It took 60 minutes to get a shot on target.

Well, as much as you can draw any conclusions from 1 game, we definitely need to create more. Dare I say it, shoot on sight of goal.

Possession is great, but if we're not taking chances, we get stung by weaker (?) teams that do.

Anyway, let's not jump to conclusions. Darmian did well, as did Smalling, Young & Mata.

Arsenal get one in first half injury time! 45 minutes till they got a shot on goal against West Ham at home! Of course the scores a bit different as well.

Yeah but our fans will still see them as genuine contenders and see it as an off day/half. They don't give our team the same benefit and tear a single performance to shreds despite the fact that....we won! This place is so inherently negative, it's so tedious.

I just hope the score stays the same. Either way I think some fans will realise how hard this football stuff is after watching Chelsea and arsenal so far.

I hope people feck off with posts like this one. We had a whole season of creating 2 chances a game. Not one game. One season consisiting of 44 games.

How dare he be positive, the cheeky fecker.

Imagine, getting better results and putting similar results in compared to your rivals and being positive? I hate shite like that.

When was the last season we played good football in your eyes?

Any season going back from 12-13 can be broadly classified as good - or at least, better than last season's dross. I'd say 06/07 should be the gold standard for any United team - we're galaxies away from that now.

We only created 88 'chances' all season last year?? I didn't realize we were that bad!

Arsenal being this shit is a nice surprise. We still need to improve our attacking play though, last season it was way to slow and backwards just like it was against Spurs

Either way I would take a shitty 1-0 win over Spurs rather than a nice 1-0 loss to West Ham on the opening day

I try to be positive but at home we use to pepper the opposition goal not wait an hour to have a shot. All team's are going to set up the same bar a couple and park the bus we need to get back to what were before ' an attacking team' not a toothless one !

Nobody is saying everything is great and we were brilliant. We had 5? new players in the team and it's the first game of the season. Ridiculous to say we'll be no better than last season already. What is the point or benefit of being hugely negative and focusing only on what is perceived as being wrong? I don't understand the mindset.

Theres a lot to be said for a team that can have an awful game and still manage to win. Positives: Darmian looks a good buy and Smalling is really starting to look like he can fill Rios boots. All in all you have to be happy with a win no matter what.

Now that Chelsea and Arsenal dropped points at home to weaker teams than Spurs, are people still negative about our result?

Whats funny is if we hadnt had that 1 shot on target we would of won the game without a single shot on target. We are shocking in the final third.

I really don't understand what point people are trying to make. It's wrong to want better attacking play apparently...

Last season was very poor for the majority of the time and we started off in the same way so people were understandably disappointed.

I think it needs to be said. Just because our result now looks really good in comparison with our rivals doesn't mean we should be happy or pleased completely.

Yes it's been a good start against a good team who will expect to compete for top 4. But the performance was not good. Now it's early days so maybe it'll improve but we've had pretty much a year of this now and so far we've not seen it!

I don't think it's a stretch to say 100% of the United fans on this forum want to see us be more threatening on the attack and create more chances. However, there seems to be a prevailing attitude on the Caf at the moment where every minor negative is overmagnified and positives are dismissed. This being a prime example; more threads and posts about what went wrong yesterday than the fact that we won and that a lot of the new signings played well.

I don't think the negatives are over-magnified, the points made are justifiable. The issue is the fact that we seem to be repeating the same mistakes over and over again. Playing players out of position, lack of attacking threat, passing the ball around for the sake of it etc. Many were hoping that a new season and we'd see a new United, but it's like we just played Hull a week ago.

I understand we've made new signings, and it takes time to settle, but how that results in us not being able to string more than one or two proper attacks, I don't understand. They're all professional footballers who know how to play the game, and the aim of the game is quite simple.

Another issue which arises is the fact that Tottenham had far better chances than us, and they were playing in a similar style to us. So, why is it that we weren't able to create more than one or two chances? Many felt that we looked solid, yet Tottenham managed to break through our defense quite easily early on and compiled a late assault. I don't think there was a period in the game where we looked comfortable going forward. It was just like last season, where we kept the ball and did very little with it.

This. I dont mind a dirty, boring win. Last season we had 4 good games max.
I think its too early to draw conclusions, yesterday we played a good Tottenham team and still won. It wasnt pretty but against the top teams thats usually the case.

If after 5-6 games its still the same old same old i'll start to get worried but with the new personal its going to take time

Almost half time and Liverpool haven't managed a shot on target yet, in fact they haven't managed a shot that hasn't been blocked.

Why are we comparing ourselves to other squads? We should be worrying about ourselves and the fact still remains that we don't have a good enough attack, at least not yet. I don't give a toss what Arsenal and Pool are doing. There are issues if United's best offensive player yesterday was Kyle Walker.

Because we are competing with these other squads. Why wouldn't we compare ourselves? That's how the league works.

It's natural to do that but some people seem to be consoling themselves with the bad results of other teams. Not sure if that's healthy.
