Jack Grealish

I don’t understand why players would do things like this being in the position they are in. You got the best job in the world, just keep your nose clean and be a professional for your short career.. Do what you want when you retire!

a hell of a lot of footballers are really stupid, thick as a brink stupid - all clubs have them. In no way condoning his actions, but it doesn’t have a bearing on any future transfer. Gambling/ drinking/ poor fitness would be far more of a concern in this day and age.
Can't really argue with this. We've got a few numpties already, if you're going to turn players down for being dumb then it's slim pickings.

For one, by the time you retire, you're presumably in your mid to late thirties. People tend/want to do dumb shit in their twenties. Also, from a cynical point of view, I'll rather do something bad while I'm playing, since I have the club's resources to defend me, as they don't want to lose their asset. After retirement, you're on your own.

What an absolute dckhead.

Very worrying, he could have seriously injured or killed someone.

Maddison please.

Wow, how pissed was he to hit 2 parked cars at about 5mph? That’s seriously worrying.

hopefully he’s learnt his lesson now but I doubt it. Thankfully he didn’t make it out onto the main road!

talented player but a massive bellend. For all the shit pogba gets he’s an Angel compared to that.
Why mention fecking Pogba in this? He is a bellend for all the different reasons and nothing as serious as drink driving.

Becuase people are desperate to sign Grealish and want to get rid of Pogba for dancing and haircuts. Doesn't quite add up to me!

People are not desperate to get rid of Pogba for dancing and haircuts, only because he has been underwhelming to shit for the majority of his stint here. Grealish would be absolute top notch signing for us only if we have a manager that can keep him in line and sort this kind of attitude.

He was a club record buy that came here with big expectations. He has done nothing to reach those expectations at all. He has been underwhelming and poor. On top of that he has an agent running his mouth of pretty often on his behalf.
People don’t give two fecks about haircuts and dancing. They do care about a club record signing that has been very poor for us and see him as a failed buy. If we used that money better we would maybe be far better off today.

That's just not true - the first 3 years Pogba has been here he's been fine. People just expected him to be Messi and carry the team by himself.

The majority of the dislike started with him dabbing and dancing about, Pogemoji etc. Only in the last year with his injuries and poor form has that actually been true.

I think he's just a massive idiot. Stay clear, no need for another drama and bad news spreader.

I wonder if the club somehow knew he was likely to be involved in off the field antics like this, maybe it's why they didn't push harder to sign him?

If there's any truth in this at all, it's probably vindicated.

Banned for 9 months ....should be 9 years! He's obviously a complete moron behind the wheel.

He’s a top w@nker, but he’s also top footballer. If we had a SAF/Klopp** type manager who would jump all over him the moment he fecks up, he’d still be worth taking a punt on.

** against popular opinion I’d put Mourinho in that bracket too (open to other suggestions).

Well then, just get your head down and play football. He’s paid 110k a week to do that. He also isn’t your average kid in his 20s! He is Aston Villa captain and a England international. He’s human and makes mistakes, just because your a footballer doesn’t make you a perfect human, maybe he needs better advisors around him?

Then if when your 35 and you don’t want to do stupid shite... don’t. Retire with your millions and do what you want.

He’s my favourite non united player in the prem, I’d love it if we signed the guy... also always comes across as a nice lad in interviews etc.. but he does need to stop with the silly stuff and just do what he has god given talent in. His potential is massive, huge. Be a shame if he doesn’t live up to it or pisses it up the wall.

I really hope his drink problem stops.

I wonder if him being in Birmingham all his career from his kid age has stopped him growing up.

Not sure, but I'd still hope a big transfer and responsibility at a different club and a different area and different stress level and eyes concentrating on him after an 80 million transfer stops him from drink driving.

Said it in my previous post. Looking at the player's history, off the field he's got a drink problem. That must be addressed and taken seriously asap. How many more stories do we have to hear about footballers who fall into the trap before anyone does something. His manager on avoiding the drop last season said he would get drunk with Grealish. FFS wake up!

A young man with lots of money and hangers on isn’t exactly a unique situation. May I mention one G.Best who fell foul of the drink and so called friends. Grealish isn’t fit to have cleaned Bestie’s boots but he is a good player. The best player in an average side. If he moved to a top four club, he wouldn’t have that status and would geographically be away from the ‘friends’ and the booze. It would be a chance for him to grow up. £80m is way too much, nobody will pay that. Half that price would be more like it. If Woodward enquires now, we will buy him for £100m in eighteen months time.

Just because he likes a drink now and again (like most lads that age) doesn't mean he's got a drink problem. Anyone around Manchester in the 90's will no doubt of seen half our treble winning squad falling out of bars pissed up on a regular basis, it just wasn't reported back then.

He's a Man United player if you ask me. He'll relish the siege mentality here. Although it looks like we may have missed the boat with him.

For the people watching Aston Villa and Grealish - is Konsa a good player?

That is so feckin naive! You don't get into your car in the middle of the day in that condition, risking other peoples lives, if you just like a drink now and then. Nor do you lie in gutters half unconscious. He knows the risks he is taking and the negativity associated to his behaviour yet he carries on doing it. The alarm bells are ringing bro!

You are the one that’s naive, either that or you’ve lead a very sheltered life. Is he irresponsible for someone in his position, yes, is he doing anything that most young lads in their 20’s do, no.

I've always thought this.
But then I remember Lee Sharpe saying you can't do all the things you can when you're young when you retire at say 35-40.

You're not exactly going to be prowling the nightclubs at 40 for instance.

im Positive plenty of young lads would give up going to there local club if they could be a pro footballer. They have a fantastic life, it’s not a bad swap

Football bad/misguided/irresponsible boys have always been around. The difference today is there’s the massive magnifying glass that is social media.
The olden days drunks, philanderers and gamblers (including those in a United jersey) would have been hung out to dry today but the absence of the internet then let them off lightly, unlike Jackie boy.
As a player progressively earns more from sponsorships, you can only hope the behaviour and standards contract clauses do their job on them.

I've worked with lads his age who liked a drink now and again. They all had drinking problems.

At this point he really is an asshole. Totally irresponsible.

And hes club captain!
Thankfully we didn't get him.
Firstly I do not approve of drink driving. secondly United fans so self righteous nowadays and this should not influence signing him as it would not stop any of our rivals signing him so.....

There's the one as well...

His piece of shit lawyer said he drove like that because he was wearing incorrect footwear

Didn't have a problem jogging over to the car in whatever they were though did he. What an awful lie.

To be fair to the lawyer, he probably told Grealish to fess up to his crime. The latter, being obstinate, insisted the lawyer come up with the best defense possible...
