People used to like him, and one of the popular thing I read was "replace Pogba with Grealish". Then he signed for City, and the popular consensus became that he is "overrated" because a couple of posters went overboard with their praise. That's absurd, like saying Bruno is "underrated" because someone called him shit. All the discourse about him not being a “generational talent” was just pure cope being posted because City got him. That's bound to happen, from fans of all clubs in the PL. Literally everyone in England loved him last season/during the Euros. Once he's signed for a big club, he's suddenly an enemy of everyone except City fans and he's massively overrated, not worth £100m and everything he does will be scutinised.

Have we been watching the same matches? He’s been brilliant in every single game he’s started this season bar the Spurs game. He’s also created the most non-set piece chances in Europe’s top five leagues this season.
Yep he's been pretty good. Torres missed a couple of big chances Grealish created, so people haven't took notice.

Yes and he hasn’t been an upgrade on what you had. Even on bluemoon his player performance thread has barely been a discussion in it and some of your own fans are wondering why he was bought. It’s always the stats we can track, or quote for a fact that is always brought up with Grealish. “The most balls carried forward” “the most fouls”.
“Chance created” is a broad stat because what constitute as a chance for you might not constitute a chance for me. Unlike assist or goal stats were it’s facts and can’t be argued.
And you really think if he was tearing it up this thread wouldn’t be bumped all match days? There would have been bumps on here why we should have signed him instead on CAF. Lukaku’s thread gets bumped every match day because he is tearing it up.

I would have had and still would have Grealish over Sancho the guys just unbelievable.
Sancho suits our needs more than Grealish does. Hence Sancho is a better and a cheaper buy.
He was very good in each of his starts so far. I know he was ridiculously expensive but that won't change it.
Can somebody please tell me how much better he is than the player he is replacing? Pure stats would be fine. I haven‘t watched any City match yet but am interested in the difference he makes (or doesn‘t).
I'm not sure I fully understand your question. Foden and De Bruyne have been injured up to now but it's hard to say who replaces who. Sterling also occupied LW before Foden but it's obvious they are stylistically different players to Grealish (but also compared to each other). Which means that their traits will also have different effect on the team. So purely a goal or assists metrics or even the advanced ones (xG or xA) would be pointless in my opinion. Grealish will of course carry the ball more, thus creating space, whereas Sterling will run into the space etc.
In squad terms, however, he practically replaced Aguero, so that's a win already.
Let's be honest, he's a fantastic player, even if he is just a slight upgrade on their previous options. But... City can afford it, and they prevented him going to a rival, which would significantly strengthen us/Chelsea.
Grealish, Mahrez are both better wide forwards than Sancho. Overall I’d choose Grealish, right or left.
Except Grealish doesn’t play on the right. It’s like Beckham playing on the left wing. His specialty is right wing. Just cause he is a winger doesn’t mean he will as efficient on the left as he is on the right.

The greatest manager of all time thought Rooney can play in central midfield. Did that work out? City’s needs are different from ours. That’s why I said Sancho is better suited for our needs. Sancho is better Grealish on the RW. When was the last time you saw Grealish play on the right?
I would not pick a right winger just because we need one, I’d go for talent and jacks a world star.
A fluid forward line could easily be implemented with Rashford, Greenwood, Ronaldo, Cavani, Grealish, Pogba.
However we have Sancho and I for one have been pleased with his performances, it’s what I’d expect coming from the bundesliga at 21. He’s shown some decent stuff in flashes.
I’m truly looking forward to this as I believe it’s our best and most balanced front 6.

That’s really a dumb way of building a side. We need to fix weakness rather than buying players just cause they are talented and load up on positions. If that’s the case then why didn’t we get more “talented” players and load up on positions we are already stacked in. Romero and Torres are talented at CB. Why didn’t we get them as well? Donnaruma is a great GK. Why not him?
Whether he is good or not is irrelevant. They probably got mixed up when we said they spent £100m for someone who isn’t worth £100m in squad improvement. If he signed for Arsenal he would be worth £100m + but for city.. they overpaid for what they actually got.

As I haven‘t watched him for City yet, I really am only interested in like for like stats in comparison with players who had been playing that position before Grealish arrived.
I still intend to watch games to have a complete picture, and as you say, be able to judge him on non-measurable things. Obviously, he doesn‘t just have flair. But until then, I love numbers and hoped somebody had already gathered a bunch.
Because Jack is someone you buy, regardless of what you have. City have Sterling, Mahrez and Foden and they still went for Grealish, he’s brilliant.
We currently have Rashford, Greenwood and Pogba in those positions, Grealish is completely different to all three as he’s an elite, world level ball carrier and would be great for us in Europe not to mention he’s probably the most entertaining player on the planet.
Put Grealish where Sancho has played for us and in each game he would do better than what Sancho has done.

Did he really? How often was that? As far as I remember, Rooney played as a #10 in the 12-13 season behind RvP mostly, rotating with Kagawa. That season we had Cleverley, Carrick, Anderson, Scholes and Giggs in CM. I dont remember Rooney playing as a CM for us under SAF, atleast not regularly.

Just checked transfermarkt, and Rooney played 2 games as a CM under SAF in his final season.
Very few times, he played alongside Carrick vs Villa when we won the league.

What were Iniesta's stats like? He was pretty entertaining. Though, despite playing in the most dominant team of all time and spending 60%+ of every game around the oppositions box, his goal and assists stats were horrendous, so he mustn't have been that entertaining I guess.

2. He is an incremental improvement on what they have, so will make the already best team better
3. Their existing team is good enough that he'll be better at City than, say, with us - because we're not at good as City.
City have the best squad on the planet, one of the best first XIs and a manager and system that makes Grealish's position a priority. Grealish will have more opportunities to create, time with the ball and have less defensive responsiblities with City than any other club. So he's going to shine.
