Watched them again today. He was probably the best player on the pitch, though he looked a bit clumsy at times. He's not quite as technically sharp as you'd like for a starting #9 for a team trying to win the biggest trophies. Good assist with a Kane type chipped ball over the top, works really hard defensively to break up plays involving the DM on the other team and start counter attacks. Threat from set pieces and unselfish. Smarter than his teammates except for the always solid Norgaard.
If his suspension is done by the summer (say he gets 10 games) then I'd say this is still the logical backup plan for us if we can't get a plan A striker.
The best case for him is that he'd make sense when we're counter-attacking more, due to his work rate and aerial ability, and he'd up also make sense when we're pegging teams back since he's an aerial threat. And in the in-between games, Martial can be first choice. Not a ton of strikers you'd feel better about having annoy top teams or flat track bully bottom teams, apart from Mitrovic (too expensive, might lose pace he can't afford to soon), though there are higher upside guys out there who will improve as much as Toney has in his mid 20s. But weirdly, buying him would be a signal of confidence in Martial, who I think would still start a lot when we're not facing 10 men behind the ball or 10 men in our half.
