he is seen as a Striker or not he would compete with Diallo .We absolutely do need a forward with the potential to provide the X-factor in the build up phase and also to enhance the quality of the squad. But I don't agree that we need a RW player as a priority.
Sounds like he wasn't going to make the team anyway.
In your opinionWouldn't have made the squad regardless.
This is what I'm thinking will happen too. Sancho is naturally right footed and looks to cut in-field so it would be sensible to deploy him in a role that best suits him long term.I think in the long run Sancho would compete with Rashford for LW spot and depending on how Greenwood develops and whether he is seen as a Striker or not he would compete with Diallo .
I disagree. If he doesn't rate Sancho then England are very light down the right side. Its basically just Sterling who will score goals behind Kane and Mason could have been an option. Especially when theres 5 subs allowed.Wouldn't have made the squad regardless.
I think so too, but he'll be fresh to lead us to the world cup next yearPersonally think England are mad not to bring him.
For the most part they won't be subbing off Kane and there isn't really a better player to put on the right to grab you a goal.
Most of their other wingers for the right are creators.

At this stage last year the general thought was we would get him eventually.
It was only later in the window it became clear
Only in the UK media though. The german media always stuck to 'If United don't pay, he won't go' and that a deal was never really close. It was pretty much just arrogance on our part that we thought they'd buckle
he’s not actually that much taller than me, either the perspective gives that impression or it’s a shitty camera.
and it’s actually my trench coat, he’s just borrowing it as i’m not allowed to wear it any more after a bullshit court order.
Disagree.
We wasted all of last summer, squabling with Dortmund over the price, meaning we had to scramble like idiots on deadline day to get some signings.
We have other transfers to tend to as well. No need to waste even more time on this if we are talking about 5 million
Except we didn't.
It's been widely reported we never contacted BD last season.
Last summer was all Dortmund. They whipped up a circus around the player and tried to start a bidding war. It didn't work so now they're having to accept a significantly lower fee than they were demanding last year.
Despite our fanbase regularly falling for disingenuous tweets from a variety of journalists, we act fairly well in the market.
The board are damned if they do and damned if they don't with this transfer. Pay what Dortmund are asking without negotiations, they're suddenly too soft and get bullied. Do what we're apparently doing now and try and haggle the price down, we're suddenly incompetent idiots that should just pay up.

Well we had a shite summer last year. What would be your explanation for it? Why didn't we get out targets? Why didn't we address problem areas?
Why did we agree Personal terms with Sancho in August if we weren't chasing him? This was reported by our own Journalists. Simon Stone from th BBC etc.
A flaw in your argument that we weren't chasing him all summer.
Show me any reports of a concrete bid. This isn't FM. Clubs will always contact representatives to sound out a player before making a move.
Seeing as it never progressed beyond that stage, that suggests he wasn't our priority.
I also dispute we had a bad summer. Despite the majority of muppets on here DvdB being adamant he was signed without the managers consent, there is absolutely no evidence to suggest that. Telles is a good signing and seems to have had the desired impact on Shaw. Cavani ended season as first choice, we were always going to sign a stop gap striker as we'll be involved in the Halaand circus next year. Amad looks like an excellent piece of business, although he was clearly signed for the future. We just moved the transfer forward when Parma bid for him.
Except we didn't.

So if last summer we didnt go after Sancho, who is to say we are looking at Sancho this summer? So who are these reliable journalist that are saying this year we are looking at signing him and didn't mention Sancho to United once last summer?
We didn't add a single player to our first 11. Cavani maybe but he barley player for half of the season and he was free Meanwhile City Chelsea and Liverpool did.
Coming off the back of last season that is madness and was no way our or Oles goal for last summer.
You can afford to sign just backups or bench players when your at the top. Not when you are trying to go there.
I wouldn't worry too much, I doubt he's interested in going to Cardiff City at this time. Are we really paying £77million for a player who cant make the England starting 23. Foden, Rashford, Sterling, Dom calvert lewin all ahead of him in Southgates opinion. He's either injured or we are being fleeced again - or maybe both. Still think we are overpaying. The further north of 50million we go, is like extra inches in the holiest of holies......
Yeah I'm just holding on to it until you're off the register. I noticed it has a big hole in the center about two thirds of the way down so I've stitched that up and for some reason there were a load of school fair leaflets in the pockets so I got rid of those.

There are concrete reports of bids already this summer. Not once was that reported last year. We just had the usual suspects tweeting out random figures saying Dortmund wouldn't budge.
Just have to point out - Ive been supporting UTD since the early 80's after many many trips to OT and getting home 4 in the morning, I decided to get me and my son a cardiff city season ticket. Fergie had gone, Glazers were in, we'd just paid £60mil to sign Di Maria. I was disenfrachised. I'll always be a Red but we aint the same Man Utd as I grew up watching - we are something different now.I wouldn't worry too much, I doubt he's interested in going to Cardiff City at this time.
Where are these concrete reports?

Also, if we were not going to bid for a player, why did we agree personal terms last summer? Is that your opinion of us operating fairly well?
err.. thanks… mate, i’d been meaning to get around to doing that… i accidentally fell onto a school notice board whilst wearing the coat, which explains how all that happened.
did you perchance spend any time trying to get rid of the stains? the hole can be remade and i’ve got an electronic copy of the leaflets but the stains have sentimental value.

I thought I'd leave the stains there as I noticed next to each one was a time and place note so I thought they must have been really important events in your life and perhaps defining moments.
ah perfect. for sure. it would have been hard to recreate “31st august 1997, princess di(ed)”
