Jack Rodwell | Sold to City

on an aside, since rodwell is british...i would've loved for us to spunk the 8 million last jan to get adam johnson. I usually bash england a lot, but I hope wilshere and johnson all the best for england, both of these lads excite me and along with bale and ramsey, i wish all four of these british lads were on our books.

I wish we did on Johnson too. He's gonna be class.

Rodwell will turn out good.

But I believe Wilshere will be England's best mid fielder in future.

How I wish he was with United!

I base this on nothing at all, but I think the reason we aren't signing any new midfielders this season is because we'll go all out for Rodwell in the next one.

Don't know when, but if he continue to progress I'm fairly certain he'll end up at United, costing a bomb. He's got Fergie player written all over him.

So I've kind of decided that Rodwell is going to be THE next great midfield general of his generation. Someone that you could build a phenomenal team around. The next Rooney or Gerrard. I also think the one way we could pretty much guarantee his signing would be to employ his current manager as Fergie's succesor.

Am I the only one who thinks the arrival of Rodwell AND Moyes next summer would give us a hell of a team for the next few years.

Would be a dream scenario for me.

If you could choose, which pair would you rather see arriving at Old Trafford in two years time - Mourinho and Cristiano, or Rodwell and Moyes?

The second best manager in the world and the second best player in the world? Yes, I think I'm taking them guys.

But by those criteria we should only sign a manager that has been at a big club. I don't agree with that.

I'd like the job to be given to a "safe pair of hands" for the first 2 years to steady the ship during the mourning of Fergie then give it to a young, promising manager.

So give the job to someone knowing they'll only get two years - then take a massive risk by bombing them out and giving it to someone with less experience? Interesting.

The club will be unlikely to take a risk on a young manager with the level of debt they have. They need immediate continued success or the business model goes pop and the yanks lose a fortune.

Rodwell was born to be a red legend. Its a shame that we will all have to wait with raging boners for a whole year!! Not sure if Rodwell can become a playmaker but he certainly has the skills to play any role he wants. City can have Milner. Rodwell is the one we want.

X100. He's probably the one target if we do miss out on I will respond with a childlike hissy fit

Was a serious question actually. I'd go for Moyes/Rodwell personally - an English player on the way up with limitless potential who would probably love to stay at United his whole career, coupled with a a manager who would appreciate United's tradition, understand the club, and relish the chance to succeed Ferguson.

Yeah, that's how I see it too.

Neither of the Portugese blokes are the type of people you associate with stability and long-term commitment. The two qualities most important in all our trophies these last 20 years.

I'm not. Mourinho has demonstrated the more itchy feet of the two.

I don't see either of them being happy to stay in grey and rainy North-West England for the next 10 years though. Absolutely no chance.

Jose in fairness seems to have a big thing for English football and I think would still be at Chelsea if it wasn't for the setup and his own big mouth.

Don't get me wrong i think there is every chance that his mouth/personality might cost him the united job. But i've never really got the feeling that he would want to leave an English club once he settled unless there was something better domestically.

Rumours of a release clause in his contract only add to my view of this. I don't even think English weather(even manchester weather) bothers him that much.

He's been bigging up his love affair with England ever since the Italian press had the audacity to question his ability as a manager, as opposed to lapping up the "special one" shite like Fleet Street. He also decided the Italian referees were systemically biased against him, after a few duff results.

Be interesting to see how he gets on in Spain. If he has a good season with Madrid I reckon he'll start telling anyone who listens how much better football is in Spain than it is in Italy.

Mourinho was literally sacked, and has made no secret of his love for England while Ronaldo didn't leave England because of weather either. He instead left to play for his dream club. IMO you are way off base.

Oi. It aint that bad! Lot's of nice country side in the North West.

Moyes & Rodwell after SAF lifts the EPL & CL :D

TBH Rodwel is going to feature more for everton this season so we'll get a better look at how good he's going to be, all a bit premature at the moment IMO. Think he has potential, though i thought anderson would be further up the road after his early starts with us.

Though nothing wrong of seeing the future;

--------------Macheda
-------------Rooney
Nani---Anderson-----Rodwell----Valencia

Evra------Smalling---Vidic-------Raf
---------------Harte:devil:

You can't really include Vidic and Evra if you're looking so far ahead in the future that Fletcher isn't in the team...

He scored a peach last night for Everton and won a pentaly. It was only against a crap team but all the signs are there of what he can become!! Hopefully Shitty won`t bid for him next summer seem as they have an abundance of top central midfielders already but I wouldnt put it past the sneaky arab to make some astronomical bid.

They will probably adopt a policy of signing players just so others can't have them.

He needs to concentrate on getting more minutes for Everton first though. I don't think he's played a single minute of their first 2 league games.

Money can always corrupt but I dont see Rodwell following the Arab cash cow. He's a very grounded lad. Future England Captain imo. He has always had that something extra be it his ability or even his maturity whilst giving an interview. Always a stand out prospect.

Next summer, new uefa financial fairplay rules will be applicable and city's spending will most probably be more restrained

No way he'll move to the likes of City, what with all their current CM's. Though if he was ever going to be prized away from Everton you'd expect them to grab every last pound they could out of the transfer...

I expect a kid like him would look past the ££££ and aim to become a great at whatever club he plays for. On a side note, England are looking alright with him and Wilshere in a couple of years.

How would that affect our spending I wonder with the big debt repayments we will have to fork out? I don`t think it is going to be fully implemented next summer though from what I have heard!

Mark Lawrenson was on TodayFM talking about Everton at the weekend and he said he'd been talking to Moyes about their chances and lack of funds. Moyes said he could raise funds by selling players if he wanted that he 'could have 20million for Rodwell tomorrow by just picking up the phone'.... Lawerenson said he asked 'Man Utd?' and Moyes just smiled.

I'm with you, he's one of those players you can just see in a Utd shirt.

I've cum.

 I'm only relaying the info. Lawrenson seemed fairly convinced that its only a matter of time before he ends up at Utd.
