Jack Rodwell | Sold to City

He's good, better than De Jong and will probably be better than Barry one day but damn, the guy needed more match-time at Everton as it was. Manchester City will now stall his development or at least set him back a few years. I guess he'll be playing with better players though, winning things and making millions.

Wonder if he'll regret this at 28... for every Joleon Lescott there's an Adam Johnson.

So mancini complains about a lack of signings and marwood brings him Rodwell. Best present ever Brian

This'll work out brilliantly for us if Rodwell is coming in because De Jong still wants to go. I just hope City pay nearly as much for him as the posters on here think he's worth

Where will he play? They have Y.Toure, Barry, De Jong, Milner, Silva, Nasri.
Silva and Nasri play ahead in a 3 man midfield and De Jong might be on his way out.
There is room for a midfielder.

I do wish Fergie would buy another central midfield though.

So how much do you reckon they're paying Rodwell, £125k+/week?

I want to know how much. He's probably only worth £10 million at the most considering what he's done but in today's market £15-25 million seems reasonable, particularly as it is City. Also wonder if we have tried to get someone on loan like Adam Johnson.

He was a top prospect about 2 years ago. Looks a bit of a panic buy to me. I bet he never secures a regular spot in their side.

If he's earning more then 30k a week i'll laugh myself silly. He's got everything to prove. He's achieved nothing. Half the time he's injured.

Much more than "half" you'll probably find.

City sure do their business fast eh? If it was us, this will drag till deadline day

Nonsense. Transfers under the Glazer regime have generally been extremely quick and efficient.

It reminds me of when Chelsea signed Parker. No room for him, but they wanted him anyway.

Rodwell isn't better than De Jong by any stretch of imagination.

Supposed fee is 15m. He's talented but has stagnated ever since. It's not a stretch of imagination to say that Gibbo has had more impact in his six months than Rodwell ever had(Correct me if I'm wrong Everton fans)

It could be possible that City are looking to the future for another holding midfielder if they don't want De Jong/Barry to be the regular starter there. They would need to actually give Rodwell time though and I doubt they'll give him enough for him to develop into a top player. Whether he's actually all that good anyway after the early hype over him is debatable as well.

No room? They only have De Jong, Barry and Toure for the midfield spots and if De Jong does leave that's down to 2.

I've always rated Rodwell, a couple of seasons ago he looks promising but lost his way a bit with injuries and lack of form. Still, if he can fulfil his potential then he'll be a good buy.

He can still do it. people on here are way to quick to write off a kid who has had a hard time with injuries. Rodwell is rubbish but Cleverley is great yet he has played twice as many games in the PL and is 18 months younger. I think he will prove a good signing for City.

That's actually funny. I saw a retweet of someone claiming he saw Moyes at Man City's ground a few days back. Now it makes sense.

So why are you relieved. He wasn't coming here and he wasn't going to harm us being at Everton?

I don't understand..

City are getting a player who I don't think will strengthen them, and we won't see the Rodwell thread in here anymore.

I'm disappointed by this - always liked jack rodwell and thought he would end up here once he had matured a bit more. Had him in my mind as a successor to Carrick in future.
