Ivan Perisic

So you are a proud recidivist? Come on dude, we will count the points at the end of the window and even then it will be too soon.
The points are counted when league starts. Only the winner is announced when it ends. So i am not saying they have already won the transfer window, all i am saying is they have taken a lead of 2-0 in the third minute.
Anyways onto perisic...

 Madness isn't it? I can't believe people are scoring transfers.

EDIT: May need goal line technology because I'm not sure the second is over the line...
Worst part is that's not even the craziest thing I saw here.

I cant believe i made a non chalant comment about their transfers and people are hooked on to it. You cannot actually score transfers but they have 2 we have 0 so saying 2-0 makes sense.

Come on, its not funny anymore.

If Jose signed Robbie Savage would you criticize that or does your rule still apply?
Yeah but Robbie Savage has done practically naff all in his career whereas Perisic has had a decent career so far.

Maybe, just maybe he doesn't want to get rid of Martial, and is hoping he'll come good? Signing a 28 year old may be a stop gap that can be rotated with Martial until he can cement his place fully?

Valid point, I think it's too much money though. And I'd rather see us sign players that have a future here.

I don't think anyone minds a player like that (in the squad at least). What people are (probably) reacting to is the price being touted. Which shouldn't be of much concern to supporters provided the other areas of the pitch are addressed.
Tbh, I don't he's that good and for the price it's a potential rip off.

No, it doesn't. There is literally no point keeping scores and there is even less points doing on the base of the amount of transfers.

I think there should be points for clubs doing good transfer business. City should already get 2 points more from the FA.

But they've also released four, so they're -2-0, or in other words we're 2-0 up. Get in!

What an odd rule.

We can still raise question marks over transfers that make little sense. You're seemingly acting like the people who don't really want this transfer (including myself) will refuse to support the player or write him off before he wears the shirt.

We can still raise an eyebrow at the profile and the fee, it doesn't mean we are jumping the gun when a lot of us have seen Perisic play often enough. By your logic no one should have been baffled by the Fellaini purchase at the time of the transfer. Doesn't make sense.

Perisic is turning 29 in a position where age catches up with you fast, he's patchy in form and not exactly setting Serie A on fire. There is nothing wrong with posters being doubtful of his success with us or saying he's bang average for the price we're paying, because quite frankly, he is.

When did 28 and 3 months become the new turning 29? Really boils my piss when people all fall into the same uneducated exaggeration.
As for the transfer I'm firmly in the wait and see boat.

So if we quickly buy Charlie Adam, Robert Huth and Stewart Downing will it mean we'll be winning 3-2 against City? Because it's a bad analogy it gets dissected like this.

2 goals conceded in the first few minutes. I hope we can somehow come back from this shock.

I don't even understand how city signing a new keeper is us conceding a goal. Last I checked we still have the best keeper in the world on our books, with it looking increasingly likely that he's staying.

I have to genuinely admit I haven't watched him enough to really comment. I don't like the idea of paying over £20m for a bog standard winger though (if that's what he turns out to be).

Clubs pay over the odds all the time mind. Still doesn't make it right.

If he's not turning 29 next season what's he turning, 12?

True. But the transfer makes a lot of sense to many for reasons shared in this thread. I'd rather focus on debating that than pay attention to the likes who have their head up Mourinho's arse or the ones who can't wait to call a player turd based on a couple of videos.

A good team who doesn't need much improvement can never win this stupid race either.

I'm super curious about what word you actually meant to use there.
He used the right word. I like it. I will use it in the future.
2 good transfers so two good points to them, lets talk about perisic now. Its his fecking thread.

This is how I see it. It's probably the most valid reason I can imagine. At £30.5m/€35m it's a little expensive as a stop gap, but we don't live in the SAF-value era anymore. It's not my money anyway, so I don't care. As long as we can still purchase our main targets.

Oh, and 11 goals and 8 assists is a better output than anything we have on the wings. Whilst he's not the most flashiest name, I understand both sides of the arguement of signing him and not signing him, but I'm happy to give him a go.

I think Jose Mourinho is a better evaluator of talent than most of RedCafe.

While that's a fact, if we lived by it we should just shut all forums down. By the way, football players are far better at football than the Caf, so we shouldn't really judge them either.

No you save your powder until the cnut has a chance to play. Whiners used Fellaini as an example earlier days after one of the best games of his career.

I don't agree. My post was just another side of the debate on the player. It is part of a larger discussion. RedCafe can stay open.

I prefer to express my opinion before, then support him and then make amends if necessary. Instead of pretending and then lambasting the poor lad for expectations that never should have been put on his shoulders.
