Jack Rodwell | Sold to City

City sure do their business fast eh? If it was us, this will drag till deadline day

Nah someone else would step in by that time and then we will end up complaining about how crazy the transfer market have become

I do think he can become a good player, but this move is dangerous IMO for the him. Doesn't sound like it is Mancini's signing. More marwood's doing.

If that's the case it could set his career back

This rumour seems to have come from a lad on bluemoon saying Joe Royle mentioned City were after Rodwell, while on a cruise ship.

You have to love sky Sports sources

Dave with his finger on the pulse of whats going on at his club.

We cant keep stocking with young midfielders with potential

Never understood the hype around him.

He's got plenty of potential but personally I think its the wrong time for him to be moving, give it another 2 years playing regularly at Everton and he'd have a chance of developing nicely but I can't see him getting many games at City.

I guess Everton need the money though.

Could end becoming a decent buy for them I think, won't/shouldn't be on massive wages, decent backup for Toure and Barry (if De Jong leaves as Damien suggested).

They're short on home grown players too (Johnson, Milner, Richards, Hart, Barry, Lescott, Glichy)

Interesting signing, could still live up to his early potential however I'm not sure City is the place to do it.

Good potential, I'm not sure he's going to show much of it for a while though, agree with Popper here that he was maybe one for the future, but they've possibly saved themselves an inflated transfer fee later on. Patience needed all round I suspect.

Haven't seeen it wit Rodwell. Not sure what qualities he's going to bring to center midfield. Not fuzzed that he went to City.

Way to take my post out of context. In todays market things are inflated over potential, if you are english, If you have the homegrown rule. So its not unreasonable by those standards. You also failed to miss the point I made that if it was on performance alone then he would only be worth £10 million plus. But taking into consideration every point £15 million + is fair in the current market. Hell, victor moses is going for £12 million.

Overrated and not better than what they have. Will add depth, but not much else.

That matters little tbf. He is arguably as talented as both and younger than both. The move has the potential of making him a bonafide star like either of 'em.

Arguably as talented? Just a while back you were telling us he was a Rooney-talent after watching him extensively for Everton reserves.

Never really seen the hype personally. Strikes me as a typical 'hard working english player' ala Jenas. Really don't see him being a top class midfielder.

I'm guessing they'll probably use him for CB cover.

So we spend all summer chasing transfer targets (Hazard, Moura, RVP) in public & end up getting gazumped at the last minute.

Mancini cries all summer about not being able to buy anyone then suddenly out of nowhere they've spent £23M on Rodwell.

We must be doing something wrong somewhere along the line.

I'd say having not spent £23m on Rodwell we're doing something right.

We'd have been better off going for him than Van Persie.

Not sure he'll get the right kind of opportunity to develop at City though. THey'll porbably just try and turn him into a mini Gareth Barry, which would be extremely annoying.

With [to be kind] the doubts surrounding Fletcher and who the hell knows about Anderson, the mind boggles at why we placing so much emphasis on Van Persie AND mOURA. or

Yes, if only we'd managed to pick up someone like Kagawa for less than 20milion eh?

He's a good player when fit and could be a superb signing if he fulfils his potential. I always saw him as a United player in waiting, I felt sure he'd end up here.

Or SAF knows a little bit more about Fletcher and/or Anderson than the rest of us, hence putting his eggs into that one basket again.

If its £23m for Rodwell then that is crazy money. Normally I'd mention the English premium cliche but what with Hazard and Moura going for what they did, I guess you can't. The big teams like City and United are not the best place to develop, look at Welbeck, they do better getting game time and smaller clubs. Rodwell should have stayed put for a while.

Weird signing. Never rated him. Not arsed that City have gotten him. He'll be sitting on their bench anyway.
