Don't get me wrong i'd like a CB also, but I think our defensive record isn't bad at all, where as the front lads (Greenwood,Martial,Rashford) will no doubt get tired and we need quality back up. Not sure James/Mata are going to really cut the mustard if we get back into the CL! Sancho is one of the best attackers of his generation, we will end up regretting it like not getting Hazard IMO.

Wasn't happy myself when we lost out on Hazard as he was a perfect fit for us. Always knocked me sick watching him play for the chavs.
Mata been a great servant but the time is now right to let him go and definitely can se him leaving this summer. Apparantly in talks with Fenerbahce and close to a agreement.
Think they will keep James just as a back up/squad player.
I think with likely pogba staying, we will map a path for Mejbri to the first team and sack off this signing.

Yeah I did say that and looks like they have well called it right so fair play. Will be pleased if we sign a top drawer one but still concerned about drop off when Pogba & Bruno aren't there.

He will be on the cusp in 12 months time IMO. Signing Sancho would give us a fantastic option on the right but it would also give us the option of him covering Rashford and Bruno so I see very little point in signing Grealish unless Pogba left which doesn't look to be the case.
And the above is enough time to prepare Mejbri for the first team and what I call good long-term planning.

My gut feeling is that we will sell a couple of CB's probably Rojo & Smalling to make room for a new one, personally don't think there is anything in the links to a striker but can see links to a midfielder picking up again if we can sell two of Mata/Lingard/Pereira/Sanchez.
So in other words three in which would be Sancho, CB & AM and four out which I can see being Smalling, Rojo, Lingard & Sanchez

Contradicting report to the one tweet before, where it said Grealish wouldnt be a target if Pogba stays. I hope we buy all 3 (Grealish, Sancho and a CB). Sell and get rid of Mata, Lingard, Jones, Smalling, Rojo and maybe one or two other players i forgot about. We need quality squad depth if we want to challenge. One or two key injuries in midfield or defense, and we would be in trouble. And we will have some injuries at some point, we always do.

Yeah you forgot about the biggest and main priority to get off the books, fecking Sanchez.
Lets think about this. If we get Sancho he can play on the left. So can Martial and so can James. Grealish is not needed in the front line at all. If Fernandes is injured then we have Pogba and vice versa. Would we really not play Fred or McTominay if one of them are injured? If not whats the point of them. If Fernandes is injured then we would revert to a 4-3-3 with two of Matic/Fred/McTomainay + Pogba pushing up. If Pogba is injured then we would play 2 of Matic/Fred/McTomiinay + Fernandes. With the attack we would have this would be more than enough. So the only problem is if Pogba + Fernandes gets injured or we rest both of them at the same time. This hopefully is a rare scenario if they both get injured and if we are not playing both of them then the opposition is probably a weaker team - FA cup etc. Should we get Grealish for 50 mill to sit on the bench waiting for this possibility or to play against weaker opposition?
But lets say Pogba + Fernandes do get injured - it could happen. We could play one of Mata/Periera/Lingard - we wont sell all of them. So Mata in the 10 and 2 Fred/Mc Tominay midfield. Yes its not ideal. Id rather they all go but its not going to happen. And if they stay and we need players in the scenarios listed above then we are in an emergency situation and will have to make do. Even if it will be nice to get another better bench option than Mata/Periera/Lingard then is Grealish really the answer? Mainly because of the money - 50 mill ish. Heck if we can blow 50 mill for Grealish to wait around for odd games then why not. But we dont have that kind of money. And we could use the money elsewhere. Wouldn't it make more sense to spend the Grealish money on a Konate/Upamacano 40/50 mill and find a cheap back up creative player - Emiliano Buendía for instance.

I think this is a well thought out viewpoint.
At some point Fred and McTominay deserve a bit of credit for keeping us going without Pogba and Bruno for the majority of our season and deserve to be our squad options.
It’s also worth pointing out Sancho can play CAM too and has done so for Dortmund this season.
Essentially while talent wise Grealish would be a nice addition there isn’t a burning need for him if Sancho arrives and Pogba stays which appears to be the case and there are enough concerns about his attitude to warrant questioning a £40-60m purchase for him to not start.
That would be a fantastic transfer window.

I'd be very happy with a window like that. We desperately need to bridge the gap in quality between our first teamers and squad players.

Us drawing that game was down to some poor defending as well as looking a bit clueless in attack. We are a better team as you say
Just can't see Jones leaving as he is out injured until September and expect James to not go out on loan. However the others leaving is very much a strong possibility.
